LCD has much improved over just the last couple of years. Longevity wise, they are lasting as long as thier crt counterparts with an avg life expectancy of 60,000 hours on upwards to 80k. If you use one 8 hours a day which is a little over the avg, it will last 20+ years. That's a long time to own a single tv, for me anyway. Plasma still has a (very) slight edge in picture quality but it's disadvantages far outweigh any picture quality advantages, for me. CRT's still offer great advantages in the 32" and smaller units, but big screen market will be dominated by the DLP's and LCD's.
