I took the 2's out of my bike and put them in the wifes. Put 3's in mine and they both pull the same......hard! The 3's are nice cause theyre "snap togather" no screws to vibrate loose. Get what ever you can get a better deal on, you wont be disappointed.

This all sounds too familiar to me. Is your builder/porter Charlie Ohton? If so, youre right, he is a muther foker to get ahold of. He ported my cylinders similar to what youve explained and i am having a hell of a time dialing in the jetting as well. He told me the to use the exact same jetting circuits. 380 mains 30 pilot (1.5 turns on the air screw) dyna jet needles (4th clip posit down from the top) My problem oppisite of yours . I am bogging a little on the bottem (so much that i cannot launch in 2nd at the hill anymore) but then it screams once it is in the pipes. I agree with what everyone is saying "380 is way high", but my plugs after a weekend in the dunes are still white with only a hint of brown. Im thinking about putting my needle in the middle to clean up that bogg and i should be spot on. All and all, i will be happy with my porting once i fugure it out, but they have so far ruined 2 trips to Glamis. Not high jacking man, just letting you know i feel your pain. Lets get these things dialed so we can shoot the hill this season.

Pipes and no air box lid w/ a K&N will do it! Start in 2nd, full throttle launch, dont look back, and kick him if he gets next to you. No seriously, dont be afraid of high revs and you get him no prob with the above mods.

Port & Polish and Pistons Selection
sandornothing replied to sitttinpretti03's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Never ever, ever, ever in your lifetime should you use Ohton racing for anyting. The owner Charlie promised me a weekend turn around on a port job if i sent the cylinders 2 day priority mail to his house (his idea). That was on June 7th! The last time i spoke with him was June 20th and he acted like he had too much going on to even take my phone call. As of today he will not return my emails nor will his shop answer my phone calls during business hours. I have no receipt or invoice to file a complaint with the BBB, so i am left no choice but to drive from San Diego to AZ and go and get them myself next week......and let me tell you, i am not going to be happy when i get there. Mr.Ohton, if you frequent this site, i am coming to collect. I hope you dont mind that i'll be parking my Bank's powered superduty on your counter at your shop when i get there. I cannot believe have ruined your reputation over a 150.00 set of stock cylinders you F#$@ing thief. We'll be meeting shortly. Sorry to ruin a great post. If youre in east county, like me, then just use Duncan. Talk to Lauren (he's a dude) the owner. He is a straight up guy and stands behind all of his work. They are a little expensive, but you pay for the quality of work provided by he and his team. He can port/piston match you a set of cylinders for a reliable mid 60 HP machine. -
Kip from Napoleon Dynamite right?? I though something was up with that dude.
-
Stock needle works real good with all the mods in my sig too. Ive even got some ported cylinders coming back from Ohton here shortly, and i am still going to keep the stock needle. Theyre very predictable, that is why ive stuck with them.

If you already have a "Pro Flo" type air filter set up, cut away everything around it (see picture). You get massive air flow and better protection than clamp on type filters. This is how i set up me and the wife banshees for Glamis/dune riding only....hence the name sand or nothing! works good, but jet big.

I just swithed to a ricky stator 200W. You can have my stock one for 50.00 (shipped to you). It worked fine when took it off, i just wanted more juice for trailtechs. I am an honost guy......no BS. I'll leave it up to you. paypal ID [email protected] Oh yeah.....it is off a 99

theyre up. -
Title says it all. The 050 over piston fits a 65.25mm bore. I bought the wrong damn ones off ebay. I need the "super stock" pistons for my application. It is a complete kit with wrist pin bearings, all gaskets, even instructions. It was a 150.00 plus some shipping, but i'll pay the shipping to you if someone gives me the 150.00. Let me try and upload some pictures now.
-
Nightrider, theyre going into a fresh 65.25mm bore so i should be good right?. Are the "Power Piston" skirts shorter and weaker than stock pistons? Because im doing my wifes bike right now too and her bike has never been opened up and it is a 2000 with about 100-120 hrs on the stock pistons? Her cylinders are fine, she's getting a .010 over bore and some Pro-X's just for the sake of starting fresh. I knew i should have just stuck with Wiseco, but i got chumped for 5-6HP claim i guess.
-
The website claimed 5-6 HP gain over other brands. I went with the cast instead of the forged for durability. Ive used Wiseco the last two times but i thought i'd try something new. Anyone have any stories to share before i install them?

I posted on that other topic regarding the ASR's saying they were great. Well this weekend i went to Glamis and flew off a razorback about 10 feet and landed on the front right corner hard enough to go end over end once. The heims held up better than i did. Only bent the post that the heim seats in and that is it. Luckly i had spare heims that i ordered from the ASR website. I was back out at it again later that afternoon after replacing a corner. Everyone dogs these things and yet mine survived another crash and burn. I dont get it, everyone hates them and Im not sure why. They surprise me (for the price) more and more everytime i ride. There are better setups out there, but these go good for the price......bottom line......theyre better than stock.
-
I run their +2 up 1 setup and and ive ran them, crashed and burned, been upside down, and cleaned the heims and keep on going, and mine are still rocking along. To me, theyre awsome for the price, and no matter what anybody says theyre better than stock. Theyre probally not race quality, and youre surely not going to see Doug Gust or Cory Ellis run them, but if you dont race pro or dont have the funds for a 1000.00+ setup then why not. Remember, keep the heims clean. I'd do it over again if they bent. You asked, you got it!
-
There mark up is generally 10% on everything......and they know it. If you go into the store and just "shoot the shit" to the parts guys, theyre pretty cool, they'll cut you a "awsome 10% deal" and get you down to par pricing. But i guess that doesnt help with you out of town guys. Here is a tip, sign up with the American Sand Association (make a donation towards keeping our dunes open). ASA will send you a newsletter with some good crapper reading material and on the back of that newsletter is a list of about 50 businesses that will give you a discount for being a member.....Alba is one of them 10% off. Cheers!

Thanks ill keep you in mind, but my bikes not ready for a tear down yet. Ive only had it out 6 times since halloween. I'll juggle the idea of porting when i do the topend this summer while the jugs are off, but im already pushing the limits of the stock crank i think. I run the stock clutch because it will slip a little before the crank splits. The only reason i asked the original question was to see if there would be any benefit, or if it would it hurt any to (very lightly) round off some of the angles inside where the reed seat and wet sand the exhaust ports. I woundnt take off any of the sleeve at all.
-
C'mon...someone has to know something about this. Im not talking full on porting, just rounding off all the little angles inside there.
-
First off, I dont know a thing about doing my own port work, I choose to leave it to the pro's. But is there any benefit to dremeling (very minimal) like this guy did on all the angles inside where the reeds seat, just to round things off a little for better flow. Not that i'd jack with my own cylinders, more or less im just curious. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...4532593128&rd=1

Add engine ice. $16.95.......and you will have about a qt left over.
-
Let me know if he doesnt scoop it up, because i will today.
-
the first sign would be pinging, it sounds like someone is shaking up a spray paint can inside your motor...not a good sound. start with like a 70/30 mix of race gas to premium pump stuff.
-
mix some race gas and some premium pump gas like 50/50 and you'll be good. As long as its like 110 octane or above. That will put you in the low 100's for an octane rating when mixed which is safe for your set up. If you hear a little pinging then back the timing off in half degree increments until it goes away. To save money on race gas find somewhere that pumps it, those 5 gallon cans you get from the bike shop are always like 50.00 dollars give or take....do the math and that is like 10.00 a gallon. At the pump you'll pay as low as 4.00 to as high as 7.00 dollars a gallon which is still alot better considering you only have to pump 2.5 gallons at a time. That is how i swing it anyway.

To lighten or not to lighten
sandornothing replied to Yamaholic in va.'s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Stalling is not a problem with banshees with lightened flywheel applications. Since it is a twin cyl, if im not mistaken, it fires every 180 degrees. Single cyl engines are the only engines that have that problem. Anyhow, do it, its one of the cheap mods that actually makes a difference.
