Not the plugs, but to make sure youve got spark on the right cylinder. Ive had bad luck with coils, I never trust em anymore... The plug wire caps always have problems as well.

What do the plugs look like? Right side you said? - Crank seal could be going. But i'd expect smoke from tranny fluid. But you said when you cleaned the carb it stopped backfiring? - Sounds like carb issues, are these stock carbs? Are the carbs synced? Have you checked spark? Maybe Plug wires/coil going bad? Just a few ideas that popped in my head.. Someone else will chime in.

DO NOT use that puller. You are risking ruining the flywheel by warping or taking metal chunks off the lips. Get a Banshee flywheel puller before you go any farther. If you already ruined your flywheel its not a bad idea to get a lightened one anyways! :biggrin: EDIT: If I were you i'd get a clymers manual before you do anyting else, the first time you split the cases it can get overwhelming, unless youve done a 4 stroke motor before then its cake. Your Shopping list (So Far): - Clymers - Flywheel Puller - YamaBond (If you can still find some, its been discontinued) - Gaskets/Seals (Crank Seals, Clutch Cover Gasket, etc.) - It's always a good idea to change them all out before reassembly.
