where not to take a banshee for repairs
96dragbanshee replied to 96dragbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
the count down is on. 30 days til i show up and court on a 3000dollar lawsuit. Going to have a badass bike when all is said and done. Took my bike to local shop the port job is ruined the case is cracked 4mil crank is broken. Left side cylinder is toast. Sorry for the guys that cant do a simple task without screwing up. The stator is shot 200watt Ricky stator (metal on the Magnets). Flywheel is fucked 2600 to fix by yamaha dealer not and that was lowball estimate is what they said. So more like 3500 probably to get totally fixed. -
Banshee dies when accelarated hard
96dragbanshee replied to #11 banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i agree jetting is probably your problem. Unplug the tors if it isnt already. That is the biggest pile of shit ever put on a banshee. -
could be reeds, tors, wrong mains mind telling us whether or not tors is removed what your mains are. If the reeds are still stock spend 15 dollars and buy some new ones. They are easy to replace and cheap but several things could cause this. The plugs you are running may not be hot enough if you are fouling them at low speeds and not at high speeds. this doesnt sound like a reed problem to me. Sounds more like a carb problem or tors problem. let us know and i will get back to you.

would you mind giving us the mods on your bike so we can set you up with the best bang for your specific quad. I run Trinity but probably not what you want for your type of riding give us a little info and i will surely help you with the route to go.
-
clean out the carbs. That is not normal. The fact that you tell me it stops once u take off tells me its dirty in there. Mains could be wrongs as well. you might want to post this in carb and jetting forum and see if they can get you more help.

right price on porting?
96dragbanshee replied to barely legal racing's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
well being a person from missouri and never heard of Jim evans I would be sending the damn motor to Jeff in Kansas. doing a car and doing a four wheeler is not the same. Sure he may build hella good cars. Now your trusting him with a quad you plan to run the shit out of. I would honestly not send to him you could get burned. I agree you should sell your jugs for some cubs so you know what u got. -
idles perfect but bogs on all gears when gased
96dragbanshee replied to tmac20031's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
get rid of the TORS. Next change the plugs they could be fouled. Drain gas if this doesnt help sounds like your too rich. your jets may not be the right size give us your location and we could help you out. -
right price on porting?
96dragbanshee replied to barely legal racing's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
give me the name of the guy in missouri. I live here and can tell you if he is any good. I send all my shit to jeff at F.A.S.T. he is best i know of and reallly good prices. Tell me the name of the guy and i will let you know if he is worth your money. 400 bucks is about right on the price but quality is what you are looking for in the porting not just cheap work by average guy. -
oil coming out of hose in front of motor
96dragbanshee replied to woodro77's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well i hate to say it but sounds like your bottom end has an air leak. Mine did the same thing when i had air leak. When u do a leak down test are your readings in the specs? If you did it yourself you may not have gotten the seal set good enough to stop air leaking. Do a leak down test and see if your in the specs. If you didnt get the torque right on all of the bolts when putting case back together you may have air leak causing it. Let us know what you find out with leak down test. -
good luck you will take him off the line but the coworker will win by 3 or 4 bike lengths because on asphalt banshee have a horrible time staying down. The whole trip will be on 2 wheels or u will have to set it down. 1/4 mile is little to long for a four wheeler. Let us know how it turns out.

where not to take a banshee for repairs
96dragbanshee replied to 96dragbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yeah but that doesnt even consider the fact that there is a crack in the bottom case so add more. I will have estimate done and let you know what they think. i am guessing about 3000 in a shop assuming the port work that trinity did isnt all fuc*** to hell. -
this is the last time i take my banshee to Hemans Atv repair in Creighton Missouri. I sent it to them to have idel screw put in my carbuerators. i get it back 5 weeks later and the first trip up the road the left one falls out and leans my left side causing seizure of the piston. To make matters worse the morons at the place failed to tighten the intake clamp between intake and carb on the same side. I search deeper and realize i now get no spark. I opened the stator side and find metal shavings. Tomorrow i will take bike to get estimate. Now when i kick my kick lever the flywheel doesnt move. Any ideas what this will cost to fix. Btw the motor leaks oil out of the bottom end horribly. What should i do? Sue them or fork the cost myself. Any suggestions?

newb...best,first performance mod
96dragbanshee replied to speel211's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
my philosophy on bikes is go big or go home. Start with a port job pipes and send bike off to become a stroker. The fever will hit and before u know it you will be fucking waste deep in the madness of four wheeler spending. Welcome to the forum. -
Well i am sorry to hear that u have a 200 watt stator by ricky cuz that is what i just had burn up on me. I am going balls out so i think i am going to talk to my sponsors about going with msd system see what they say
-
what is the best in the business for stator any ideas? Turning my bike into 6mil stroker needing ideas let me know thanks
-
it doesnt look good. New plugs and nothing. resistance on the stator nothing another 300 bucks oh well make the total on the bike 10000 dollars. Should have bought new one when i had the damn thing a part this winter. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
-
I rode my bike 2 days ago and tried to start it last night and had no spark. My leads have a resistance of 14.67 which is around where it should be. Is this a faulty plug problem. I have no spark and i have a brand new wiring harness new cdi new ignition new pick up coil. Help please. Thanks in advance. The tors is gone btw.
-
Hey buddy mind telling us if you have the TORS still on your bike? I would also check to make sure that the connections are well seated. I had same problem on my 96 banshee. If that doesnt work you may have an ignition problem being as that is the only thing that hasnt been replaced 52 dollars and all your electrical is good to go. My bike started acting up yesterday and now it doesnt spark. I will be tearing into it tonight i will let you know when i get into mine what else i find out.

Done mods. Now hard to start when cold
96dragbanshee replied to loosecannon350's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i agree bigger pilots for sure but that may not be the only problem tell us your altitude and i could probably help you a little more. Mains may not be right either. Get that info for us and i will be on later to help u a little more. -
all clutches are a little hard to pull but the fact that it was doing fine all day is not a great thing. First replace cable if that doesnt work take the clutch out and make sure the ball and rod are not getting welded together. This problem happened to me a year ago. It requires a splitting of the case to fix. Make sure your keeping plenty of oil in the bottom end. Mine ran fine all day and then clutch got tight and went to not pulling at all. the end result was 1100 dollars for rebuilding the motor from bottom up. You dont want to do that.

Another ruined day with another seized piston!
96dragbanshee replied to Wellsy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would agree with most people that is probably an airleak, but if u do a leakdown test and find out it isnt. Check and make sure ur spark plugs are the same brand and same number. Next check and make sure your carbs are sychronized. But my guess is airleak when was the last time you had the bottom end rebuilt or changed the crank seal. That could cause it. If you do all this message me if u dont figure it out. I may be able to help u more when i can get pictures of the piston. -
What are the downpoints of 20:1 versus 32:1?
96dragbanshee replied to night's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There are several advantages to running a mix of 20:1 despite the fact that it is a bit overkill. When breaking in a new top end I would suggest running a richer mix. But after u get it broke in 32:1 will do everything u need it too. The first advantage of running 20:1 is that ur rings will last longer for the few extra dollars u spend in oil. But the downside to this is the fact that u will most likely foul more plugs running this rich of a mix. Running this mix of 20:1 u will need hot burning plugs and have to make sure to check ur carbs for oil build up with i rich mixture like this. 32:1 is about the best mixture u can run todays oils are alot better than they used to be. Running 20:1 vs 32:1 is no real difference other than with 32:1 u will foul less plugs and ur carbs wont get gunked up as fast. Other than that the choice on ur premix gas is all up to you. Running 20:1 will save you no more money than 32:1 mix. I run hondas premix at 32:1 and never had a problem with my bike at that ratio. I havent tried to run any richer because of the disadvantages of doing it stated above. -
carb slides are clear down in the carbs
-
Everyone says it is airleak i need an idea of where the leak may be. It idles at WOT. If it is airleak would it be intake or could it be somewhere else.

96 and newer is cheaper because more of the part stores around dont stock 95 and newer i would know first hand having a 95, 96 and 04 banshee. The 95 costs me an average 2 dollars more for the same item because they always have to get ordered special. Especially when it comes to electrical stuff. The connectors are all different on the 95 to 96.
