  1. Ok so i just read the post below mine about backward slides. Rotating them doesnt make sense bcuz the sync dot will not line up in the sightwindow (my dots line up in the windows now) soooo backwards means change slides to the opposite carb?
  2. Slides bottom out . pretty sure they are in correctly. Could it need the larger pilots even though its fouling plugs?
  3. please help me troubleshoot my carbs. bike will not idle with idle screws all the way IN. I have played with the air screws and bike runs best with them screwed all the way out/removed. Oil fouling plugs and bogging at low rpm/idle, but runs great at mid/WOT. I have pulled carbs cleaned and rebuilt trying to find the issue with no luck. Whats my next step? Stock carbs recently rebuilt 290 mains/stock pilots 4250 elevation 26:1 premix yamalube r stock airbox w/o lid proflow filter vforce 3 reeds stock bore/stroke stock top end fmf gold exhaust br8es plugs
  4. need some veterans to condemn my strator!! I was attempting to mod my stock timing plate to an adjustable one. pulled the cover and found that the rubber gasket must have been leaking. Flywheel rusted to @#$%, Strator looks like it belongs in a cave it has so much oxidation on the copper, ( Bike was running decent prior to mod). Had lots of trouble breaking the bolts because the rust had ate away at all the heads of the bolts. sprayed a very small amount of CLR on the strator and let soak overnight. Next day strator was looking recognizable with a large puddle of white glump underneath. reassembled....bike would not kick over. pulled plug to check for spark...no spark! Check continuity on yellow and black leads from strator with 0 resistance. checked continuity from red and green wires from strator...had 0 resistance. i hate to spend $200 dollars on a part that was not in my budget for my build......just looking for someone to verify what i already know....Do i need a new strator???
  5. ive tried the 1.5 to 2 turns out on the idle/air mixture screw. When i do this the bike bogs down and dies and wont kick over again
  6. forgot to mention reed spacers as well to mods list
  7. bike won't idle at cold start in any temp weather, idles very low rpm once warm. Feels like i need to screw in the idler screws just a half a turn more would solve the problem. any ideas? 98 shee, stock bottom and top end, stock carbs/tors removed, 290 mains, 30 pilot, idle screws screwed all the way in tight, vf2 reeds, k&n filter, fmf gold pipes with powercore silencers, stock timing. elevation for eastern NM 4266ft
  8. blazer john....let me know if that 14.25 measurement works out for you.....i have the same issue i need to fix.
