  1. well guys i have 27.5 pilots and 300 mains i am in missouri. Jetting has never been a problem in the passed. I talked to my mechanic and he said to check the reeds. So i will do that. The tors is non existant. I have mikuni 34mm carbs. The throttle cable has tonnes of free room the slides are totally in and still the same. I was told air leak was the most probable cause. Tomorrow i am going to make an order of new reeds and seals for the intake and see if that works. Anyone got any ideas for reeds what to go with and what not to go with.
  2. break-in ratios with honda premix is 24:1. But to know the best mixture on another type is hard to say. I would suggest that if nobody knows anything about it to get honda premix and mix it 24:1.
  3. I would suggest that you check the torque on the springs of the clutch. They may have losened up. This will cause it to slip. The pressure plate needs to be examined for wear problems. If all of this is correct i would suggest you check the ball and rod and make sure they are getting oiled well. If none of this fixes the slipping i would suggest buying a barnett clutch. Even on a low hp banshee this would be the best route. They can withstand that and wont let u down in a month.
  4. The bottom end oil i was told by the guy that rebuilt my motor to use yamalube and if i didnt want to pay for it to use valvoline max life 10-30 he said that is the next best thing he could find. He specifically said do not put synthetic in it. I learned this after seizing my ball and rod in my crank. That was a expensive fix. As far as top end goes. I love my yamaha but i have to say in premix oil honda has the better shit. That is what i use. It seems to burn cleaner and i foul a hell of alot less plugs with it.
  5. check what on my throttle cable. The part that runs from the throttle or where it splits into 2 lines for the carbs? And what do i need to look for.
  6. air leak in the motor?
  7. Well i just finished all the work on my 1996 banshee. I started it up and it was idleing well above 1000 rpms. The idle was full throttle. Can anyone direct me to the possible problems. It is for sure not that the slides on the carb arent going in. The needles are totally in and the slides are clear in. I have the original TORs. Any help would be great.
  8. I have same mods with 300mains and 27.5pilots. Mine seems to run really well. As far as my needles go i have no clue where they are set. What part of missouri are you in?
  9. I will agree that any bike can have parts replaced. If you are wanting to save money i would buy a banshee that is 1996 or newer. (parts seem a little cheaper). I would also suggest looking for any sign of cracks and welds on the frame before purchasing it. Banshees are notorious for cracking. The next thing i would check is to make sure that the chain hasnt been thrown. They often do this cracking the case. This is rather expensive to start out if u have to fix that. The next place to look is at clutches and stuff like that. Drive the bike around make sure the clutch is solid unless u wanna go aftermarket. When all is said and done and your ready to tear it down be careful with the carbs and needles they do break. (learned by dropping mine) You may wanna check the needles to make sure they are not bent and or broken. This will be a good $300 fix.
  10. For all that thought the slides were in backwards this was not the problem. This is originally what i thought it was. So i checked that isnt right. I still have the TORs on my quad. The choke tube is hooked up. Is there anything else like a dirty carb that could cause this problem??
  11. Ok i just got finished redoing my bike. I had the motor professionally rebuilt by trinity. I stripped down the frame and powdercoated it. I went to start it last night and the damn thing idled so high that it sound like it was running in the powerband in neutral with no throttle at all. What could cause this. Is it jetting or streching the trottle cable wrong. Or just need to adjust the screws on side of carb. Give me some help.
  12. ok if it still doesnt work check the resistance on your ignition coil. mine did that and my ignition coil was shot. The resistance should be between 1000-4000 ohms. if that is right see if there is a short between a black wire in the harness and orange one. If there is then your bike will not start until you repair that. the ignition coil would be where i would start.
  13. well your first problem is that when you use a 15 tooth you will lose top speed but gain acceleration leaving 4 strokers behind. Try the stock ones first before purchasing a 15 tooth.
  14. clymers all the way i have had my bike down to raw frame and rebuilt it just by that manual. I would suggest smaller domes on a drag port. 21 is kinda big. Be careful on torque specifications you can really fuck things up it you do it wrong. Also make sure your seals are sealed good or it will leak bad sending a ll your money on the port down the drain.
  15. You say you are using these for trail riding i would definately suggest CPI pipes they have the best low to midrange power increase. If you plan to port these are definately the way to gol. They are better than toomys and cheaper the PT mids.
  16. all it takes is impact wrench then you dont need tool it spins fast enought to loosen it and when you tighen it get air torch wrench and torch to to that specification.
  17. For your toy that has 40 hours on it already, it is about time to be looking into rebuilding the top end to save money in the long run. As far as normal upkeep i would suggest running yamaha full synthetic oil in the bottom end. This is quite pricey but it has the best defense against breakdown. In the premix oil i personnally like the 2 cycle oil put out buy honda. It is by far better than the yamalube that yamaha puts out for two strokes. Run the highest octane gas at a regular pump probably 93 or 91 depending on the store. It is the best. THe biggest thing to remember about a quad like a banshee is that everytime you have to fix something on one cyclinder you have to do the same to the other side. The pistons and honing of cyclinders should happen about every 50 to 60 run hours depending on the mods done to your bike. dont wait until something goes wrong to rebuild or the cost will be very high. Spark plugs should be changed about every 10 hours assuming they dont foul before that. This makes sure that the premixed gas is getting burned. If you feel your new toy isnt performing on the plugs you got try a hotter plug or cooler one. If you are fouling them see if it is oil or carbon foul and change accordingly. The bottom end oil should be changed about every 4th or 5th ride. Banshees have a notorious problem of freezing up in the bottom end if not cared for correctly. To keep it in tip top shape always let your quad warm up and cool down before shutting it off. Failure to do this can cause crackinging in the case. That is a bitch to repair most of the time it requires a new motor. I run ngk br8es plugs they burn hotter and foul less.
  18. my 1996 banshee has been nothing but troubles from day 1. I have since rebuilt the top and bottom end. Due to a frozen ball in the crankcase grrr. Now i have a new problem. I had noticed for a long time that it would lose power over jumps. The next thing i know the damn thing wont start. A guy said it may be a pick up coil or stator. Is this right? I have it all off my pick up coil has resistance of 4 ohms. It just wont start. What does it sound like to you guys?
  19. i have a 1996 banshee with 66mm wiseco pistons toomey t-5 exhaust and clamp on k&n airfilters i have the stock carbs with 300 main jets. My elevation is at 909 feet. It does not run right what size mains and pilot jets should i be using. It stalls as soon as i take off then it goes. Should my jets be bigger or smaller? Thanks scott
  20. I didnt put anything back together the mechanic did it all. this is a problem. I put the 300 mains in last night and it ran fine i dont know if the weather affected them. I will find out today though.
  21. i have toomey t5 exhaust and k&n air filters right now
  22. this is by far the funniest thing i have ever seen. my shee could beat that beater in 3 gear. and if i am not mistaken blasters come stock 200cc if it is bored to the max wouldnt that number be a little higher. The idiot that buys that is a dumbass.
  23. I have a 1996 banshee. It has just been rebuilt from the bottom case up. The cylinders were bored. now i am using 66 mm pistons and it wont idel right. I have stock carbuerators. My main jet is a 300 is that to high. If it is what would you suggest getting? I am clueless. It needs to be done the dieing is making me mad.
  24. For all the John Kerry fans out there answer the following questions? How can you support a man that has spent his entire campaign trail being for the working man? I dont quite understand this being as how his only job is in the military and as a politician. The last time i checked politicians and military members are not your everyday working class citizens. This poses a problem. The military members today are the protectors of our freedoms. This is the same it has been since the beginning of time. Kerry when returning from Vietnam denounced the United States and there war efforts in this conflict. Is this the real type of leader you want? Now onto the job as a member of the congress, Kerry attended only 24 percent of the senate meetings pre nine-eleven. Then after nine-eleven attended no meetings in the senate. Do we see a huge PROBLEM HERE? I dont know about you but i sure do. This is just a few of the many reasons why Kerry lost my vote
  25. lets think about voting for kerry the man that all he can talk about is military history that can be taught in class i dont like a president to be so stuck on his self that he neglects his duties. Kerry will do this. it is only a few months before the election and what the hell does he stand for i dont have a clue it changes to much. When i look at bush i know already where he stands. John Kerry may have three purple hearts but breaking a nail is not a way to get one. He reminds me of a french man and in time of war i dont want the troops of our country with their heads kiss a$$ goodbye and this is what will happen.
