It's on a Friday - Saturday - Sunday, what do you mean you can't get time off to go one of those evenings? That must be some messed up work schedule you're on. It certainly wasn't just a show and shine last year. Pretty much every quad aftermarket company was there. There were tons of trailer and other vendors. I was actually dissappointed that I did not get to see all of the rail manufacturers. I think the reason that you really don't want to go is that you and your flatbiller buddies have a date to hang out in someones basement and listen to a Misfits CD. :baseball_w00t:

Save up your duckets and get some Fullbore's. Everyone's doing it.............................peer pressure. :baseball_mitt:

This is basically correct. Big Bore kits generally require the aluminum cykinder casting to be machined larger to accept a larger O.D. sleeve. :baseball_santa:

Somebody will have them for cheap at the Sand Sport Super Show. I think I saw some last year for $10. :baseball_original:

Would you like to sell the motor seperately? :baseball_bat: -
Double bump?

I am in the same boat for this one. I am not sure what I am doing more than a few weeks in advance. :baseball_santa:

That's the cheapest way to go. Even cruising the auto part store until you fins parts that fit winds up being more expensive. I did that in my college days. I suppose that is when my time wasn't worth as much. :baseball_innocent:

I have reserved two month's pay for spending at the show. I need to be careful because it's burning a hole in my pocket right now. :baseball_bat:

Parting Out Ol Blue's Engine
FireHead replied to BigRed350x's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
How much do you want for the complete engine, crank, cases, cubs, head tranny, etc, Bacically the everything between the two side covers? :baseball_mitt: :baseball_mitt: -
I have basically the same gussets as BigRed does. I don't have any pictures that show them very well. If he doesn't have any better picures. I might be able to scrounge some up. :baseball_mitt:

:baseball_original: A full AC dyno is the most accurate. Eddy current dynos are all over the place as far as quality and accuracy goes. Hydraulic and water brake dynos can also be extremely accurate. In fact I would alsmost go with one of those unless I needed some data ate extremely low rpm's. I am probably not motivated enough to get a test done in my free time, but I am certainly willing to help with technical support for your project.

I'm prety sure that this is not possible, though I haven't tried it so that i can't speak from experience. Any thing is possible with enough talent and time. :baseball_innocent:

Orange County Fair Grounds, September 15 - 17. I wwill be there all three days. I'll be easy to spot as I will be running around with a beer in my habd humping things that I cannot afford. :baseball_innocent:

That's a grand idea. I shall do that next year. :baseball_mitt:

There are some industrial rust preventatives out there that work great. On a smaller scale, many fishing shops have rust preventative oil for reels that also works well. I have never had a problem with rust as I don't camp directly on the beach. I try to stay back a ways from the water. There are less idiots back there and it is quieter. :baseball_mitt:

They did stop making them. The company, Pure Sports, that was making them, folded up. I haven't seen anything good from these tires at the dunes, but if you're not going to the dunes with them, they are probably fine. :baseball_mitt:

Here's my problem with what he talks about.............No one who does this kind of thing for aliving uses the terminoligy that he does. " High velocity port," "low velocity port," and "supersonic nozzle," there are no such things. If you going to design a port you are going to design it to flow most efficiently in the range that the engine will be operating the most. You are not going to do the same thing and then try to figure how stall the air flow. The FSAE people he spoke of have an interesting design problem on their hands, they are saddled with a displacement limit and having to pull through a restrictor in the intake tract. Therefore, ports are the easy part of these projects. You can't ever do better than supersonic speed through the restrictor, so that leaves you with getting the most non-overlapping intake pulses possible. He doesn't seem to be able to wrap hism ind around the problem in this case. The other thing to think about, is that the people who are on the leading edge of this technology, rarely commit any of this information to paper outside their company, let alone the internet. Most of the stuff you find on the internet for this type of subject is crap. There is a book that is currently published by the SAE called Ferrari Formula 1, that has alot of information on this type of thing as well as the principle are then applied to an engine scenario. It's a bit of an expensive book, but if you are really into this subject, then you'll love it. :baseball_santa:

My initial impression is that this guy is a bit of a hippie that has fallen victim to some of the "half sciences" that he speaks out against. I will study it some more, because there is some validity to what he is takling about. Cylinder scavenging via resonant tuning of the exhaust has been around for a very long time. I'll post some more about this when after I have thought about it some more. :baseball_shocked:

Personally, I do not believe that coils will make you any more horsepower. What higher technology coils can do, is charge and discharge faster and more completely. This nets you better throttle response and better high RPM perfomance. They can also charge more completely with less voltage, meaning that you bike may start easier. WHat it comes doen to is having a proper coil for you application. Past that, there isn't much performance to be had. :baseball_santa:

Moto Tassinari is a company that is full of the Italian and German equivalent of Arkansa hillbillys. From my experience, CFD systems are the best experimental tool for evaluating two stroke intake system designs. I have not seen mototuneusa's reduction porting. Post up a link. One thing that I do know, is that no one in the industry know's everything about anything. I am not sure RAD valves are not reccomended like the V Forces are. For the last 5 years I have alwasy done my own porting on a CNC mill. I don't know anyone outside of the top tier manufacturers that do porting in this fashion, therefore I never pay much attention to what other porters reccomend. :baseball_w00t:

Powerball...the polishing tool - not the lottery

Would it work for cleaning in between spokes on a motorcycle wheel? :baseball_original: -
Sorry about that, I was having a rough day at work when I posted that. It's the truth though. I tend to have a problem when folks claim to be right by flaunting their degrees, or soon to be had degrees in this case. :baseball_innocent: All that really matters is that you are happy with what you have and your bike runs properly. If your bike doesn't make 100hp or more, the type of reeds you have doesn't matter as long as they are a quality aftermarket set. :baseball_santa:
