I think some one sort of mentioned it. I posted the following awhile ago in this thread: "I would think that the potential for some sort of felt performance increase would increase if the application were a single cylinder, large displacement engine as they would have the strongest and longest intake pulse in the ATV and motorcycle market."

Don't take the following the wrong way, I couldn't figure out a good way tp say any of this without being an ass. To avoid reponding to each in full, please do a search in this forum on this topic. Your statements about lead in AVgas are misleading. AVgas is not always leaded. AVgas cna be an EPA controlled fuel depending on the fuel type. Race fuel is also not always leaded. Race fuels are also typically based on a different hydrocarbon string than AV or pump gas. Your commentary on how ignition advance ties in with the use of race fuel is misleading and mostly incorrect. Especially, the portion regarding the blow down time. You will not make any more power with pump, AV, or race gas if you make the assumption that you are using the lowest possible octane without detonation and the fuel does not have any oxygenation additives in it. The statements you made about alcohol is pretty much inaccurate as well.

OEM gaskets are always good. Cometic also makes a good gasket.

Removing Front Hubs From Spindles
FireHead replied to Bansh-eman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I had been messing with this thing for a few days now, but hadn't gone to the store to get any tools, here's what I would do. Try to figure out a way to fixture the spindle assembly evenly on a couple pieces of wood with the actual spindle pointing straight upwards. Obviously you will want the wood to be restong on the back side of the hub as close to the center as possible. Then, I would put a nut or something similair on the spindle to protect the threads, and I would beat the crap out of the spindle with the biggest hammer that I had in effect to drive the spindle downwards, out of the hub. -
I would truct this man's opinion over most other's (including myself) on this subject.

Happy Birthday!

How does a person come to have this information about another person?

This is an original problem if I am not mistaken. If I were to guess, there is probably something loose and/or messed up in your switch on the handle bars. The variance with RPM could simply be that a cricuit is closing as vibration increases.

Yeah, let us know. I grew up there and I am pretty sure I can come up with some place that sells race gas near you.

I sort of figured that he had no idea what I do for a living. It may really piss him off if he winds up being older than me. If I were researching things on the internet I would probably have better answers to questions than I have now. It's not like I run a dyno for a living, nor do I spend a very high percentage of my time near them. Like I told, Dave, it's all entertainment for me.
-
It's all just pure entertainment. I mean it's not like I am putting any thought into this thread, all I put in is what ever dislodges from my brain at the moment. If decided this thread needed a good all encompassing, informative post, I would take my time to deliver a structures answer to ojcool's questions and coments. Besides, it good typing practice for me (I fee like I am not as fast as I used to be).

Really....................no one thought that was funny.

What the hell, who goes to bed a 9:30pm (worst case current time in North America)?

i agree with you 100% except for the part about me being wrong. I we are speaking in generalities like you seem to be, then I am certainly right. If you would like to kick up a specific example, let's talk about it.
-
I think I mentioned them and ojcool quoted me. I was informed that we are only tlking about Banshees now.
-
Probably the only thing useful to you would be the comparison of fuel used vs. horspower made. If you are using a gallon of fuel to make 1hp (exaggeration) then there is porbably something wrong with your engine.
-
I am pretty sure that I do not know that as in many cases it is not true. On a road going car from the '80-'90's sure it's true more often than not.

I was just try to explain how the stock Banshee CDI worked. I thought we were talking about Banshee's where does the PCM come into play with them?
-
I swear that I have never tuned anything like this.

Common example of people who monitor fuel flow on their dyno's: Ford, GM, TRD, HPD, Kenworth, Freightliner, Gibbs racing, DEI, RCR racing, Andretti Greene racing, Toyota F1 (TMG), Cosworth, Ilmor, and the list goes on. You are never trying to figure out if you are lean or not based on fuel flow. You are calculating engine efficiency, fuel mileage, and several othe relationships between other measurements, when you are measuring fuel flow. :shoothead:

Easy there Wang Chung, you're the one that drug the Mustang video into this. WTF is a chip program. A timing map is great, but it is not representative of the timing of the actual spark at the engine, especially if the timing is a calculated value based off of a learning look-up-table. I will keep my comments stock Banshee specific from now on. In regards to stock Banshee timing, you are only going to be able to determine a spark profile at the cylinder. The Banshee uses a waste spark system where both plugs fire every 180 degrees of crank rotation. Knowing that and knowing the crank position, you are able to extrapolate total engine timing.

He sounds like my kind of guy.

Removing Front Hubs From Spindles

I'll check my schedule went I get back in town. I have could get you a set of credentials if you wanted to make the trip to Vegas. You might have to hang out with one of the car owners on top of a trailer for a bit while I did a bit of work, but I am sure we could find time to fix your bike. -
That's not really true all you need to know if the operation profile of the fuel turbine and the specific gravity of the fuel. It's really a quite common measuement that is done all the time. Even by Jethro and Billy-Bob with their Dynojet chassis dyno.

20 different data sources was a minimum number. 170 is more realistic for a dyno in a large racing facility. Measuring each one of the parameter that I mentioned before for each cylinder in a eight cylinder engine sucks up data channels very quickly. Of course on a four stroke engine you could be pulling temperature and pressure data from several other sources that are necessary on a fuel injected engine. I am not sure what you mean by measuring the differnt probes. Most sensor operate on the vrefernce voltage principal or the principal of resistance. If you know what your sensor is upposed to out put (resistance vs. temp. as an example of a thermistor) then it's pretty much a plug and play deal with the DAS. Measuring spark timing isn't that big of deal. Any twat with a timing light can monitor it on a remote coile ignition system. For coil on plug systems you have to use the negative signal on each or all of the coils. Most modern ignition systems provide a spark timing signal via the engine managemtn computers OBDIII or higher patch connector.
