Filling your tires with nitrogen is a legitimate thing. The basis for this is that nitrogen does not expand and contract with temperature changes anywhere near as much as normal air does. The 30% gas mileage increase is BS. 3% might be a more reasonable figure. The problem with it is that it costs more money for a shop to have a nitrogen bottle refilled than it does for them to fill your tires from their air compressor, therefore you get to pay extra for the nitrogen. Normally, I'd be all for doing something like that as it is not that expensive. However, what makes the nitrogen deal less of a good deal is that your tires will leak nitrogen just the same as they leak normal air. Since you lose up 1 lbs. per month on average from your tires and since you lose the benefit of nitrogen as soon as you pump normal air in your tires. I doubt most people have access to a Nitrogen bottle which means you really can't adjust your own air pressure in your tires if you are after a 3% increase in fuel economy. At the end of the day, you will save more money in fuel by making sure your tires are at a proper air pressure frequentle than you would by filling them with nitrogen. I hope that all makes sense as proof reading that ain't happening this morning.

Banshee Carburetors with TORS Eliminator Kit
FireHead replied to FireHead's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
-
I have a set of Banshee carbs with the TORS elminator kit which includes the idles screws for sale. They also come with K&N pod filters with black Outerwears on them. If it is needed I can also provide a new throttle cable and jets for your application (if I have them). These carbs are in very good condition and are very clean. I am selling these because simply have no use for them anymore. They sat on my shelf the entire time I was in SoCal. I found them when I was moving, listed them on eBay, and sold them. The buyer tried to pull some sort of scam that resulted in me getting the carbs back and refunding him most of his money. I checked over the carbs and made sure they are in good working order. Thus, here they are back up for sale again. These carbs sold for $265 on eBay, but I think that is sort of high. Past that I am not sure what these are worth nor do I have any idea how much I want for them. I guess I am going to be lame and ask for y'all to make me an offer. I take Paypal.

Can you toss up a better picture of that radiator? -
Word. TCS is awesome. Just watch out for some of the folks around Lake Elsinore if you go visit TCS in person. I think a few of them thought I had purdy mouth.

Like I said, it's all very subjective. I have the 6 links in my tool box to prove there are 114 links and a 14/42 setup is on my redbike. I have had friends with anywhere from 112 to 120 links on their +4 arms. :ermm:

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to bother typing it.

I doubt Teresa is going to bankrupt DEI. They are just going through a bit of a downturn. There are a lot teams that have gone through similair circumstqnces over the years. From what I understand Dale did a pretty good job shopping himself around before he bailed on DEI. He has offers from most of the Chevy teams. RCR is not where I heard he is going from what I know, but my gossip is probably not much better than Speedvision's.

Dale Jr. Will not be doing anything on his own as far as I know.

DEI has been spiraling around the drain for the last few years. Dale Jr. leaving wasn't a surprise. It had been known, within the industry, for a couple of week prior. Almost all of the good folks from that organization have been gone fore some time. FOr me it all started when Chuck Jenks abandoned ship. Within a two years, DEI will be a back marker organization. Without Dale Jr., DEI is just a museum. For the most part, Dale Jr.'s new team setup is already a done deal. I would guess that it will be thrown out to the media after or around Memorial day.

No one told me when I was going to school to be an engineer that I would spend more time masturbating Excel sheets than anything else on a computer. Atleast I have a couple folks to do that for me now. :geek:

You fixed your own problem before I had a chance to suggest that............

Unfortunately, that's the way to do it. There isn't a reall good way to measure what your actuall center to center distance is between your coutershaft and axle. Not all swingarms and adjustment mechanisms measure out the same and most certainly not within the length of half of one link. I have a 114 links in my +4 arm with a 14/42 gearing. With that said you should need 113 links. If you don't want to listen to the people who have told you to buy a 120 link chain and cut it down yourself that's fine. Atleast now you should have enough information to go and find out why everyone was telling you that. Hopefully you won't have to buy two chains (they don't let you return custom cut chains don't ya know).

I'd replace them the next time you need a rebuild and have cash. I have run worse looking cases than that.

It's not the same Pro-tekk. The Pro-tekk that was giving me trouble seems to be from New Jersey. There is also a Pro-Tech in Vancouver, WA that makes fancy stainless steel and aluminum truck accessories. I really don't know anything about the Pro-tec you dealt with, but he sounds like a real winner.

That sounds like a good plan.

Word. When it comes to the Banshee electrical system, Brandon knows his stuff (I rarely say that about anyone by the way).

I am pretty sure I have never bought anything from Ricky Stator........................., but I would like to make sure that people understand the dilemma you are faced with when buying parts such as this. You have to be really careful. No OEM is out there making there own parts such as this. They farm it all out to a large company such a Panasonic (for example) who them builds the part to Yamaha's spec. and delivers it. If a smaller company like Ricky Stator is to sell parts like this, they probably cut out the middle man and go straight to the plant that Panasonic contracted to make the parts. I am certain that there is a high percentage of scrap parts that come out of this 3rd world manufacturing facility and Yamaha is a large enough entity that they can absorb the cost of sitting on large quantites of parts to resolve the situation or simply testing all the parts that come in and scrapping them themselves (also absorbing the cost of the scrap parts). In the end I doubt Ricky Stator has enough resources to be doing something like that so they are simply assuming most of the parts they get made for them are good. The amount of good parts they get probably is determined by the unstable not-so-skilled labor force available where the parts are made, thus creating a large quality fluctuation. To put that all in simpler terms, if the manufacturing plant has a bad day, then Ricky Stator is going to have a bad day. It's a tough position to be in from Ricky Stator's side for sure, but that is not an excuse for selling bad parts and not solving the problems on their customer's end. If it were me, I would make sure I either bought OEM Yamaha electrical parts, or buy the parts from a distributor like RMATV who will stand behind what they sell even if the problem is not their fault. That's my HQ public service rant for the day.

Wow! That's impressive.

Anything that actually is a stator is generally Chinese garbage in some form or another. I suspect Yamaha just runs them through their own QC process before putting them in a Yamaha bag. :geek:

I'd rock a diaper if it allowed me go without moving off the couch, but then you're sort of stuck chill'in with your own turd until you go drop it off. I am not 100% sold on the idea yet.

I had a pretty good idea of what y'all did in general. I was just looking for someone to tell me a story............

I thought about using gasket maker on it, but I also imagined leaking fuel all over my bike in the dunes after that didn't work. I needed something more permanent to feel good about myself.

Word. That's hilarious. Maybe you and Dave can get together and swap hunting stories. I hear he used to do the same thing.
