Another spot very popular with the dirt bike guys for summer riding is Kennedy Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest. Take 395 north about 10 miles north of Ridgecrest/Inyokern and turn left onto J41 and go about 20 miles to OHV area. This is closed all winter due to snow. Elevation is probably 5000 ft and up so summer weather is great. If you go be sure and phone the Forest Service for details on services and requirements. I know you need quiet spark arrester and green sticker. This is all forest trails and forest roads. No dunes.

There are dunes and beach riding on west coast of Baja California only about 1 hour south of Tijuana. Article in June 04 Dirt Wheels mentioned this area named Cantamar Dunes. Summer is perfect beach weather on Pacific coast. Never been there but previous post here on HQ said it is not huge, is a serious party spot, and could be dangerous. Like all Baja riding, you do not want to get hurt there. Also need Mexican insurance.

Not exactly. They havn't merged and Suzuki is far from being THE BOSS. These are huge multi product corporations. They have only entered into a joint developement, manufacturing, and marketing agreement to help share the very high development costs of new products and to make there motorcycle/ATV operations more competitive with Honda and Yamaha. The big profit products so far to be shared are the Kawi developed and manufactured large V-twin road cruisers. Another big market is the tidler class of 50, 70, 100cc bikes. The 4-stroke MX bikes, sport quads, and utility quads came along next. I always had an aversion to Suzuki products in the past because of sloppy details compared to Honda and Yamaha such as low quality fasteners and poor fit/finish. But this may have changed for the better with the need to satisfy the other partner. But for me if I wanted a 400 sport quad for trail riding the Suzi/Kawi/Artic cat is hard to beat with electric start and reverse. I just hope they keep the electric start with reverse option for the trail riders and slow guys and then have a real lightweight barnburner fullrace model also just to keep Honda and Yamaha on their toes. Nothing brings out the best like real competition.

Get her a ride on both the raptor and the z400. My guess is that she will like the z400 much better. For the trails it has electric start and reverse which are both great. With just pipe, air filter, and jets it is pretty darn strong but still smooth and controllable for trails. And now if you have a good Kawi dealer, get their version in green or orange.

Watched A Cop Hit A Family In A Car At 100 Mph
oldturtle replied to stealthawd's topic in General Banshee Discussion
In my humble opinion, two people die because the police were chasing recklessly for the conditions. This happens all the time and what the hell does it get us? Nothing but dead innocent people. A few years ago in Fresno, Ca. county sheriff takes off after some scared 15 year old who borrowed his Mom's car and didn't make full stop at stop sign. The Kid runs. Cop speeds past grade school at 3:00 PM and kills 2 little girls walking home. The cops in high speed pursuits are very often taking too many risks for the situation and they need to get under control. If they can't tail them with a helicopter then they should let them go. We are not talking about The Boston Strangler or Bonney and Clude. In that case taking a little risk may be worth it . But not for some two-bit hoodlum who will be out on parole in 3 months anyway. -
There are some lessons here. 1) Don't buy a motor vehicle unless you receive a free and clear title from the seller. 2) Don't buy or sell anything from/to anyone under 18. Deal only with legal guardian. 3) Don't store anything for anyone unless you see proof that they are legal owner and even then charge them some storage fee like $1.00 per year and get it in writting. 4) Don't store anything for anyone under 18. 5) Get the title transfered into your name before spending $1500.00 on repairs. Any more lessons in here?

The Pro Flo design adaptor plate is much more secure than stock but I don't believe anyone makes a better foam filter than twin air.

Even sprocket specialists don't have the 37 rear. Here is what they do have; http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/html/yamaha3.shtm What are you trying to do road race that puppy? Thats some tall rear sprocket. Looks like either a 13-38 or a 14-44 might be as close as you can get.

My comp with stock motor was 105 psi at sea level so at this time my jugs and head are on their way to Patriot Racing in Sumner, Wash. for a bore, their hot trail spec porting, and their full head deck and squish fix for 91 oct Cal pump premium. I was very happy with the worn out motors power so this is gonna be like a dragster to me.

I see you are in Illinois. When I was looking seriously on ebay for a Banshee I realized that shipping cost was a real big unknown. Often the seller didn't even answer questions about helping with shipping.I would rec'm that you offer to crate up the Shee and deliver to a local low cost trucking company. If you do this you can get it shipped anywhere in 48 states for $300 or less from Illinois to nearest shipping terminal. Then the northwest and southwest guys could also get interested. With all the add on's you should start off at $5.0K reserve and slowly come down if you need to.

I just ordered some small stuff from Toomey, a standard twist throttle and tors eliminator kit. And surprise, they had the courtesy to notify me that they are on a short back order and will be shipped in a few weeks. Quite a difference from the treatment I got last month when I ordered a set of nerf bars from Gradon Proline. Nothing arrived for a few weeks and when I telephoned they said they were on backorder. Seems like most mail order companies will not tell you if something is backordered. Even if you phone order and ask if item is in stock they usually give you a ration of crap and say its in when it is not. Well thanks Kim @ Toomey. I hope others read this and give you a shout instead of the other guys.

Congratulations. That is one hell of an accomplishment. I think you are ready for Bahia de Los Angeles or have you already been there?

Came across some figures on dune heights but have no idea if data is correct or not. Glamis 400+ ft. high Oregon 500+ ft. St. Anthony 600+ ft. I have only been to Oregon dunes and some there are really monsters. For info only since no OHV use allowed are following; Eureka Dunes Death Valley Calif. 700+ ft. Great Colorado Sand Dunes 800+ ft. I would sure like to hear back from anyone with better info who may have factual data on dune heights. I got tired of searching. The Eureka Dunes sure don't look as high as the Oregon Dunes when looking from the highway. Maybe they are just too far away.

Thought for the day for anyone inclined to believe TV news. Came across this on other forum; This is a letter from Ray Reynolds, a medic in the Iowa Army National Guard, serving in Iraq: As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.) * Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations. * School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war. * Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons stored there so education can occur. * The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from ships faster. * The country had its first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August. * Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq. * The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war. * 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before the war. * Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in place. * Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city. * Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets. * Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country. * Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers. * Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever * Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs. * An interim constitution has been signed. * Girls are allowed to attend school. * Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years. Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening. KRMit, I tried to phone them but they close at 5:00 EST and was too late. So can't answer on price, just another option to check.

I absolutely will vote for Bush again. The other option is too horrible to contemplate. This election is not only about the war. It is about fighting invironmental extremism, it is about fighting against trial lawyers rights to collect obscene settlements, it is about realistically getting a handle on spiriling health costs, it is about keeping the government out of setting rules where they have no business, it is about slowing the rate of increases in federal taxes, it is about preventing additional closures at Glamis Dunes, it is about keeping balanced leadership in charge of BLM and National Forest Service, it is about avoiding further unwise restrictions on cars-trucks-motorcycles- and our beloved Banshee, it is about fighting against federal legistation giving gay married couples all the federal rights of men/woman marriges, it is about keeping someone in charge with BALLS to do what is right against terrerism, and on & on. I have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren and I am very concerned about their future. I want them all to enjoy the same opportunities that I have enjoyed. There is no doubt in my mind that Bush and the Republicans will do a much better job of providing for their future than the Democrats.
