hahahaha..funny stuff. Be glad that at least she'll join for the ride though

Oh yeah, stocker is definitely better but fuel is important. Lookin at mine in the corner of my room here and its a monster. Lookin at the pics on their site, well.. it looks like they have some riser setup on the one in the pic. Their site is like half-broken anyway. Eh what can ya do. We tend to take long cross country trips and I'm now the most prone to run out of fuel..hehe. Not any more! Lemme know if you find anything out about the mounting..

Well you'll need a new head gasket, assuming it is a stock head. The Noss and ProDesign Cool Heads use an O-ring seal which is spiffy, but the stocker uses a good ol head gasket to my knowledge.

Yup.. knew it would make a pretty good difference with the intake and pipes. Had a few vents in it but nothing special. Runs like mad without it, thats for sure! Figured it would never see the mud and that the airbox could just be removed. Very first ride... nothing but mud! It kept clean still though. Seems to be jetted fine for the weather with that setup. Not complaining! Losing the airbox lid was the best thing ever though.

I am so glad you are asking... I have O'Neal bars and my 5.6gal IMS tank just arrived Friday (ebay special!). Should prove to be an interesting install... how's yours look, other than that? Real big and fugly?

Protein shake? kidding..

Hehe... I remember putting it in 1st and creeping down the side street riding one-handed.. other hand was across my abdomen.. huddling over the gas tank in pain.. but if the little lady asked, it was to reduce wind resistance... at 15mph. That one pretty much sums it up. Riding double is no problem now. It was half my fault anyway for not properly bracing myself. Lived and learned. Took a few hotties for rides before meeting my current gf.. and lemme tell you, sometimes its *nice* when they don't brace themselves. My gf (for the past few years, not the same girl though) is pretty good though. Can't complain about her..

Silver Lake - Opening Weekend - Who's Going?
nater006 replied to Brian G's topic in Riding and Events Forum
My parents place is <30 minutes from there, just south of Ludington. I'm definitely game for a trip to Silver Lake. I'm in Ann Arbor, a few hours away, but that's a short trip... Lil worried about my Toomeys not "making it in the door" though. Haven't ridden there on a Shee before.. just CR500s and the 250R. Already gotta buy a spark molester kit for it eventually. -
Ah, man that sucks. I'm sure you'll get out of it fine though.. witnesses are hard to cover up, and considering the information and proof you have regarding his eyesight... you shouldn't have any problem getting out of that. Totally sucks though.. sorry to hear that. I agree on the eyesight thing. Lots 'o people out there shouldn't have a license. Maybe not even because of eyesight but because of lack of reflex, reaction times, etc..

Hehe... I tried mine. Popped it in 6th gear and held the tire with my foot (didn't think of tying the brake pedal down.. d'oh!) and tried to back that nut off. No dice. Just going to do it on Friday with dad's impact wrench. I bet it gives about .01 seconds of resistance before that badboy takes it off.

Well, having it less restrictive or a larger diameter is the only stuff you could do. If your stockers are pretty straight-through in style (never seen any stockers unfortunately..) then there won't be any power gain to go to the Coffman ones. Removing any restrictions (e.g. spark arrestors..hehe) is the way to get better performance out of it. As long as the stocker is roughly the same diameter of pipe, there'll be next to no (if any) performance gains by going aftermarket.

Eh, everything has its place. When all is said and done, the only twin thing that *really* matters is the engine itself. The others just enhance it. For the folks that like more low end, the 2-1 carb or pipe setup is spiffy. I agree in my own roundabout way that keeping everything twin is great cause I like a screamer of a quad... but to each their own!

Its a cbr900rr goof but still a ride of shame... Took the little lady for a ride on it. She hadn't been on a bike before and I hadn't ridden double. Hit the front brakes a lil at a stoplight.. she slid into me and I slid into my gas tank. Nuff said. Just gritted the teeth and dealt with it but she asked why I turned down the side street and went real slow for a lil bit...haha. Braced myself on the seat a lil better till she got motorcycle legs and all is good

Hmmmm... might give one of those a shot if it comes along for the right price. Your pic didnt show up, boonman.. at least not for my stupid Windoze machine..

Dumb question.... Is this stuff OK to use? Despite the "Injector oil" it also says "suitable for pre-mix applications at 50:1" on the back panel. It isn't the 2000 series oil or anything but... I'm assuming this stuff is fine to use also? (50:1) Oh yeah... Just found this post (after posting the above, of course..haha) http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...pic=21125&st=15 Hope it doesn't go kerboom. Maybe will mix it at 42:1 or something instead..hehe.

Quad came with 4 qts of Yamalube 2-R. Seems to be good oil. Mixing at 32:1. Picked up a gallon of Amsoil and am going to try the 50:1 with synthetic. Haven't heard a single negative thing about them. Used to be a huge Klotz fan back in my CR500 days..

Yup -- JB Weld/Quicksteel are good. Only problem is that they seem to be pretty vibration prone.. but for a quick-fix, its great. Used to use JB Weld before they came out with the quicker stuff -- now it has like a 4-minute sit time. Crazy. Good call though... definitely good stuff for the trailside fix.

Toomeys are definitely for the top end.. the low and mids aren't anything special but boy when you're in the wide open fields you'll love the Toomeys! If you ride more trails and stuff though, you'll probably like those FMF Fattys a bit better.

You'll discover how much easier it is to do with a smooth powerband. My T5s, +4 timing, and porting make it a terror on mine. Not really used to it yet.. only had a few short rides since purchasing it (oh well..). Gearing has a lil to do with it, too.

Man, I pop my seat, pull the carb slides just so I can twist 'em over further, and twist them horizontally and change the jets (Mikuni carbs). Also put a piece of orange flagging clipped to the choke tube so i don't forget that Twist 'em back, tighten stuff up, put the slides back in, and go. 10 minutes start to finish, usually. 5 if I have the cordless drill w/ phillips bits handy

Mine's off and the jetting is bumped one size. Guy I got it from said 220 was good for the weather. The 240s that were in there were way too big. So i popped the lid and re-jetted with 230s and voila.. it was good. That is to say that the guy i got it from knew what he was doing... hehe.. but you can't hurt it to bump it up a size and give it a shot.

I asked the same question (rear shock only, tho) a bit ago.. someone PM'd me and recommended TCS for the rebuild. Looks like $100 for the basic service on the rear, $130 for both fronts. http://www.ctracing.com/suspensi.htm

The blaster pegs seem to be a worthy mod. just watch your toes on the kickstarter. Heard a couple different people have an ooopsie when kicking it.
