  1. That could also be caused by a leaking head gasket. See it the plug on the bad side has water beaded on it, just to rule that out.
  2. He's lightened 2 of mine. I think turn around time was less than a week, but he may be busier than when I sent my last flywheel out.
  3. Worse case scenario, put the nut back on about a turn and hit it with a sledge hammer, or I believe you can stick a punch in the hollow part of the bolt to keep from damaging the threads, and hit it. The swingarm has needle bearings, not bushings. Mine were demolished completely when I replaced them. It took forever to get the outer bearing race out of the swingarm.
  4. It will be addictive. I remember when I came to this site for the first time for to re jet for my new T5s (I didn't have a clue then.) Now look at my sig....
  5. Timing advance +4.........then check compression to see if you need a mix of race gas. If the compression is too high (>150 psi or so), you can back the timing back off and stay with 94 octane. I had a head milled 0.020 and I had right at 150 psi, with +4 timing and it ran fine on pump gas, but that's borderline.
  6. What temp and elevation? Assuming 75 degrees and sea level: stock pilots, needles in middle, 330 to 350 mains. Adjust for different elevation and temp.
  7. Thanks all. I'll ask more specific questions after I meet with some people.
  8. I've been asked to help set up a 300 ft dirt drag. I need some help with classes and rules. I'm sure we won't have much of a turn out the first time or so, and the owner probably won't invest in lights or anything just yet. We will probably just have some one flagging and someone judging the winner. We're not gonna have nitrous or alcohol burning Banshees or anything like that. I picture more stock utility ATVs showing up as much as anyone one else...and some mildly modded YFZs, 450Rs, Banshees, and Raptors.
  9. Find someone with a hydraulic press. I bent a sprocked hub pounding the absolute shit out of it with a 10 lb sledge hammer and it still would not move.
  10. It should have plenty of bottom end and midrange for sure. I'm not sure about the Dyna FS AND a timing plate though. Won't the ignition advance the timing also? I've never had an aftermarket ignition, but I'm sure someone will clear that up.
  11. It should have some type of o-ring or something, from what I remember on mine. Not necessarily a big rubber gasket like the stocker.
  12. Stock Raptor front shocks will fit on a Banshee, the rear Raptor shock won't. Not sure if that applies to works shocks or not.
  13. That's exactly what I was thinking. It can be a little rich without killing the bottom end. Your probably just not used to the lack of bottom end power that Banshees have.
  14. I'm almost 100% sure that your carbs are not sync'd. Take your filter off and look at the slides to make sure they setting the same distance from the body of the carb and are moving at the same time.
  15. I had some on 30 mm pwks once, though I think the 30 mm PKWs are bored out 28 mm carbs. They were a SOB to put on, but they worked.
  16. Were the new electrical parts you tried all in known good working condition? This definitely sounds electrical, but you could try a different set of carbs just for the hell of it, if the pressure test checks out.
  17. I've only bought 1 drum of Klotz so far. I buy from a Klotz dealer that I know, and he swears that HE pays around $500 or so for 55 gallons (from what I remember), and I think I bought it for about $515 if I remember correctly. It's SUPPOSED to be better gas b/c each drum is analyzed for octane rating and some other bs. I can get turbo blue at a decent price close to here, but I haven't researched its quality. Didn't mean to turn this into fuel comparison thread, but I welcome all opinions. Thanks.
  18. Yeah, I locked one up.....ran the right carb out of gas. I'm not a cheapskate, so I'll probably stay with 108. BTW Klotz gas is about 10 bucks a gallon.I've thought about alky; but purging seems like such a hassle. If I get beat on my 421 by a DS650 on nitrous (local rival of sorts), I'll go straight to alcohol.
  19. Any chance in hell I can safely run a mix of race/pump gas? My drum of 108 Klotz gas goes quick with 2 Cubs (I let a buddy ride one). I'm just getting a concensus of opinions. Thanks.
  20. YFZ Central Post at this forum, they can help. If he just installed the Athena 480 kit, pump gas is fine. The compression is only 12:1, I think. The oiling system does suck on the YFZs (don't get me started---two motors=two rods through the front of the case, broke away from the piston). The oiling problem is with the bottom of the piston, not necessarily the rings, unless it was very low on oil, which would be my bet. I think it's hard to get a 4-stroke lean enough to lock up, it still has lubrication, unlike a lean 2 stroke; and it would be backfiring like a mofo if it was real lean. Has the top end been taken off, or are you just assuming it was the rings?
  21. I have nothing to add about the jetting, but the Pingel won't necessarily stop you from running the bowls dry if you hold it WFO very long, or even intermittently down a long road.
  22. None of the above. The first one that I shredded I assumed it had been over-tightened. I put another one on (the cheap ones on magic racing) correctly and rode around a lot by my house (breaking in my newly demolished Cub motor). The ground was bumpy allowing the swingarm to move up and down quite a bit. When I got back to my garage, the roller was trashed. The chain's tension is fine. I have the lowering block on the swingarm that puts it slightly lower than stock, and the chain rides very tightly against the roller at all times, at least the 45 seconds it was on there.
  23. Clymers shows how to adjust the movement of the shifter, i.e. how far to push down to downshift and how far to pull up to up shift. They may help with some of your problems
  24. Both my Banshees eat upper rollers for lunch. The roller is destroyed just riding around a minute or 2.
  25. Yeah, that's what Jeff said. I didn't think the cylinder was damaged at all, just aluminum smeared on the inside, but the local machine shop guy said it looked like the nikasil plating was damaged, so I just boxed 'em up, waiting for UPS to pickup as we speak. If they can just be washed out and honed, maybe Jeff can do that and not send them off to the nikasil plating people.
