  1. Yeah, good product. I've had one in my 392 cub for 3 years. Only signs of wear are from the idle gear clip coming off and banging around inside the clutch cover.
  2. SSTs seem to rev quicker and come on sooner than fatty's, while maybe sacrificing a little on top. Great pipes. I have a set (with silencers) I'd sell.
  3. Burned ground strap = hole in piston or scarred piston and cylinder if the psi is 60. Leaned out.
  4. Stators will act up at random unfortunately, making problems difficult to diagnose.
  5. Yep. +4 degrees.
  6. To add to that, don't do the shift star mod if you go with an override. It won't work if you go with neutral down. I've read a lot about trail riding and mxing dunable overrides, but I have no personal experience with then with that type of riding. I will say that I treat my dunables like full overrides; just to be safe.
  7. What oil ratio do you run? Mine always smokes like a freight train until it gets warm...probably due to flooding it with the choke to get it running (my pilots are too lean for cold temps) Very odd to not smoke at start up.
  8. Ohh..so once its chromed, it can't be pc'd later?? That was my last resort if the chrome was bad, or went bad later on. If that is the case, chrome is out. Definitely don't want to mess this chassis up. Its one of a kind, and he quit building them soon after this one.
  9. Resistors are in the PLUGS not boots,,,and the lighting coil is different from the part that fires the plugs. You can have lights and a bad stator.
  10. He said there's NO smoke after warming up...that's the opposite of water in the exhaust. It could mean the jetting is a little lean. or it could mean its spot on. My stocker barely smokes when it warms up in this cooler weather. Runs like a champ. Just do a plug check..if it turns out good, I wouldn't worry about it.
  11. You didn't mention changing the stator. You've pretty much ruled everything else out. I had a stator go bad and did exactly what you describe. I don't think the the boots have resistors do they???
  12. Damian Cole (quick16) does good work. Mods, if that's too many pics, I'll take some off - just wanted to show the welds to see if they look good enough.
  13. 120ish depending on elevation. You didn't waste any time getting parts and getting it put back together!!
  14. I want to get my new quick16 chassis chromed. Who does good work and can actually do this?
  15. Damn that sucks. Are you holding the throttle wide open and kicking the crap out of it until the needle quits moving??
  16. Not sure about +7 timing and your compression with pump gas...but why do you have 35 mm pwks and a stock port motor? Your killing the potential of the motor with carbs with big. You don't have enough intake velocity for those. Or do you mean a 2 into 1 35 mm PWK..that would make more sense.
  17. That's exactly what mine is doing, minus the idling problem. Sorry I didn't read your original post better..you had already addressed 2 of the questions I asked.. You could always go to a bigger pilot and see if that helps...that's what I plan on doing.
  18. What else is done to the engine?
  19. How do you know its lean at idle? Is the engine warmed up? YOu can't tell anything until it gets up to operating temperature..and I would think it would be impossible for the pilot to be lean with stock pipes. You're not running E85 or some other ethanol blend are you? My stocker with T5s is a bitch to start with stock pilots with only a 10% ethanol blend. Was always fine before with stock pilots.
  20. Exactly. I've seen a lot more carbon than that on motors that ran great.
  21. Also, get rid of the stop on the thumb throttle if you haven't already.
  22. Same here. Seems like a good idea, though.
  23. I like this place: Magic Racing
  24. Second thought, you should have ordered the pistons first, then taken them to the machine shop. They should know the tolerance, as it is directly related to the bore size (don't remember at this time); and the ring end gap is something you would check. Someone will post those tolerances, I'm sure. I don't remember what they are.
  25. Yeah, just make sure that the clearances and ring gap are within tolerance.
