  1. It's been my experience that it falls out on its own at the most inconvenient time. I went to test and tune at a track, and decided to make some adjustments on my carbs overnight for the race the next day. Got called to the line and the bowl was pouring out fuel. Took it off and the pin was gone. A friend found it on the ground in the pits near the trailer. Don' t know how I got luck enough for that to be found. So to answer the question....Yeah, just use punch or paper clip or something, or just shake the carb and it will fall it most of the time.
  2. Just check your plugs as mentioned. Be sure to start with new plugs.
  3. That's awesome. 4.1s with no override in a stock chassis. Put an override on it and it should be in the 3.9s!!!
  4. If a KX500 motor was good for drag racing, more people would build them. The guys that build a big single start with a CR or TRX 250 engine, not a 500 cc of any type. Would it be fast? Probably. Should it beat your average (any size) Cub? no. It definitely looks like a death trap though!!
  5. Yeah, stock boots will work but they are a PITA. I didn't know about the boiling water trick when I had some 28's once.
  6. DS650 based ENGINES on the ones I speak of. And I'm talking about 300 ft on sand. Only 3 in the country that I'm aware of that will run sub 4.0 in 300 ft. Yeah, I probably wouldn't want to mess with a busa, lol. I saw a turbo busa in a DS chassis go 3.7s with a 240 lb rider and he had to clutch it--no override!!!
  7. I wouldn't be afraid to race any stock chassis 4 stroke on my stock chassis 421 Cub (with the exception of 3 DS650 based bikes.) That said, the Raptors do run pretty damn good. Mine is a turd, but It needs the correct fuel map programmed into the PCIII, I think. Haven't ridden it in almost a year.
  8. Not sure you can tell a difference in alky and gas domes by looking; nor do I think there is a great perfomance difference between the alky and gas domes. I run gas domes on my 4mil alky Cub and it runs great; faster than a lot of others like it.
  9. Thanks again. I've contacted the seller of the tranny and he is sending me the springs.
  10. Thanks all. I f'n wasted half a day putting cases together and taking them back apart b/c those springs were missing. I assumed that I would have got them with the tranny if they were needed. My other overrides have them, just thought maybe this one was different.
  11. Bought this used. Has no springs and the gears will bind up when turning by hand.
  12. NO way. Where do you think you're going if the back tires lock up? I don't see any support other than the handle bars (for you to break your wrists/arms/neck/legs/balls over).
  13. His motor is stock stroke and no portwork, I think. Just scanned the thread. edit: Actually, if he as a 4 mil, and aggressive porting, 38s would be fine.
  14. My 14 mil Cheetah may be there with a jockey, but I won't get to go. Orange with white pearl fiberglass. Can't miss it.
  15. 250x is a four-stroke. Can't use that carb anyway.
  16. Yeah...be careful not to get it in a port/transfer. Did that once, and if fell to the bottom. Got lucky getting it out because the motor was on the bench.
  17. ONce you top off the radiator, you usually don't have to re-check it after circulating the coolant. It doesn't really get air pockets like a car engine.
  18. I agree that programmable cdi's aren't a waste of money.
  19. 0.020'' and 0.018'', respectively.
  20. Just lose the airbox lid. The pro-flow K&N is fine. I wouldn't spend money to upgrade from that to pods. Advance the timing +4. Put in fresh plugs and do a WOT plug check to see if your jetting is good. YOu can have the head shaved 0.020'' and should bump up the compression about 20 to 30 psi. You should still be able to run pump gas.
  21. magicracing.com, in addition to those mentioned above (except Trinity...trinity sucks
  22. Or you can sometimes bend the clutch arm down...
  23. What are your current mods?
  24. Don't waste your money. The stock CDI is fine.
  25. Shouldn't a 10 mil be good for about a tenth over a 4 mil in 300ft? (same setup, etc.) I don't think my 4 mil stock chassis will every see 3s (with me on it), but I'd like to think with a good 10 mil in the same chassis I could run 3.90s all day long.
