Put a fresh set of plugs in a WARM motor, ride it pinned in 6th for 20 sec or so, pull in the cluch while still in 6th, shut off the motor with the kill switch. Coast to a stop. Remove the plugs, put the old ones back in, ride home and do a plug chop. If you don't know what that is, do a search on here. Tell us what you find on your plugs. This is one of the fastest ways to tell where your jetting is, and where it needs to be adjusted to. You have a top-end sputter, so this means your mains are the problem fuel circut. If you are new to Banshees, educate yourself on jetting. This is must-know info for you. That being said, you prolly need to be above 300 on your mains.

Get a sport port template for $90 and do it yourself. Some of these shops are turning out the port jobs by the boatload. I've never seen any consistancy with Trinity or any other big shop. 2 of my buddys sent their jugs to Trinity at the same time. They ordered the stage 3. Not only did the two port jobs look completely different/ inconsistant, I smoked the both of them time after time. I have 3 seasons on my motor to boot. One of the trinity jugs didn't even have the intake edges rounded over. These shops make it seem impossible to port your own motor. But then again, they want your money. Lets see that 70+ dyno on a stock stroke. I call BS.

Save all of the packing and boxes that your piston kit came in. Wiesco won't question it when you send the stuff back in their own packaging. They should pay for the bore, too. Check out the head,as that could be damaged as well. If it needs sleeves, you might think about a big bore kit

things to look for on used banshees
SANDSTAR replied to gixxer_sixxer's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Great list! I would check the compression after the bike was warmed up. You need to give the electrical system the hairy eyeball. Check for broken harness connectors. sometimes they can be hard to take apart and end up broken, and once broken, they don't tend to stay together very well. Follow the entire wiring harness. Make sure that there are no wires with scorch marks (touched hot pipe) or electrical tape(wire was cut for some reason) Make sure that the lights /taillights work. -
a fella named jt runs trips from back east to glamis. check the riding events forum. sounds like he has a good thing going.

make one out of a bud light 18 pack cardboard box. Last time at the dunes, I had a buddy that had rebuilt his topend before the trip and had somehow bent his head gasket before putting it on. He thought it would be ok, but it started leaking as soon as the motor warmed up. Some old dude came riding up on a 185s as we were looking at the situation. He told us to cut one out of a Bud light box. My buddy ran with a bl gasket all weekend. Worked great.

Take the frame and any other greasy parts to the local self serve power-spray car wash. Get a bucket, set the power washer to "Engine Cleaner" and spray the parts down, then fill the bucket halfway with the engine cleaner, get a good brush, and scrub that crud off. If these parts are going to the powder coater, they don't have to pe perfectly clean. They will sandblast the parts before they coat them. You need to inspect for stress cracks that will need to be welded before it gets coated. Make sure to spray wd-40 on any bare metal areas to keep it from rusting.

Take the minimalist approach and pull the old ones off and don't put new ones back on. Sometimes less is more.

go to your local small airfield and get you some aviation fuel.

but her tits look like her sisters.

I have the IMS bar mount. I think it is actually made for a mountain bike, but mine fits great. I'm running an e-trex, which I think is the same size as the legend.

Let it rain! Az/Cali rainstorms work like this.......Rains cats and dogs for 20 min, sunshine for 3 hrs, rains to beat hell for another 15 min, next thing ya know, your gettin sunburn. You eastcoasers just might get some nice virgin when you get there. Storms tend to smooth out the sand. Wet sand + banshees= massive wheelies!!!!!!!! Tighten your chains, fellas. You are gonna spin at the sprockets if you go loose. Wet sand hooks like crazy. Thrown chain +broken case= tears and beers. See you thursday at the hill. I'll be the black banshee that you can't catch!

Ahhh, I rember my first ride. Hit the powerband, slid sideways, hit a creasote bush with my rear wheels, flipped her over on her side, bent an a arm and shock, sprained an ankle and both wrists. Even though I couldnt jerk off for a month, I was hooked. Powerband affects me like hookers affect bill clinton.

That was great! wonder how far that little shit went

Hope those trucks don't end up in mexico

Yeah, you will see a diffrence. You will finally be able to fuel the porting. My engine seemed alot "deeper" after I got the carbs. Had a problem with fouling plugs at the pilot circut, but that was fairly easily fixed.
-
I was thinking the same question. If the rockets somehow smooth out the hit, I don't want em'.
-
I think you will be okay. Do a plug chop to check your jetting. If it's ok, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe try to force a little high temp silicone into the holes.
-
R u fouling plugs when you putt around?

Prolly not a good idea to leave it running sitting still for too very long. May heat up on ya. Try some of the old fuel you used to run. Check your last mod you did on your bike. If it was running good before, most likely whatever you did had some kind of adverse effect. Heard about a guy that changed his shocks on a car. Next thing his car won't stay running. Got all frantic, couldn't figure it out. Started replacing stuff. Spent $2500. Finally found the problem--One of those new shocks had pinched a fuel line closed. Usually somthing simple.

Not enough info, bro. Where are you riding(elevation Temp of area what porting do you have ,if any I've run 340 mains on stock carbs at Glamis with t-5s. Just depends on your set up
-
Solid. Now maybe I will buy some rockets.
-
Maybe put your old carbs back on and see if that fixes the prob. This will at least let you know if it is the carbs or your bike.

Why do people cut off there FRONT FENDER FLARES
SANDSTAR replied to MeanHoTRoD_93883's topic in Product Reviews
Ok, wacha wanna do is mask the area with masking tape,(keeps the jig saw base plate from scratching up your fenders) get a dry-erase marker and mark a line where you THINK you want to cut them. Step back, take a look, erase the line and play around with it until you are happy. If it is your first time, make a couple of cuts on the outer piece of the front fender(you will toss these pieces anyway) to get the feel of the way the jigsaw cuts through the plastic. GO SLOW. Make the cut along your marked line. Remove the tape. Get a file and GENTLY remove any fuzz, also put a bit of a radius on the edge. Get a butane torch and CAREFULLY run it along the edge that you just cut. Don't stay in one place. Practice this on a piece of scrap fender before you try it on the good fender. This will round over and polish the edges, if you do it right. Post pics!
