Make sure you find out what the hidden costs are. They wanted to charge me $9400 for a YFZ 450. Alba makes great claims (all the basic mods for same msrp) but then they tack on huge "dealer handling fees". They're great for parts, but I'd never send them my engine. Check PassionRE on this site, everybody seems to love his engines.

As far as I could tell, the PC2's and the turbine core 2's sound pretty much the same. The TC's have a spark arrestor though which might be required in your local riding area. For mods, go on ebay and type 'banshee'. On any given day you'll probably get about 30 pages worth of parts to browse.

Welcome to California! A bone stock, semi beat up 91 Banshee sells for $3500 here. Throw some mods on it and clean it up and you can get $4500/$5000 easy. I've called a half dozen dealerships out here and so far $7k is the best I've found for an 04 and I had one place offer $7550 for an 05. I prefer my local dealership, nice guys, pretty good service, and straightforward. I'm the same way as Matt, I'm not gonna buy something outta state and do some crazy IRS tax evasion thingy just so I can save a grand. So while I appreciate the info, I'll probably end up spending too much money and laughing it up like a damned fool!

Ok here's the numbers I've gotten so far: Cycle trader has one 03 300ex for sale in my area right now for $4000 firm. Same paddles as my wifes, but otherwise stock. Her's also has a $420 big gun exhaust system. local dealership- offer me probably $3300 for the 300ex if its in as good of condition as i said. 04 yfz for $7000 OTD 05 yfz for $7600 OTD 05 special edition for $7900 OTD Alba- (comes with pipe, graphics kit, k&n, seat cover, tag bars) 05 yfz - $9338.69 OTD!!!!!! I think they're smoking crack. I asked the guy "why so expensive" and his basic response was blah blah blah....$1350 dealer handling fee...blah blah blah. Dude...some deal that is. Matt, that's sweet that you bought Shannon(?) a YFZ too! Riding season is just starting out here but we do have the deals going on the 04's. Looks like we're moving to North Carolina in the somewhat near future. Not much closer but kinda...I can't wait till Britt hands my buddy (who just got a new Predator) his ass at Dumont.

So I laid down the law last night: Baby, I'm gettin' a YFZ, and if your nice and supportive maybe I'll let you ride it. After retrieving my testicles from the ceiling I corrected my approach and she bought it! So I gotta sell her old 300ex and figure out who I'm buying from and all that good stuff, but basically I'll have it in a couple weeks. Technically its her quad but since she's always wanting to ride my shee, I figure we can share both bikes. BTW, anybody have a picture of one with fullbores on it? She likes the red frame but hates the white plastic. I'm thinking that red would look sick with silver fullbores.

The stock lights are 35w. Not sure which H5 Xenon your talking about. The H5/H3/H6/etc. designation is the shape of the bulb base. So if you need a bulb that's an H5, you look for a H5 bulb in the color you want with the correct wattage. By the way...if any of you actually want true HID but don't wanna spend all the cash, this link might be a good option.

2 strokes require more maintenance but are easier to work on. It sounds like maybe a 2 stroke isn't the right bike for you. If you're all about the riding and want to take the bike to the dealership for minimal maintenance, than go get a 4 stroke. As far as losing money on the deal goes, sorry man, nobody to blame but yourself. Common sense says that when an engine isn't running right, you shut it down and figure out what's wrong. Sounds to me like you kept going on it, and f'd it up even more.

Since you've got the single carb its definately not a carb issue. Focus on reeds, compression, airleaks, etc. of the non-firing cylinder.

I agree, Dumont can't handle the crowds on a busy weekend.

I would make an effort to avoid open water and really deep mud but you can deal with sand no problem. I really recomend getting a air filter skin though. Basically its like a thin sock that you spray with filter oil and pull over the filter. Not having an airbox means your filter is gonna get dirty quicker. With the skin, just pull it off and stick on another one.

I've been using strictly 125's for my sandstars. Never had a problem and I'm a jumping fool. Its all about leaving a sacrificial weak link in the system - I figure I'd rather bend a $30 wheel than an axle.

Looking for yellow plastics for the front grill and the gas tank cover. Good condition only (doesn't have to be perfect).
