  1. You could run those tires, but you'd be happier with something different. The sharks aren't a very tall blade so there's just not very much bite. Putting that on a shee that loves to spin wheels already means your going nowhere fast. Also, try to avoid 8" rims. Your handling will suffer tremendously - you don't see bus tires on a corvette. Personally, for general duning I like 20" Sand Stars on 10" .125 rims. The combo is light, cheap, and provides excellent duning! I run thin rims because I figure if I'm gonna bend something, I'd rather it be a $30 rim than a $250 axle. Most people agree that for all around duning a V-blade paddle is better, for straight lines (drags, hill climbs) your better off with a straight paddle. Either will work fine but V's tend to be a little easier to throw around.
  2. That whole fan thing is a joke. What kinda boost does your typical turbo put out? 10? 15psi? Those fans would be lucky to push 0.2 psi.
  3. I sold my second F3 to get the banshee - too many SUV's with cell phone users driving em out there! I kayak too. Used to do surf and whitewater in a perception whiplash (hey it was the shit at the time). Now me and my bro paddle a Current Designs Crosswind. That's 22ft of tandem! We're in training right now for a Catalina crossing - 28 miles one way from here to Cat. Not as exciting as the WW boat but hey, its fun in its own way. Any Kiteboarders in here?
  4. Here here, well spoken doink!
  5. Yup, Auron. Good obs
  6. I think the gains would be minimal due to the 2stroke design (no valves to keep the pressure in). I know of people doing this in the 2stroke R/C world and pretty much the outcome was a slight increase in power and a HUGE decrease in reliability. You'd have to jet really fat so that you wouldn't run lean when you got up to speed. Apparently it makes the engine a bear to start and keep running.
  7. I've got an 18 fin that I got off ebay for $15 or something. I'd stay away from the brand name coolers that are $35 for only 8 fins, they just don't have much surface area and I question how much cooling they'll provide. I'd agree with the 5-10 degree temp decrease using my single cooler. I've got a temp gauge and if I hammer the hell out of my shee on a hot day I can get it up to 190. Prior to having the cooler I'd hit 200 a few times. I always shut her down at that point so not sure if it would have gone any higher.
  8. 51 is my best too. I can hit it pretty easy. Anyone get lower?
  9. Sand stars are nice too. They're dual ribbed for her pleasure.
  10. buttboys.com?
  11. Oooooooo....stupider isn't a word!
  12. Why would you want to go back to stock??
  13. I can go about 20 miles (as the crow flies) while riding dunes fairly hard. Dunes eat up the gas plus you don't go in a straight line. I'd imagine that's probably 25-30 miles.
  14. Wow apparently this guy has found the fountain of youth! Actually if you spent some time around the HQ, you'd probably realize that the average age of its members is probably mid to late 20's. In 15 years, think of where you'll be. Receeding hairline, a little slower than you used to be, getting hurt means you miss work and can't pay the bills. Unfortunately, that's just what happens when you get older. Luckily, there's a benefit to being older, mainly experience. I'm 26 and I've never taken my shee into a dealership for maintenance. I started working on bikes when I was 14 and just learned by trial and error. Would you take your raptor to a 14 year old kid who knew nothing about an engine and ask him to rebuild it? Of course not. Not if there's a middle-aged, balding guy right down the street that has been rebuilding engines for the past 25 years. Be careful about slamming people that you may need to bail you out sometime.
  15. Just ban the butt-goblin already. What, three posts and not one bit of it worth reading?
  16. I bought some RIS billet ones from alba for $44.
  17. Best advice I can offer is to just stay ahead of the class. Instead of reading a chapter by a certain date, finish it the week before so you can ask questions ahead of time. By doing this you'll find that not only will your study habits improve, but you'll be able to snag some time to do something fun.
  18. rockin' and knockin' are mispelled.
  19. I switched over to mac thanksgiving before last and I'll never go back. Ok I did keep my POS PC networked to the mac for running a few of my programs that will never be made for the mac. But damn, once you use a mac for a few weeks, you'll never want to mess with PC garbage again (it takes about that long to unlearn all the tricks you had to use to keep your PC running). Everything just works on the mac, period. I've got the G4 iMac right now but will probably upgrade to a G5 or G6 dual whenever I decide that this comp is getting old. It amazes me that PC's are the norm when there's a system readily available out there that will do twice the things that a PC will do, with 1000x less hassle. Anyone upgraded to Panther after using Jaguar? Whatcha think? Worth the money to upgrade? Brooke you don't have to like the HQ, you're alright in my book. Oh and as far as that video goes...that whole bit was true of earlier mac operating systems. On 10.2 at least, that whole cloverleaf/option thing (the mac version of ctrl/alt/delete) rarely, if ever gets used. I still have to look up which keys actually do it cuz in the entire time I've owned my mac, I've had to use it only 4 times. See how many hours you PC diehards can make it before you use ctrl/alt/del 4 times.
  20. I jump pretty big on 10" douglas blue labels running sand stars with no problems. I look at it this way: If I smack into something or land a big jump bad, do I wanna bend a rim or snap a hub or axle? For me, I'd rather replace a $30 wheel.
  21. Hey my wife suggested that if you do decide to loan him the money, go down to his rental office yourself to pay his rent. That way you at least know where your $800 went for sure.
  22. Chest protector can be used in any temp. Yes I've got the $90 nemeses armor from rockymountainatv. I've worn it when it was 90 degrees out in the shade and as long as I was moving I was fine. If I took a break though it was nice to be able to unzip at the minimum. Its made of padding inside a nylon mesh - kinda like a coolmax type of fabric so it does a pretty decent job of staying ventilated.
  23. Hey not all of em are. My wife is working the ICU right now and is super sweet to all the vegetables.
  24. I've had mine in for over a month now and put at least 100 miles on it. No problems whatsoever. Some folks have had problems with the flywheel coming loose and shearing the pin, but this was probably due more to installation error that the key. As long as you torque down the flywheel to specs, you shouldn't have a problem.
  25. Tell the twerp that you need some collateral in exchange for the loan. He's gotta hand over something of his that's worth the $800 and give him a time limit, say 3 months to pay you back or your gonna sell his shit and get your money. I dunno how bad that blaster is, but if you think you could sell it for $800 then take that. No way would I hand over that money to somebody that's already proven that they're irresponcible. I'd say that you should explain this to the wifey and you could probably get her approval. If the Blaster isn't worth $800, then he has to come up with something that is. Tell him no matter what he gives you that you're gonna sell it after 3 months for exactly $800 even if its worth more. If you give him that money, your just gonna resent your wife and you'll never get over it. Be political and find a compromise.
