The motor is all stock besides being .40 over, k&n air filter, and MAYBE boyesen reeds. I said maybe because I dunno, it has boyesen reed stickers on it but I cant tell if there actualy on it. Do I need to change the jets or whatever when it gets cold? when I have the TORS thing working right (long story, see other posts) it runs perfect, a little puff of blew when I get on the gas but from then on its real faint, almost un-noticable. Also, where are the jets actualy? anybody got a pic of a carb or something and can tell me where they are located? ive never changed a jet before, beleive it or not

Joy I put that white teflon(SP?) tape all around the top of the carb and rammed the TORS thing on it Its realy tight now, but I cant test it because its raining and I cant pull it outside. Who knows, maybe it will run fine maybe it wont I took out both plugs, the left was oil covered as expected (but it was still firing) so I used a lighter and burned all the gas/oil off both plugs then used a wire brush on them. I held my thumb over both cylinders and kicked it over just to make sure no leaks anywere and all that, its fine. The plugs are 2 days old so they should still be alright. I dunno if the guy who put them in gapped them or not..I imagine he did but Iam not sure. He said it had been sitting for about 4 months without being ridden very much, would that have anything to do with my problems I wonder? Hmm I dunno, anyway thanks for all the help you people have given me so far!

Hmm tomorrow ill have to try the tape idea. I already put it on the splines on the shift shaft because the shifter teeth are worn out and if I shift down hard the shifter just keeps going Even if I hold it (TORS) down as hard as I can with my hand and let it idle the left cylinder still acts weird, it smokes real bad and it sounds like its not firing all the time Like it skips every other time or something. So I dont wanna run it unless iam trying to fix it because ive heard that stuff like that can bend the crank...that would be a bad thing. Hmm hope I get paid this week, I have a list of stuff to get already: TORS Remove kit New front tires New front wheel bearings New shift lever ^^^^the essentials. After I save up some money after getting all that stuff I wanna take it to the shop and have the wiring fixed. Like make it so ON is actualy ON and not OFF and make it so I can turn off the lights. And make it so the tether switch works...'cuz I might be needin that

Thansk guys I got to ride for half the day, then had a problem with the good ole' TORS (see my other post hehe) but when I did ride it was SAAAAWWWEEETTT! I cant getover how much power its got for a quad, even with the giant mud tires on it, it will spin in every gear on the gravel roads around here. Much to the delight of my grand dad who was riding behind me Later! -
Yeah thats what I intend on doing. Problem is I just spent every last dollar I had yesterday Any idea how to get it to stay on there untill i can get a removal kit? also how much do they cost and where do I get them like what site? Thanks for a fast response by the way!

TORS on left carb keeps coming off! The threads on the plastic thing are stripped or something but in any case it keeps popping off. If I hold it down with my hand the motor runs fine except the left cylinger seems to be missing every now and then, causing it to smoke ALOT. I dunno what to do because unless that thing is on there good and tight like is suppose to be, the throttle gets stuck wide open and theres nothing i can do besides reach down and hold it on there. Any ideas? So it begins....

I made this user name on a gaming site a while back and have used it ever since, regardless of what for. It stands for the Raptors in the Jurassic Park movies, not the quad, not the basketball team Hey thanks for all the info, ill check on those 'commectors' also thanks for lettin' me know what that Blue Ice stuff is. Iam only 16 myself killershee. I feel your pain about working like a pig...but hey its worth it right? Ive been riding quads for like 2 years, but have been into dirtbikes/minibikes since I was 7. Tomorrow should be interesting...maybe ill be able to get it higher than 2nd gear (was dark out so I didnt wanna go to fast tonight when I got it home hehe) I was out 'tinkerin' with it (the shee) a little bit ago and noticed it has alot more stuff on it than the guy said. Its got a boost bottle, rear brake caliper guard, I THINK some sort of aftermarket skid plates (I dunno what stock ones look like), pro taper handlebars, a greese zerk on the bearing carrier, and a tether kill switch(if it works or not I dunno yet). Theres a boyesen(SP?) power reed sticker on it also, I dunno if it actualy has them or not though. I think thats it. Later Aaron/CoolRaptor2001 P.S.-Thanks for such a warm 'welcome' -
Its good someone finaly did that, maybe some of these numerous scams will disappear Its a shame the scams are scams though, just think....a 2004 Raptor/Banshee for like $1500 shipped

Good one fixitrod LoL! After I build up my money supply again for repairs or whatever Ill start buying stuff for it. I think iam gonna leave the motor stock for now though The closest thing to driving a banshee I had rode before this, was my cousins Trinity 285 drag-blaster. What a difference I picked up 2 extra plugs and 2 things oil on the way home so I should be all set for now. The guy I got it from said he put Blue Ice or something in it, how often does that need to be changed? Do stealerships have it? I didnt have time to look, they were closing as I ran in to get the oil and plugs. I havent had it out of 2nd gear yet because theres no room and because I cant reach the shifter (its loose so its like hanging down), but hopefully tomorrow ill be able to ride some. Well gotta get going, talk to ya all later! -
After saving my money for about 2 years and looking around on the internet, I finaly found a banshee. It was in my local bulletin board. We called this morning, looked at it this evening, and brought it home tonight... finaly Its a 1997 and stock besides being bored .40 over, AC grab bar and bumper (i think the bumper is AC), 2001 (i think) blue plastics with ceet graphics kit and seat cover, mud machine rear tires, and the almighty angry eye headlight covers. Also had all bushings replaced If I remember right. Only known problems are the key is wired backwards, on is off and off is on, and the headlights are always on. Will work on that eventualy. For being stock its ALOT quicker than I thought it would be I only got to ride it up and down the street where the guy lives and around my yard a few times because its dark out. Still had a blast though. The guy and his wife I got it from were real cool, they gave me a helmet and a set of goggles and he showed me how to do all the stuff and work on certain things. As of tonight, I no longer feel lik a poser hangin' around on here Later!

An RM250 is a suzuki 2 stroke motocross dirtbike. The reason why we need 500cc to keep up is because the power to weight ratio. We would need roughly that(500cc) to get the same power to weight ratio of the bike I would imagine. Basicaly, the bike is probably 10x faster than any stock quad, depending on the surface of where your riding etc etc.

I was looking at the Atv Racing j-arm conversion thing on their site a while ago and was wondering if any of you have them and how you like them? Can they hold up to like motocross type racing and all that? I, like most people, have a fear of the j-arms because of the horror stories ive heard and havent even considered trying to buy an older shee because of it. I dont make alot of money real quick so Iam thinking I might have to start looking at j-arm shees, since they usualy are a little bit cheaper than a-armed shees and eventualy converting them to a-arms if that works pretty good. How much do you all think a j-arm banshee with a blown motor would cost? I dont mind working on stuff so rebuilding one would be kinda cool to me actualy. My cousin got a 87 with hot rod crank, wiseco pistons, fmf pipes/silencors, all that good stuff for $1200...unfortunetly for him it either siezed or something broke or something I cant remember because the guy who did the motor work didnt do it right Iam just asking questions right now I doubt I could buy anything, since I only got like 17-1800 saved up Sorry for all these stupid posts iam just trying to find out some stuff, can never be too carefull ya' know? Oh by the way, click my Outwar link! Haha just kidding
-
I got somewere around $1700-1900 saved up as of now, I know its nowere near enough for anything but iam just curiours as to how much they (banshee's) are running for now days. How much do you think a stock A-arm Framed banshee in running condition (not junk but definitly not perfect) would go for? All thats in my bulletin board and cycle trader is $1000 junkers with bent frames, fried motors, etc or $4000 modded or almost new shees. I wouldnt mind getting one that needed rebuilt and all, just as long as it wasent torn up real bad and is a a-arm frame because I eventualy wanna do motocross type stuff and will buy wide a-arms, axles, all that good stuff. Iam in south eastern ohio if that has anything to do with price differences or not I dunno Forgive me if my questions seem kinda stupid Thanks in advance for any/all input!
-
Hmm, ok thanks again guys I was planning on making it as cheap as possible aside from the + a-arms and all because even after I pay my bike off ill only be making like 80 something a week (dont have a real job, cant drive, and live in the middle of nowere) The Elkas that BLue has are sweet but way to pricy for me Oh well, right now i gotta focus on gettin a shee before i can buy stuff for it
-
All iam gonna do to the motor is probably get the Trinity pipes since they are all-around pipes, then iam gonna get most of the usual suspension parts, I wanna run the Works shocks (the cheap ones) with or without rezzies not sure yet, depends on my wallet lol. Then eventualy ill get more motor parts from trinity because I personally think there motors are pretty quick but some people think otherwise. All i gotta do now is save up for the pay off on my dirtbike, interest rate on this thing is nasty! bike cost 3500 at stealership but were paying 4900 because of interest
-
Sweet, ya iam gonna need ALOT of practice. Cant wait
-
ive heard alot about shortening the swingarm, does it realy help out that much? I would think it would wheelie constantly like my cousins 285 blaster does. If someone were to shorten the swinging should they get +1 forward a-arms or keep stock and just get wider? In the far far far future I want to get either the cheap 420 big bore or the expensive 421PV, would the -2 swingarm be bad then? Anyone know of some money trees I can go to and get some extra cash to pay off my bike? Thanks for replying by the way

Ive many a 2 strokes in my life and I would prefer the banshee to say a 400ex anyday (not for handling but more the motor). Iam gonna try to go for the banshee route if i can afford it. The local track here is a good track for a banshee also, it has a giant straightaway in it where the 2strokes pull away easly. Iam just wondering if the stock motor piped motor would be able to keep up with the modded 4strokes. Because I would rather dump my money into suspension first rather than the motor because the motor isent all that slow.
-
Hey, iam currently working on paying my dirtbike off so I can get a banshee and got a few quesitons for everyone Iam going to try to get a stock shee and was wondering if a just a stock or maybe a piped motor, but with a good suspension (I.E. a-arms, axles, shocks, etc) would be competitive in motocross stuff? Most of the people here race 400ex's but i havent been to the track since the new predator and yfz came out.
