I havent had the shee that long and ive never realy worked on one untill now so iam a bit skeptical of my ability to remember where everything goes once its time to put it back together 'course having 900kinds of nuts and bolts holding it together dosent help. I dunno, like i said iam still checkin around. Thanks for everyones helpfull replies, ill keep you informed on whats goin' on.

Counterbalancer is something (not sure what lol) that the crank turns and it is suppose to minimize vibration. Especialy on a 2 stroke. The banshee dosent need one because it has 2 cylinders so the opposite cylinder acts as a balancer. Dirtbikes dont need them because of the 2 large front forks and rear shock they have. I guess it soaks up any vibration that is there. Something to do with bikes only having 2 contact points with the ground while a quad has 4. I dont know so ill let someone smart reply now....

Thats sounding more appealing all the time

The stealership wants $700, but the place that iam checking into wants $3-500 for topend and tors kit installed. They said it would be a little over $1100 if the crank was bad. Since its gonna be torn apart anyway, i want to have the crank checked and/or welded because i cant afford for it to seperate. I barely have enough $$ for topend thats why iam trying to make sure everything is done right the first time, cant afford mistakes. Limited03--You did the work yourself right? PLaynSand--i want to have the crank checked regardless, not just a topend rebuild, since its a 97 and I dunno if its original I wish i could get it ported but i would be happy just having it run like its suppose to at this point. Im calling the place again to ask if they would weld the crank if i insisted on it, we shall see what they have to say...

They dont have the eqipment to weld cranks I tihnk they said. Figures

Thanks for the offer boonman I would take ya up on it except i might have some trouble with the beer, unless i can find a place who sells it to 16 year olds. Iam gonna check into all this alot more than I have. Ive been screwed by the stealerships sooo many times. I would like to do it myself, so iam gonna look it all over in the manual before I see if iam go tearing into it. My main problem with working on my shee...I bought it used and theres like 900 diff. nuts bolts and screws on it. None matching of course. Iam not even gonna mention how many stripped/broke off/bent things that are on it lol. Thanks for all your helpfull replies, dunno what i would do without you this place. ^^^^My thoughts exactly Again thanks everyone P.S.-I live about 30 minutes outside of Marietta, out past Lower Salem.

Thats what I was thinking. They quoted me roughly $4-600 for topend including everything and installing a tors elimination kit i got and about $1100 if the crank was no good. How does that sound price-wise? My stealership wanted $700 for just topend rebuild Ill have to do some more checking on everything before I have it rebuilt. I dont have anyway to transport it now so ill use this time to do research i guess. Theres only 1 other atv place within 2 hours drive distance from here so iam kinda limited on where i can take it(mainly because I dont have a driver liscense). Thanks for your input guys, its much appreciated

I asked the bike/atv shop about having the crank welded when they rebuild the topend on my shee and they said they have never welded a banshee crank because they feel its not needed. They said if the crank thats in it isent within certian tolerances they will just buy a new wiseco crank and put in there. They said they ''stand behind the motors they build'' so if something goes wrong I know who to go after They build and rebuild alot of banshees and everyone I know says they do good work but I would like to get everyones opinions on here(BHQ) about them not wanting to weld the crank....especialy since they want no less than 150psi compression when its done. Thanks in advance for any/all replies

I cant stand annoying kids and there parents who let them ride whenever and however they want. For example, in the past few years ATVs and dirtbikes have become popular in my neighborhood(which is way out in the middle of nowere). So, of course, you have 10-11-12 year olds riding around WOT on every kind of atv/dirtbike/gokart up and down the paved road, in fields used for planting, and thru the coal mines. Dont get me wrong, most people here do ride in the coal mines but we ride in the old inactive spots. These kids are riding amongst the big machinery, illegaly, and by themselves alot of the time. And the parents simply DONT CARE! Today i saw one of the kids and his dad riding double on the other side of the gate leading to the active mine area, i was just about to ride over to them and ''explain'' how much they should not be riding there. I found out recently my neighbor who is 12 or 13 now, him and his brother (who is like 9 and weighs maybe 70 pounds) are both getting new trailblazers. The older one scares me to death. The few times he went riding with me he would go around blind turns WOT on his timberwolf like it was notihng. As for the younger one, i dont think he has ever driven a ATV. If i know there parents right, i wouldnt be a bit supprised if they set both of them loose without anyone watching over them to ride wherever they want. Its people who dont use common sense like this who give us, the legit riders, a bad name and get our riding areas taken away......but you probably already knew that Sorry for the book, just needed to vent

Sweet, thanks Boonman Ive been meaning to join t he ATVA for a while now, keep forgetting to though. Guess ill have to remember now huh?

Did any of you hear about that woman who was trying to sue MTV,CBS, etc for MILLIONS of dollars for "damages'' because of her and her kids seeing jacksons breast for a whole 1.5 seconds ? People are stupid now days, it all started with the McDonalds coffee incident...who remembers that? Hmmm, somebody should get on CNN/Fox/whatever and explain all that. We need some GOOD news about ATVs on TV for once.
-
No they just said 'kids'.
-
I was just watching CNN and when they had the usuall stock market part of it they brought up all the ATV death statistics(what it has to do with stock market I dunno). They showed a video of people riding around on 3wheelers, and kept saying how they could reach speeds of 70mph and how so many kids are getting killed on them. They also kept mentioning how last year more people were killed on ATVs then jetskis or snowmobiles. Of course Ozzy Osbourne was brought up, basicaly they were blaming the ATV he was riding for it and made no mention of his 42 pain pills he was on. My personal favorite though, they said how kids are like 50 percent more likely to die from a ATV crash then a bicycle crash (NAW YA THINK!?). They failed to mention how much ATV sales have went up in the past years...maybe that has something to do with more people getting hurt on them hmm? We need someone from ATVA or something to get on TV and explain to people that ATVs arent death traps like alot of people think.

Having The Crank Welded..
CoolRaptor2001 replied to CoolRaptor2001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thats scary^^^ Ok thanks for the replies, Ill call and ask if the shop can weld it while is apart. Best to do it right the first time I guess -
Iam going to have the topend rebuilt and have it bored here shortly, and the shop said they would check the crank while they had it all apart to make sure its within certain tolerances and all that. My question is, should I have it welded if the shop is able to do so? The only motor mods I got planned for the near future are pipes. And also, how much (roughly) does it cost to have the crank welded? I barely got enough money for a topend rebuild so I dont want the crank splitting shortly after getting it running again and causing more damage Someone (cant remember who) on here was telling me how there crank was begining to split with just pipes and reeds so thats why iam asking this. Thanks in advance

If iam not mistaken, its illegal to ride any OHV on any public roads (unless no lines are present) in WV. All ATVs are un-stable on hard surfaces such as roads. Not only because of the solid axle, but because of the rather small size they are and the speed they can reach. If you want to ride something on the road, get a street bike. Thats what they are for. Please dont ride around on public roads on a OHV illegaly and give them more of a bad name by either getting in an accident or just being annoying. Anti-ATV as well as Anti-dirtbike groups thrive on this stuff. P.S.-Welcome to BHQ

Hopw Do U Get Ur Tank Out
CoolRaptor2001 replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I put a giant screw driver down in front of the tank and between the frame and just pushed back on it gently and it poped right out. Wouldnt come out any other way though. My frame is bent a little too I imagine, because it pulls to the right ever so slightly and the tank is next to impossible to get out without a screwdriver Is any banshee frame not bent? -
i bought a Motion-Pro TORS eliminaiton kit from them, only problem I had is they sent me 5 identical carb tops lol. I dunno if that is there doing or motion-pro.

Iam now 16 but have wanted a shee since i was like 14. Ive saved up my money and..and...WORKED for it untill just recently i was able to buy a used mostly stock 97 shee. I put maybe 5 hours on it before discovering it needs a top end rebuild. Am I mad because I spent every last dime I had and now barely have enough to get it running just so i can ride it? NO! Iam glad to even have it. Dont get me wrong, parents buying there kids things is cool, my parents did it, most do. But there is a cut-off point to where it gets rediculous, such as this. You deserve to have your shee taken away, you obviously dont even respect what is given to you or else you wouldnt do stupid crap like this.

Ive used the flatline on other peoples guns just trying them out, sometimes i liked it sometimes i didnt. I played against some marine guy with a A-5 and flatline, he was deadly. He could hit any of us even if we were runnin top speed

Tippman Pro-Lite (simular to the pro carbine only its the original), 14inch sniper barrel is all extra i got on it. I got a remote res hose too but hardly use it. Bought it used from my uncle YEARS ago and he also had it YEARS before that lol he bought it when it first came out thats how old it is.

I dont have the room to take it all apart right now or I would have tried. I realy would like to do it myself, trust me. Ive been buggin my mom to let me put it on the porch and work on it there but she dont like that idea I might try to do it with the room I got I dont know. Iam gonna have to take it somewere and make sure its jetted right because iam retarded when it comes to that. Someone tells me "go up 250 here and needle clip this and blah blah" iam just like lol.
-
I was wondering about taking the whole down tube off? Just curious though, if it makes it loud then I wont. Cant do anytihng right now anyways, need a rebuild

the yfz450 is yamahas new race-ready quad. It has a motor simular to the one in the WR450 dirtbike. Look on there website Yamaha Motor website and read up on them. EDIT: Dont you hate it when people edit the questions and your previous answers look like they make no sense?
