  1. Well, that's not totally true. People buy the quad to better suit their riding styles...I'll run you through the woods and around the track on my mostly stock yfz450; you ride your banshee....see who gets left behind. There's no shame in buying a yfz450, and you're not a "pussy" if you ride a 4 stroke You're talking to a guy that's concerned about gas milage, there's no convincing him to mod it more...then he'd never have enough money for gas to ride it!!! I say go ahead and get a 4WD quad, it seems like that is what fits your style...I rode a grizzly once that was pretty nice for plowing through mud
  2. LMFAO, Stan you always know how to put things into perspective!!!
  3. Thanks man, but don't start that stuff about GRR's version of rockets, I think you got it backwards my friend!!! Andy's been makin suicide pipes WAY before rocket pipes were introduced to the market...I did my research, I know the real deal; let's not start this pissing match
  4. I agree! You can get a complete tranny (minus the cases) for a couple hundred dollars. First time we took apart my banshee we knew nothing about it other than basic two-stroke principles. Had it all apart, looked over all the parts to get familiar with them and checked them all for damage. Pulled out the clymers manual and put it together just like instructed and bam, had a running banshee in 2 days, teardown and rebuild from the bottom end up. If you have basic tools you can get most of the work done. You might have to buy a tool here and there but most of it is simple. You can't go wrong if you read and follow the clymers manual!
  5. A couple of good engine builders to call would be... Andy at Grand River Racing (Banner ad is at the top of the page) Jeff at FAST Racing (screen name is FASTOYS) I got my cylinders ported by Andy @ GRR, VERY happy with the quality of his work, his drag port rips! I noticed you said you wanted drag pipes with silencers, you could always check into Andy's new inframe drag pipe Jeff at FAST is simply a great guy to deal with...He can do portwork also, AND can get you setup with a cub if you want it. He's always around when you need him and more than willing to give you advice if you need it!
  6. Rocket pipes = Great Ordering from Fireman-hot = Bad Who knows, maybe things might change for the good...hope so for you, take some pics when you get them!
  7. Welcome to the HQ!!!! I love how you have "search is my friend" in your signature, you should have searched a little about rocket pipes before buying them!!! NYUK, you are too f**kin funny man...you need a stand up comedy show
  8. No offense but that is not trails, that's a wide open bed of gravel. I don't think you ride the trails loco's talking about Not trying to be an ass....seriously
  9. LMAO I wish I had the helmet cam on to show you guys how rough it is in the dirt with that rigid suspension though....on the gas it was fine but when you let off the gas to slow down I felt like I was strapped to a basketball, damn thing bounced like crazy Need me some marvins Sorry to get off topic guys!
  10. Yeah, if you're not dragging ALL the time, don't waste your money. The override tranny is for helping your shifts, so you can keep the gas pinned and just shift, without using the clutch. I'm getting one for mine as soon as I can afford it, but I only drag race my bike, it's not trail friendly anymore.
  11. Where could I pick one up at?
  12. It's funny you mentioned this, I put my braided line on for the rear brakes and we went through at least 5 ressys full of brake fluid and still aren't getting any pressure. We took the master cylinder apart and checked it, looked OK but figured it must not be working well enough. Does it just take a lot more fluid / pumping since it's an extened line? (+8)
  13. Good point!!
  14. That's what I did too, except mine are 12" wide and 6 ft long per ramp. Get the treated wood too, they'll last longer if you're like me and leave the ramps in the back of the truck all the time You pansy....LOL j/p
  15. That's just fucked up, which is why I haven't bothered to help them or give a rats ass what condition they're in; for all I care they can stay there and rot in their own feces. I hate those pricks who think they're owed something because they were in a disaster...f**k that, they knew the consequences of living in a swamp below sea level, and it's their own fault for not getting their lazy asses up and leaving before the hurricane. With attitudes like what was described in the email, no wonder people didn't want to help them get out before it was too late....I would have left their greedy asses there too
  16. I saw that email you were talking about...if it's still in my inbox I'll post the pics
  17. I would have to agree
  18. Exactly. Do not run the stock head gasket, it is not needed. You would probably encounter problems if you did install the head gasket along with the o-rings in the head.
  19. LOL, I would love to tell you but my monitor at work is really dark and I can barely see your pic...so I can't tell you until I get home Sorry! I'm sure someone else (who can see) will chime in here
  20. If you are ported then you should really consider getting bigger carbs. That could be a large part of your problem, I'm kind of surprised to hear your builder suggest you still run those stockers I would recommend you get a better performing reed system though, some v-force 3's would make a nice difference over stockers I don't thing your pipes or reeds are causing the problem though, it seems more like a carburation problem.
  21. I can't tell you for sure about the stator, it doesn't sound right though... The flywheel will work fine with a few nicks in it, mine has quite a few on the inside of it. As long as it "functions" properly and is still magnetic, the cosmetic appearance is irrelevant.
  22. So...what are you wanting to know? It sounds like you've identified your problem....
