  1. all i have to say is i hope you don't leave the sport all together. simmer down a little on a slower ride if you're comfortable with that, and get out and enjoy the great outdoors with your family. maybe someday the shee will be enticing again, but you will have a different attitude about it. i love riding my shee, but safety and my family are always on my mind. sometimes it takes something trajic to happen to provide for better and safer experiences in the future, for yourself and those you ride with. i'm a firm believer in the blessing in disguise, and that everything happens for a reason. whatever you decide, good luck, and good health to you.
  2. patience my friend. i made the mistake of selling a bike b4 to pay off a debt, and regret it to this day. hold out, you'll really appreciate it when you have a bike and a quad to ride. my buddies and neighbors think i'm loaded or something. i have a cbr600, my wife's 250 ninja, my 'shee, my firebird, my blazer, my wifes z24, and just built a new house a few years ago, and have a 2 yr old girl. the thing is, i started with my firebird about 12 years ago. paid one thing off, and moved on to the next, and continued that way. it's taken me 12 years to get what i have now, but everyone sees it all at once and thinks i've had a lot of $$ to throw around. it's not all new but all in great condition. take care of what you have and make it last. then you can gradually get everything you want without giving something else up. good luck.
  3. i'll second that. or third it, or fourth it, whatever. anyway, go with the pro flow. k & n for sand, foam for anything else. and remove the lid if you're not into really deep water much, and ditch the catch at the bottom of the air box so any water that gets in can flow right back out. major difference in power. will require jetting accordingly, and frequent cleaning, but well worth it. it will make your pc's come alive!!
  4. if i remember correctly, i gently tapped a very small screwdriver behind it and popped them out. i don't recall them being that difficult. not saying you are at fault in any way, just that it wasn't too bad on mine. my 1st time removing the axle to replace bearings was a BITCH though. i remember that one vividly.
  5. a shee on atv television!! wow, doug must have fell asleep on one of his rides and fell off and bumped his head. fisher's is more likely. either way, i hope someone soon gets into putting sport quads on the air. the utility market is huge, but sport quads can't be far behind, if at all. they may be surprised at the # of viewers they'll get. i'll be one of them, that's for sure. as long as they keep it "sporty" and have more action. by the way hotrodbanshee, congrats on the appearance. i'll look for ya if they have it on again.
  6. i know everyone has their own preference, but i've never had anything but success with my ruger's. .44 mag super redhawk, .357 mag gp100, and p93dc 9mm. and as far as over 40 yards being out of range, i've capped a ground hog at 80 yards with my 9mm, and deer easily out to 60 yards with the others. it's like anything else. practice, practice, practice, and know your weapon. as far as the shee goes, it's locked in the garage, blocked by my car, and an excellently trained german shepherd outside the door. if they get past my dog, over the car, by the dog again, and out and away before my wife or i drop them, i guess my shee is worth more than i had ever imagined. hell, in that case, maybe i'd better buy a 45mm!! sorry, but i feel that if you don't know anymore about the guns you have than that, you shouldn't have it in the 1st place. your more of a threat to yourself and those closest to you than you are any help. no wonder handguns get a bad rap. irresponsible people, not irresponsible guns.
  7. that's exactly it. remove the metal band. i had the same problem. if you don't want to chisel at it and risk screwing anything up, pull the swing arm bolt and drop the swing arm enough to remove it. it's really not that difficult, and you don't risk damaging the swing arm or dust cover.
  8. i'm not gonna say use this or that, or yours is bad either. but i've been using bel-ray gear saver since my 1st oil change almost 3 years ago. haven't had any trouble yet. but frequent oil changes, with any oil, is the ticket. oils a lot cheaper than tranny rebuilds.
  9. i used never dull cleaner and polish, and fine steel wool. it took off the "mirror" finish, but they still look 10 times better after cleaning. they had splotchy minor heat marks on them that wouldn't come off otherwise.
  10. that's some nasty shit. better check up on health risks before handling, and use the appropriate ppe's. sorry, but i have to enforce such things at my work. and kids are getting cranked on it? wow, if they only knew what their future holds.
  11. ever hear the camel toe song? that was my 1st thoughts. they play it a lot on WDVE 102.5, from pittsburgh. now i'll picture her every time i hear it.
  12. dirt, trails, woods, grass, fields, xc, snow, ... that's bedford county pa alright. no sand in sight. major farming area, and i wouldn't want it any other way. can't stand city areas, and that sand just gets in all the wrong places. hillclimbing and mud is just a way of life here. the rest of it just makes it fun getting there.
  13. i've seen all of these shee's with the polished and decorative grills on them, but can't see spending the $$ on them. so i took the stock one off, and painted it with chrome bumper paint. not quite the polished alum. look, but stands out more than the black stock one against the blue plastics and adds some color to the front end. where i ride, all the chrome and polished extra's are a waste of $$. they'd just get trashed, unless i spent more time cleaning than riding.
  14. i've been wanting to do mine too. once some of the grill gets broken, it looks like shit. i'd rather just cut them off, since they can't really do much good for protection anyway. i think they only there for the baja look. i'm debating about getting some cascade "eyes" covers for it though. won't be able to keep them clean for long though, so i think they'll just be for show and clean day riding. but i'll still probably get out the dremel and trim off the grill.
  15. i'm just the opposite. i wasn't going to buy a used banshee even if it was cheaper. i wanted a new one so i didn't end up dealing with someone elses shotty work. shee's are one of the most modified and accesorized quad's out there, no doubt due to the endless possibilities. and i've seen too many that's been messed with by someone who doesn't have a clue what they are doing. that's where the rumor of shees being so troublesome and high maintenance comes from. at least going with a new one, i know what i'm getting without a doubt, and can mod it up the way i want it to be, and i know it's done right. if i had the extra $$ and wanted a project quad, then i'd find a used and abused shee to tinker with. otherwise, i know exactly what i have and what it's been thru from day 1.
  16. 83 suzuki sp100 street and trail, stripped for trail -age 12 street: 89 kaw ex 500. 1st street bike. traded for 92 cbr 600 - bought in 95- still mint condition
  17. i do mostly trail riding, and was kickin around double rates w/res's, or triple rates w/o. like spoin39 said, the res's are mainly for preventing fade under extreme conditions like mx racing. i went with the triples and they seem to work great.
  18. i've seen this link thru another atv site, but didn't want to post this response there. - Dean is an anti gunner, and anti atv'er. has anyone ever been a victim of an atv driveby? if not, i think he could be the first. lol. no, no, no, that would just add more fuel to their fire. bastards.
  19. no votes for dean here.
  20. i love my ps bandits. they are awsome in mud, trails, hill climbing, even if they are wet, and even in the pines. we have a few hill climbs in pine tree areas that get pretty slick sometimes. but they work great and wear very well. good for rocky trails with their tough sidewalls. great anywhere EXCEPT in wet grass in the yard. that's the only place they don't hook up real well, which is no big deal. otherwise, they've put my front end in the air in the worst conditions. i'm looking to get a set of ps's on the front in the spring.
  21. my 1st tip would be to mod yourself to riding a banshee in the woods. everyone sais the shee is not a woods machine, but if you adjust yourself to it as a rider 1st, then you will really notice the other mods come alive. i like my pc pipes, and pure sports bandits in the woods. the bandits work great no matter what you get into and clean out excellent, and wear very well too. i like stock gearing cuz gearing down makes 1st gear all but useless. but get your riding style down in the woods on the shee, then determine where your weak and strong points are, and go from there. and get some good brakes. extremely important if your goin rippin around the trees. honestly, ebc seems to work best for me.
  22. holeshotkid, that is hillarious!!! it's especially funny cuz my wife said she's heard me making the dingadinggding noises in my sleep. i guess if i'm not riding my shee, i'm dreaming about it. i'm glad she hasn't taped me.
  23. that was pretty wicked. i hate, hate, hate, hate HATE anything done in voices like that. that's pretty harsh to use the Lord's prayer that way too, and then to scare the shit out of you like that!! i saw one similar to that before, but wasn't expecting it this time. man i had to look around the room, i felt like i wasn't alone anymore. wicked fellows. simply wicked.
  24. it kind of depends on what kind of oil you use too. i still use yamalube, 32:1 without any problems.
