i've dumped my gas a few times before cuz i wasn't sure if it was mixed or not. i'd rather lose a few gal. of gas than my motor. after that, before the gas is mixed, i turn around the spout on the can backwards. after mixing, i turn it forward so it can be poured out. no doubt anymore whether it's mixed or not.

i agree. you can't depend on the shee to get you to work and school and so on. your own vehicle is a necessity, let the toys come later. patience my young friend.

i paid a lot more than that for my pc's, then found them cheaper somewhere else later! yeah, that sounds like a good deal. the "which pipe" battle is neverending though. some pipes are more directed at top end, bottom end, or mid range. but i am definitely happy with my pc's in all aspects. far better than stock. haven't tried anything else though. but, my pc's haven't given me a reason to either.

just a thought that hasn't been brought up yet, and something to consider before diving into a lot of $$ and work. have you had the carbs off for any reason lately? a very popular mistake is to get the carb bowls mixed up. the left carb bowl has the "starter jet" in it, and must stay on the left carb or you can kick her till your foot turns blue, and shee won't start. but it will start if pulled. if you haven't had them off, and it started fine b4, then it's something else. but just for future reference, if you look in the "tube" molded on the inside of the bowl, you'll see a small jet at the bottom leading to an opening into the bowl. the rt side bowl doesn't have the jet or the opening in it. hope you get it fixed up.

i use the did atv x ring and haven't had any problems. one thing i always wondered about though. if o-rings and x-rings are so good at retaining lube and keeping dirt out, how well does chain lube get in there when you lube your chain? i still always use chain lube to keep the rollers and plates and whatever greased up, but that one has always baffled me.

i'm not about to pay more for another brand just cause it smells better. yamalube has worked just fine for my shee for 3 yrs. now. besides, how often do you ride in circles just to catch a whiff of your exhaust?? and i usually don't ride up behind people and say to myself, "hmmm, their exhaust smells so good!" i doubt anyone does it to me either.

i rarely use any oil at all, but when i have it was pj1. haven't used it yet without the shee bogging and running like shit afterwards. i know, sounds like too much oil. but it sure didn't take much to do it the last time, so i said the hell with it. my filters are kept clean, and my intake boots are almost always dirt free. i usually don't get into a lot of dust, and never any sand. just mud and water, which the pro flow filters seem to do just fine with.

i agree with led on this one. anything will be better than stock. you won't be dissappointed at all with the pc's. i like mine a lot, but haven't run anything else either. i do like the sound a lot better than toomey's, dg, fmf, haven't heard dmc's. i run trails and a lot of open farming areas, and can't complain about my pc's.

i ordered the poly one's from UPP the other day, and they should be here in a few days. $20 for the set of 4. kind of expensive but from what i've seen at work, the poly shit should last forever. and they will be getting glued in just in case. thanks guys.

clean both of the filters frequently, especially after a day of really dusty or muddy/wet riding. any change to air flow will require rejetting. unless you get into water over the airbox, ditch the lid all together and rejet accordingly. the pro flow should work great, but you WILL have to clean the filters more frequently, but it's well worth it.

My Shee Will No Longer Be Referred To As A Banshee
MILO replied to sredish's topic in General Banshee Discussion
ok, here's my take on this. granted the shee is the yfz350, but when you say "banshee" heads turn and people know what to expect, to be getting roosted by it as they beat the hell out of their ride to try to keep up. have you ever heard the blaster called the yfs200? nope, just the blaster. like the shee, it is what it is, and the name speaks for itself. my "banshee" demands respect just from its name and reputation , therefore, it will remain my "banshee". calling my banshee a yfz just doesn't seem right. should the yfz450 have a ferrocious name too? that doesn't bother me. neither does a yz, kx, rm, cr or anything else, for that matter. although i do think the warrior should have kept it's name, despite copy cat plastics. the raptor look has taken over all brands, which is sad. i like indivuality. and their is nothing like the shee. by the way, in my area, gnarly and stoked are only used by the remote groups of skater kids or drugees. all the skater, surfer, hip hop "languages" are pretty much frowned upon around here. yep, i guess we're just a bunch of old farmers and country hicks. but i wouldn't have it any other way. -
Whats The Diff Between Atf Type F And Fa?
MILO replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
can't help you there. but i've always used bel-ray 80wt. tranny oil without any problems. -
note steps 8-10. also from BenBB.

by the way, when i just had the snorkel off, i covered the opening to the lid with some fine window screen to keep out the big stuff. also trimmed out the tunnel on the underside of the lid to allow instant air flow to the entire filter. had 12 uni-filters in the lid too. still doesn't compare to losing the lid all together!
-
i can't say enough about my pro design adaptor with foam filter. no lid, riding in all conditions including muddy and wet poker runs in the rain. never had any problems yet. just keep those filters cleaned up. as long as your not in water over the airbox it should be fine, but remove the drain catch on the box just in case water does get in there, & it'll drain right out.

tap lightly cd. i usually use the handle end of a screwdriver. it usually does the trick without marring up the carb. if it doesn't work, like they said, tear it apart and put it together again. if you have the carb off, gently turn it upside down and you'll be able to hear the floats moving when you turn it back, so you know they're freed up, then throw it back on.

they are missing!! i never would have realized that was the problem. i haven't checked out the microfische for a long time, but yep, there they are. it seems to be yet another very common minor problem with the shee. gonna check around about getting new ones. thanks guys.
-
just wondering if this is common or not, and what to do about it? the front of my seat, against the tank, has a lot of play side to side. i'm getting sick of it floating around while i'm riding! there doesn't seem to be any way to tighten it up anywhere. the protrusion from the seat is under the frame like it should be, but has a lot of slop in it. is there something lost, missing, or is it just gonna be that way until i shim it up with my own rigging?

fabrication supervisor working with fiberglass reinforced polymer composites. my company builds all of our own pultrusion equipment, manufactures and fabs countless structural and custom profiles. the best job title i've heard yet : hydro-ceramic purification engineer/technician. in other words - a dishwasher at arby's. LOL!! one of my employees had that on a resume! he did have a degree in environmental engineering, & shortly moved on to something better related to his schooling.

that's right. i haven't used oil before, and it has been jetted without it. dust seems to be the worst culprit to get thru and we usually don't ride in really dusty conditions, so i haven't used any oil before. i assumed that it may be a little rich too with restricted air flow, and that was the problem and not something else with the carbs. but wasn't sure about the possibility of that. glad to hear a second opinion on that one. i'll check out the intake boots, and hopefully not have to pull the carbs again. thanks a lot ranshee.

i just finished cleaning my carb's, filters, intake boots, reed cages etc. and fired her up and took it for a ride. the only thing i did different than normal was use filter oil on my pro flow outer filter. shee seems to have a bog in the low end now. i removed the outer filter and it seemed to clear up some, but some oil's been sucked into the inner filter as well. did i go to heavy on the oil, and will it have my carbs gummed up to the point where i'll need to clean them again? hopefully i can just get away with cleaning the filters out again. what will work to effectively take out the oil? she runs fine otherwise, just the bog in the pilot range and low idling. i don't have time to just start tinkering with it today, and we're going out on a poker run 1st thing tomorrow morning. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

a small screwdriver, a light hammer, and a lot of patience!

uh oh, here come the rumors!! yamaha and polaris unite to create "the new banshee" see what suzuki and kawasaki started!! they should have given you the plugs for free after that.

all of the local yammy shops here have drag racing teams, and some run shee's of course. one of them, the owners run one of the biggest dirt drag strips in the area. it's usually not a problem when asking technical ?'s.
