What Do You Do At Work When You Have Nothing To Do
MILO replied to eehsnab2's topic in General Banshee Discussion
out of my usual 12.5 hr work day, i rarely get bored and have time to play around. i'm the supervisor, and have about 18 people to keep busy, not to mention interacting with the other departments to keep things rolling. even my breaks are sometimes spent in my office doing paperwork/computer work. if i do get free time, i'll call or e-mail my wife, or go around and bs with my guys while they work. i rarely get on the net at work. and everyone sais supervisor's have it made! -
29 with 8 months before hitting the big 30

i don't know how much the tors would affect this, but i've heard it can do some crazy shit when they go bad. try unhooking it and see what happens. do a tors search to find out more details about it. i think all you need to do is follow the wire to a little black box on the frame and unhook it there.

are you using the stock hangers, or pc hangers? i was wondering if it made any difference. i'm still using the stock ones.

i do mostly woods riding and hill climbing, a few strip mines here and there. there's a lot of open farm fields around, but you gotta get thru the woods to get to anything. i was surprised the rim didn't crack, or send me over the bars, for as hard as i hit that rock. but it's ok, just looks bad. still holds air too. i like the look of the itp's over the douglas.

after reading all of these in depth responses, here's my opinion. uhhhhhh, no! i mean, yeah! well then again, maybe not. did yu sa u want to break yer ingin?? just kidding. engine braking-yes, but you won't notice it near as much as you would on some 4 strokes.

near raystown? not too far from raystown, nyuk. about a 40 min. drive. i wish i had a boat too. maybe once the 'shee is paid for.

i wonder if i could buy another banshee, and say it was for my wife? that would be like buying her a new shotgun for Christmas. damn, they'd be considered gifts and she'd get to keep them even after she left me. it's a no win situation. lol

i beat the hell out of my ft stocker, and it's still not quite right. a new stock rim is a ripoff, so i was thinking of getting a set of itp's or something. anything requiring repair is a good excuse for upgrades. what kind would anyone suggest?

What Do You Guys Do Besides Riding Your Shee?
MILO replied to ScreaminShee01's topic in General Banshee Discussion
i usually spend about 12.5-13 hrs a day at work, the rest is spent with wife and baby, or sleeping. on my days off, if i'm not with my family, or on my 'shee , any time during hunting season, i'm in the woods somewhere. spring and summer, i'm out on my cbr, out shooting my bow, or being the family mechanic. always on the net or playstation if nothing else is going on. -
i've heard the nuts do work loose sometimes, but i haven't seen it yet. i was told that a loose rotor is the 1st sign of your axle bearings being worn. i found out that my bearings were shot, and replacing them fixed my loose rotor too. support the rear end on a jack or something, and see if theres any play in the axle at the carrier.

Will I Regret Selling The Bansh For A Raptor?
MILO replied to LTZ Killa's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yeah what's the deal with the "high maintainence" stuff anyway. chain adjusting, sprocket and brake wear, air filter cleaning, fluid checks, frequent lubing, bolt checks, and whatever else should be the same for any ride. and there's a big difference between used, and abused machines. that's why i bought mine new. too many people mess with shit and don't really know what they are doing, and the next guy pays for it. for your own safety, and prevention of getting stranded somewhere, any ride should be taken care of regularly. banshee's are no worse than anything else. but like the others said, in my experiences, i'd rebuild a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke anyday. -
mine's not too difficult either. believe it or not, my middle name is milo. of course when people find out, i get called milo all the time. and my sister's called me that for years, since i made fun of her name when we were little.

pro design with foam filters, w/o the lid. no problems in any conditions.

couldn't the carb's being out of sync cause that too? and make sure you pull both plugs when checking for proper jetting. it may give you some insight as to what's going on with which cylinder. but an air leak does sound to be the most likely cause.
-
you may already be aware of this but if not -- when you had the carbs apart, did you make sure not to get the bowls switched? the left carb contains the starter jet, and they have to be on the correct carb or shee won't start without kicking till your foot is blue, or towing it and catching it in gear. i found that out the hard way too. also make sure the equalizer tube between the carbs is in place, or you'll have the same results.

i have the did x-ring and like it so far. i haven't had it off again to thoroughly clean it yet, and have only had to adjust it a few times. i usually do daily lubes when i get home from a ride not before i go out. i'll wash the whole thing, then put the chain lube on before i put it away and give it time to soak in, rather than fling it all off right away from riding. supposedly it soaks in anyway. did atv x-ring, renthal sprockets, and bel-ray lube. no problems as of yet. i've done the chain on my cbr in kerosene to clean it then soaked it in 20w-50 oil, and wiped it clean. that seems to help it too.

it wasn't me, but i watched a pretty cool crash once. it was the first poker run i ever went on, and i didn't even know the guy. he was climbing this wicked steep hill, short, but a pretty good lip at the peak. anyway he gets to the top, slows up a little to prevent launching over the lip facing the clouds, and gets hung up on it instead. he mashes the gas, which quickly digs a hole in the coal, as it starts to roll back. luckily he bailed off to the side in time and slides down the hill on his ass. his new raptor, on the other hand, must have gotten a bit of a bite as he bailed, which took the back tires up the lip and flipped it completely upside down and kicked it out away from the peak of the hill. it took about a 15' dead drop to the ground and landed flat upside down. it flattened the bars and steering stem into the tank and bent the frame, busting front end linkage, and a motor mount, and bent up the grab bar and broke a rear fender. a month old machine on it's first real ride. and the guy hadn't gotten it insured yet cause liability is all that's required for registration. the guy wasn't injured bad, just had some coal to pick out of his ass. it could have been a lot worse. it could have been a banshee instead of a craptor. lol.

how many stories like this does it take before people realize how important helmets are? here in pa., they just did away with the helmet law for bikes on the street too. wearing seatbelts is mandatory by law in a car in pa., yet there's people cruising and ripping around on bikes and quads without helmets. poker runs here require helmets, and i've seen guys go 1/2 a mile from the start, and take off their helmet and strap it on the back of their ride for the day. it doesn't make sense. guns, bikes, and atv's don't kill. it's careless, irresonsible, negligent people. i'm sorry for that family's loss, and pray for them. it's sad that people have to learn things the hard way.

i haven't had hardly any crashes with my 'shee. almost lost it at the top of a snow covered hill climb a few weeks ago though. it was the first time i didn't make it to the top of a climb with my shee. damn snow!! i think within 1/2 of a second i imagined various broken bones, and also all the parts i'd have to replace if she rolled. so i bailed as it started sliding backwards but latched on to the bars and ft. end to try to stop it from rolling. it kept sliding and took me with it, and somehow ended up having my leg pinned under the back tire against the rut of the climb, but at least it stopped it till help came. it took 4 of us to slide it down the hill without losing it. my first thought was to save myself i guess, but i never gave up on my shee. both of us made it to the bottom in one piece, thank god.

i think some banshee owners clean and treat their ride better than i do my car. i love my old firebird and wash it every weekend in the summer, and it never sees anything outside of my garage in the winter. but keeping a quad out of mud and water and spotless? i guess for a lot of you duners out west it's about show as much as it is go, and you can ride all day in the sand and not get too dirty. i see alot of sweet paint jobs, and chromed up machines on here, but they wouldn't last for shit where i ride. don't get me wrong, i usually wash mine after riding if it's all mudded up and i try to take care of it. but it's hard to go anywhere without getting into mud and water. that's what riding is all about here in pa. mudding and hillclimbing. and gncc style riding.
-
great idea. i'll have to try it next time. maybe my wife won't laugh so much from hearing me cussing and bitching in the garage.
-
if your not overheating, and have a good antifreeze/water mix, then truthfully, i think you fit right in. all banshees seem to have this problem. it's kind of a design flaw i suppose. from what i've heard, all 'shees need a little drink now and again cause they like to spit it out the overflow. that's why some guys will relocate the resevoir to the front of the quad. i guess that helps it somehow.
