  1. from what i've gathered, it is a pretty common problem. one of those famed banshee inevitable mishaps. i think it either melted or it's stuck in the radiator, cuz i haven't found any debris yet. i'm one of those 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' guys. i figured it would happen eventually, and luckily it didn't cause any other noticable damage. it's not a tough fix, or too expensive, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to make it a mod rather than a repair.
  2. hey navy, it's tough taking your eyes off of that ass shakin' long enough to read your post, even if it is short. "i would-ass-ass-ass-try to adjust-ass-ass-ass-the preload-ass-ass-ass- if it doesn't work-ass-ass-ass-ass-ass.... she can adjust my preload anyday
  3. thanks for the advice. i'll check it out.
  4. the impeller itself is wasted. all that remains is the shaft, no blades or anything. i'm sure the pieces ruined the seal to the crankcase, which is letting antifreeze into the oil. it runs, but the clutch slips pretty bad from the antifreeze in the oil. i haven't run it since it happened, but i'm just now getting around to fixing it. i just drained the oil and i'm about to pull the clutch cover and see if any debris is in there. i'm planning on replacing the impeller, seal, and bearings. i was planning on just changing the oil a few times before running it too much to try to clean it out some. any other ideas?
  5. i'm probably gonna replace it with the pro design impeller. shee let me down the week before thanksgiving and hasn't been started or worked on since. the antifreeze/oil is still in there, which i'm about to go drain in a few minutes. what should i do to flush it out real good??
  6. all you should need to do is snip the wires from the key switch and find the match up that completes the circuit, basically bypassing the key switch. it's simple on the shee, it's basic wiring, i'm sure it's similar.
  7. thanks guys.
  8. my clutch started slipping pretty bad while riding today, so even though i just checked it before leaving to ride, i checked the oil again, and yep, it's a little milky looking. it's the 1st i've had the shee out for about 7-8 weeks. i've had the seal behind the impeller go bad on my kx once, causing the same thing. i'm assuming that's all it is, but are there any other places for coolant to leak in from? it's not overheating, or no power loss, so i don't think it's the head gasket. the clutch slipping was the only sign i noticed before checking the oil again. also, is running a few rounds of oil thru it enough to clean it up inside and drag out the water/coolant, or should it be ripped down and cleaned up?? thanks.
  9. i'm just curious if there are other guys out there obsessed with other things than your shee. myself, once archery season starts here in pa., the banshee pretty much sits till spring. hunting season takes over, and then the snow flies anyway, so i spend more time cleaning, and fidgeting with it in the garage than getting seat time. besides, i try to respect other hunters and stay out of the woods once hunting season starts. the yard is about as far as it goes.
  10. i thought that yamaha will still be making banshee's, just not available for sale in the states due to the emissions standards here.
  11. yeah buddy!! that would be great to hit with my cbr! there are some twisty roads here in central pa, but nothing like that! and what a view. almost makes me consider taking a vacation with the shee and the cbr to s africa. i wonder if my wife would approve?
  12. what am i really scared of?? LETTING OTHERS KNOW WHAT I'M REALLY SCARED OF! it never fails, you let someone in on your weaknesses, and they will take advantage of them at every opportunity.
  13. wtf is with the cop pulling a gun on a kid on a quad, sitting along the side of the road, and not attempting to get away!! i understand in some situations police need to take a definite offensive/defensive action with their weapon right from the start, but c'mon. unless you presented some sort of harmful situation to him, that's bullshit. would he have shot you if you fled, just for being on a quad on the road?? when we were teens, my buddy got chased on a little dirtbike, and the cop ran into the back of him, crashed him into a ditch to get him to stop. luckily he only had a broken arm, but it was totally uncalled for. did he just commit a murder and was fleeing?? no, just a kid on a bike on some little backroad in the middle of nowhere!! what a crime!!!! i have a lot of respect for the police, and what they do, but they get a little carried away sometimes. i always tell my 14 yr. old nephew that i ride with, if we/you get chased, run for the nearset trail and you'll be fine, but don't kill yourself trying to do it. if he wrecks on his own, that sucks. if a cop wrecks him or shoots at him just for being on the road, i'll track that sob down and give him a real reason to pretend to be a tough guy cop. he'd probably piss himself having to deal with a serious situation.
  14. that black l.e. shee with the new graphics would look so sweet with my pc's, a new polished bumper, t-9 bajas, and... if only i could get one without the wife leaving me for it. oh well, a fellow can dream i guess.
  15. granted this is a banshee site, but with all the hype about the yfz450 vs. the banshee, i was just curious how the new honda holds up to the yfz and banshee? anybody have any stories to tell? and no bs, "i want the truth". and i can handle it.
  16. a few years back, when i 1st got my shee, i was at the local stealership and i saw this really sweet looking seat cover. blue and white with "banshee" on the sides of it. i thought it was a GYTR but i can't find anything like it anywhere. any ideas before i make an extra trip to the shop to ask about it? and no, i'm not really impressed with most "design it yourself" configurations that i've found on the net.
  17. "BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. (PSALM 46)" your situation and apparent history and language sure doesn't reflect your sig. you need to be still, and realize that God has given you another chance to straighten up!! don't even tell me that your saying "i am God". then i would really get offended and throw "the good book" at you.
  18. EBC severe duty!
  19. my 1st thoughts were-how much do you use your legs to help absorb the bumps and such. if you keep your butt on the seat all the time your back will constantly take the abuse left over from the suspension. i've seen this with several other people, and it's a pretty simple solution to use your legs more. 2nd- adjust or upgrade suspension. 3rd- kidney belt. 4th - see your doc and get checked out. you may be aggravating an injury or problem when you ride.
  20. personally, i don't really like the look of the 450's. they may be an awsome ride, but again, for the extra $$ you'd have into one, if you put some of that into your shee to customize it for your riding terrain and style, i would think you'll be just as happy, since it's a toss up for you to begin with. besides, i'd prefer a screaming banshee over a blaghh thumper any day!
  21. i forgot that was gonna be on and i missed it. but guess what, it's on again right now. it just started 20 minutes ago. i'm gonna check it out now. thanks.
  22. yeah i forgot about that with my last post. i was a little leery about the flatness of the ps fronts too, and it sounds like i may have had good reason. i figured my next choice would be holeshot xcr's. 6 ply and i like the treads and the shape of them. the more i look at them, i like them better than the ps fronts anyway.
  23. dirtrider, you were just plain in the wrong here bud. you screwed up, now it's time to pay the price. if you "almost got killed" then the people who kept you there till more advanced help arrived did the right thing, with your best interest in mind- your well being. i'm trained one level below an emt and if i was there i would strongly urge you to stay till further assistance arrives, but holding you down, etc. isn't right either, unless you were incoherent and obviously in an altered state of mind due to shock from the trauma. when you put yourself into a bad situation, bad results are sure to follow. i love your statement " thing is. im not a criminal, i was just riding my bike anf fell off and almost got killed". it sounds to me like everything you were doing is illegal, and apparently it's not the 1st time if you're on probation, etc. get your shit together man! oh, that's right, i guess you'll have plenty of offers for that while your doin' time with "big bubba".
  24. dennis kirk's prices usually aren't much better than the stealerships in my area. add shipping and you might as well get them from the stealership and have them mounted for $00.
