  1. my cousing had a gsxr1100, and every time we went riding in the twisties, i'd smoke him. my f2 is a lot easier to corner with and has plenty of snap. my other buddy had a cbr900. when we lined them all up on a straight, i kept up till around 100mph, then they'd pull way. for most street purposes, i've found the 600's to be perfect. when i say street i'm not talking city streets though. mostly winding country roads, up and down mountains, etc. of course we have plenty of places to wind them out too, but it's not to often i've ever felt the "need" to exceed 160 anyway.
  2. just what do you guys consider small, or big enough? i'm about a 16" upper arm and easily a 46" chest. i've always considered myself on the small side, and i don't think another 1" in my arms would make me be considered a ripped, ass kickin guy. i'm 6' and about 210, and in decent shape. maybe i'm just used to all the big farm boys around here, who you can tell didn't get their mass from a bottle. $400 a month! dude you need to forget that, and spend some time farming and make an extra several hundred $$ a month rather than blowing it, and get the look you want. by the way, i've never gone to a gym, or gotten into lifting weights at home either.
  3. i'll most likely do like cotton eyed joe said and replace them all at once and hold on to the old ones that appear to be good. getting into replacing one, and then the other, and then the other, and so on can be a headache. i do like to keep things top notch too. i figured since one went bad, it wouldn't be long till the others in the same system would go bad too. might as well do it all in one shot i guess. thanks guys.
  4. i saw that the fox air frame has about the largest size. up to 6'9", and 300lbs. don't know if that's in your range, but it's about the biggest i've seen. i know its hard to find stuff for the big guy. the 300 lb size probably still wouldn't fit my dad, but he's working on losin it.
  5. i'm glad you guys brought up the under jersey kind. i thought they wouldn't do much for a crash, just good for roost protection. i saw the thor force, and they look pretty cool. but i kind of like the hinged back on the fox airframe. and they are about the same price. well, after some of your stories, i'm definitely gonna get something. might head to a local shop tomorrow and scope them out a little more, rather than just looking at pics. thanks for the input.
  6. i have one bushing that is noticably bad on my rear linkage, where the arm connects to the swingarm. i have the pw linkage kit to replace everything. my ? is should i do it all at the same time or save the rest till they seem to need it? you know, if it ain't broke don't fix it, kind of thing. by the way, any experience with the roller bearing bushing pw has in their kits now? i just changed a-arm bushings on my nephew's blaster with them tonight. the same is in my linkage kit. stock blaster has plastic a-arm bushings!! i'm sure the rollers will by far outlast them if kept greased up.
  7. upp kit works great. i dropped the swing arm to do the initial change over to their slider, but it was no big deal. i've been running it for about a year without any problems.
  8. if i have a son, his name will be sonny. since my daughter's name is Shadey. Shadey Rayanne is my daughter's name. no, actually i'm hoping for Joshua Tyler. but the wife's not to excited about that one. my sister's boys are Dylan Christopher and Blaize Elijah. her friends boy is Dakota. my buddies boys are Landon, and Isaiah. i like different names, not bob, bill, tom, etc. ever see gladiator? how about Maximus? my wife said i could name my next dog that, not our child. just give him a strong, cool name. not something you know he'll be made fun of for. oh yeah, and don't make his middle name Milo. he'll never hear the end of that one.
  9. i'm sure a lot of you guys wear chest protectors. it's ok, you can admit it, it's not a "sissy plate". personally i'm considering one cuz i've had open heart surgery a few years ago, and i'm not comfortable with the idea of chest/rib injuries. anyway, what kind would you suggest, as far as comfort, durability, and best deal? looking into fox or thor at the moment.

    Tires

pure sport bandit xc's. , and i love them. they slip in the grass in the yard IF it's wet, otherwise they hook up awsome. trails, mud, shale, hardpack roads, coal, i ride mostly woods trails, fields, hill climbs(woods mostly). no sand here in pa. they are a pretty tough tire, great for rough trails. and they wear excellent.
  11. i ride woods and dusty conditions too, with the pro design with foam, and without the lid. haven't had any problems yet. just check it after every ride and clean as needed.
  12. every 20 hrs?? mine are probably due for repacking after last summer of riding, but is 20hrs necessary?
  13. i've lost the mirror finish on my pc's, but they're still shiny. will mothers and a lot of elbow grease bring it back? never dull and fine steel wool hasn't done the trick.
  14. i surely wouldn't want to be without health insurance, or homeowners, or auto. but what is insurance? it is a "what if" scam. well what if "what if" never happens, and you never have to file a claim for anything? i firmly believe that i should be reaping the benefits from having good fortune, rather than some asshole insurance agent living the highlife from my money that i've paid to protect myself in the case of an accident or what have you. i understand that a lot of claims involve outrageous $$ payoffs, and your individual input wouldn't cover a lot of mishaps. but c'mon man, a little kickback would be nice, rather than increasing my payments . obviosly they're taking a hell of a lot more in than they're paying out. i've never heard of a poor insurance agent, or an insurance company filing for bankruptcy.
  15. i just dump it on my sand mound! if i paid $7,400 for a place for my sewage to go and come out the other end "95% pure, and drinkable" , then i guess it's good enough for my used oil. no, it's usually taken to a recycling ctr.
  16. i was surprised nobody mentioned the bowls being switched. that's usually one of the 1st things to check if you've had the carbs off recently and you're having trouble starting. also the equalizer tube. keep that in mind.
  17. minnshee01, i run without the lid all the time. i have a pro design adaptor and foam filters. haven't had any problems with it yet. just be sure to check your filter after every ride, and clean as needed. and ditch the drain catch on the bottom of the box to let water and stuff roll back out. as said before, just watch out for water crossings that would be over your airbox. otherwise, you should be fine.
  18. roosthrower, did you do a plug chop after dropping your jet size so much? you may actually be running lean, which sometimes will seem to run better, but your top ends gonna pay for it.
  19. big steele, if you buy the shee, and it doesn't already have air box mods, that's one thing i would still upgrade. you'll notice a huge difference if you replace the pos stock filter and open up the box some to let those pipes "breathe". pro design makes an excellent air filter/adaptor kit.
  20. i made the mistake of tracking the $$ i have in her. but i didn't think it was a mistake until the wife found that file. anyway, basically $6,000 new, and about $1900 afterwards. that's mods, and general repairs together. $7900, but i'm sure it's just the beginning.
  21. was this the original owner? bought new in 01 and 30hrs since then? stored inside or out? with that in mind, here's my $.02. 1-figure out the elevation in your area, and normal riding temps and make sure your jetting is close 2- dump the old gas and clean the carbs, filter, put in new plugs 3- change the tranny oil 4- change the coolant 5- check brake fluid levels/quality 6- if everything else appears new, now you can ride 7- check filter every ride, clean accordingly 8- lube chain after every ride. dirt etc tends to really stick to a freshly lubed chain 9- grease all fittings once a week, more if riding in water crossings or really wet conditions 10- changing tranny oil depends on riding time and abuse, otherwise about every other month. 11- change coolant every spring. most shee's always require topping off frequently anyway. and i don't ride much over the winter. 12 - START LOOKING INTO MODS 13 - stick with the bansheehq. there's and immense amount of shee knowledge and experience here, and people who will gladly help you out with anything.
  22. DUDE, that is a lame question. i usually don't respond this way, but there are just too many factors to consider. even if you gave specific details, hillclimbing is a very fluid situation, and everything could change at any second, requiring gear changes, throttle control, body positioning, you name it, you'd better be prepared for it. 1 gear only and zig zagging! i think you zigged when you should have zagged and rolled to the bottom and bumped your head.
  23. i love the winters here in south central pa. i like the variety of weather, not just hot all the time. BUT, i've had enough for this year and i'm ready to get out the shee, and my cbr. after all the snow melted, we have water and mud everywhere. it's really a mess out there. but then again, that's half the fun. i may look into a new snowmobile for next year though. not riding all winter really sucks.
  24. i was gonna say you should change your name to flamethrower, but since it's fixed, i guess you're roosthrower again.
  25. my cbr is a '92, and i bought it in 96. right now it has about 16,000 miles on it and is in prime condition. best of all, it's been paid for for about 6 years. anyone who sees it and doesn't know years etc by looking at it, asks me if it's new. i love my cbr, but i don't get out on it as much as i'd like lately. i'm hooked on the shee too, and most of my freetime outside of work and family is spent on my shee instead. i hope to balance it out some this summer.
