  1. changing your premix isn't going to affect your fuel to air ratio. that can only be done with intake mods/carb adustments. if you change from 32:1 to 40:1, you are only making your premix more lean. no real difference it performance, but your giving your motor less lubrication. with yamalube, i'd stick with 32:1 to be on the safe side.
  2. i finally ordered a chest protector. i got the fox air frame, from rocky mtn. for $116. it's supposed to be hear by the middle of next week. it was a real toss up between that and the thor force. i kind of liked the "hinged" back on the fox, and the general look of it slightly better. anyway, thanks for all the input guys.
  3. yeah that sucks! i was about to order new fronts from rocky mtn too. they had the best deal i could find. i haven't found anywhere comparable yet. i may end up at the stealership.
  4. does that mean that you could buy a new banshee from a foreign dealer and have it shipped to the states? or will it be banned from importing, even to individuals?
  5. i ride about the same terrain, and i love my pure sports bandits. they suck in wet grass in the yard, but work awsome anywhere else. hardpack, mud, trails, coal, whatever. they've never let me down and lost traction while hill climbing either.
  6. i spent 4 days in the hospital when i had mine out, due to heart medications that i'm on. while i was in, my wife was about to have our 1st baby, and ended up in the other end of the hospital at the same time. at least we got to visit each other most of the day. she had the baby shortly after i was released. oh yeah, those gaping holes in your mouth really sucked!! the syringe worked pretty good, but was painfull too. glad i got all 4 done at once, and don't have to go through it again.
  7. there are too many variables to this. i started with 280's and was really lean. went up to 360's before plug chops proved a good set up.
  8. that was my understanding of this kind of thing too. ups wouldn't give me a tracking # once either. they said the only way was to get it from the shipper. you better start sucking up to your lady friend. women sure do know how to make your life hell sometimes don't they??
  9. from what i've gathered, ronnies is just another chain of a dealer. when i ordered some things from them, it was just like any other stealership, it takes a few days to a week for them to get it in, then + whatever the shipping time is that you ordered by. it took about 3 weeks to get my stuff before too. their prices may be a little better than the locals, but for the time it took, and the $$ for shipping, i could have gotten my stuff at a local stealership and been out riding rather than sitting here punching out e-mails and tracking #'s to see when my parts were coming.
  10. i put new inserts on my cbr's bars and they definitely helped. haven't noticed a vibration problem on the shee though.
  11. here's to her sandstar!! does she make ring-a-ding noises too?
  12. the helmet issue really burns me. i'll get a fine for not wearing my seatbelt, but i can blow by on the bike without a helmet and it's not a problem!! doesn't make sense to me. funny thing is, i ALWAYS wear a helmet, but very rarely wear my seat belt.
  13. thanks guys. you just made my 2yr old girl cry. ok, so it scared the shit out of me too!!
  14. the lower bushing on the ft shocks are not replaceable, but the upper one's are. it doesn't necessarily mean the shock is bad also. that's why the bushings are there, to take beating and wear before damage to the shock occurs. i couldn't find replacements anywhere. good excuse for an upgrade though. i bought works triple rates, and never regretted it.
  15. between my shep, and my nephew's lab, we should be in pretty good shape.
  16. It's a good thing I don't ride with dogs then. Yamalube works just fine for me. is that why my german shepherd gives me a tail wag and a high paw when i go by her. she know's my rides in good shape and that i'll be back home to feed her soon. damn, i thought she was just telling me to have fun!!
  17. if your a good rider, your chances of getting hurt aren't much worse than on a quad. i rode bikes for years and only had a few times where i crashed and got hurt. know your limits, and use some common sense. if your that unsure about your skills on a bike, you may want to go with the 4 stroker. it will be a little more forgiving and easier to gradually improve your abilities with. besides that, i wouldn't tell you what YOU should get without seeing you ride first.
  18. i agree with stu. leather's the way to go for the road. there's no way i'd trade leathers for your fox pants to hit the street on my cbr. i don't wear leather pants, but my jacket wouldn't be anything but leather. leather would have to be wicked hot and uncomfortable in the dirt though. i'd say stick with the fox's, and just don't lay her down on the road. that's the best solution.
  19. bite your tongue and go to the stealership. even if they are pricks, i wouldn't let that keep me from getting what i need and going riding.
  20. my wife did a test with a laser on a piece of fiberglass i gave her. it was a project for school,(electrical & mechanical engineering). the laser barely made a mark on the part. lasers work awsome on plastic, but not fiberglass reinforced plastic. as far as fabrication work to fiberglass, the diamond tip blades, router bits, anything diamond tip is the only answer. carbide tips aren't bad, but don't last long either. i've used concrete blades here at home, but it tears them up quick too. i'm the fabrication supervisor at my work, so i have LOTS of experience with this. it's expensive, but diamond tipped tools are the answer.
  21. my pc's pull fine bottom to top after getting it jetted right. once everything is dialed in, they should be fine.
  22. one of mine was slightly bent, and i straightened it out and haven't had any problems with it since. that was almost 2 years ago. but i've also heard that other brands need set up differently due to different lengths and thicknesses.
  23. have patience young'n. limits on your toys and debt is a given for most of us. first comes the vehicle-substantiall $$. then comes your sweetie you got from cruisin in the cool vehicle- major$$$. then comes the little ones you made with the sweetie that you made out with in your vehicle - rugrats and the new family vehicle to haul them in-$$$$$$$. mortgage for the new house to provide a stable home for the sweetie, rugrats, and a garage for the vehicle-$$$$$$$$$$$$$. where does the shee fit in? considering the job, the bills, the kids, the wife, the mortgage, you need to escape now and then. that's where 'shee comes in. your already in debt up to your ass, so what's another 6 g's for a new shee. by then, the wife will want you out of the house now and then anyway, and there's no better way to go. soon you hear "daddy, can i get a fo wheewer?" ha-ha, it's a never ending cycle. you better go with an old beat up truck, get yourself thru school, college, and get yourself a damn good job. the fun is just beginning.
  24. they may be out of the new market, but not out of the sport quad picture. the shee will not be forgotten, and i believe it will be a long time until everything is no longer compared to the banshee for speed, and the rush of the ride.
  25. they've tried a water jet at my work before. we make fiberglass reinforced plastics. believe it or not, it didn't work too well. we still use diamond tipped blades instead. they work pretty slick and one of the few things that will hold up to it.
