  2. Like NYUK said you can get the stocker valved and sprung, Eric at Elka will give you a price if you email him...and yes a good back shock will help for whoops, but remember the fronts hand the obsticle to the rear to absorb, so a great rear wont make up for terrible front shocks but will make a world of difference.....
  3. Bud Light....
  4. another...
  5. I havnt had a problem being seen yet.............
  6. Troys up close....
  7. Hey Stan heres the pics i said id snap.....the gaurds on the left are Answer cheappies around 18 bucks, but work well, the black ones are the Troy Lee's they are killer cozy and you can take a baseball bat to the knee around 25 bucks.....the little ones on the right will fit a boot that doesnt support the shin part of the gaurd or work well if you are going to just go out in your jeans and sneekers for a quick trail ride......
  8. thats kinda how i feel its not worth pissing and moaning about.....but any one in cali wanna come out to Honda Valley and see a piped 450 beat your piped shee is welcome and ill give that same guy a 20 foot head start banshee against banshee in a 100 yard dash in the dirt........ on the street in a 1/4 mile ill give ya 100 foot jump on me, you win ill buy the beer, i win ill still buy the beer.....
  9. Kudos again David, your a top notch guy, thanks again for turning us all on to Jim at passion, you guys must be related.......
  10. in my opinion for the rec rider the works are fine also, except for the one time a rec rider attempts even a 30 foot double, as well as opens it up down a long rythm section of whoops, or hits any off camber ruts, and the list goes on....... haveing a rezzie on a shock with no rebound or compression adjustments seems real stupid to me but on the other hand that shock would need it more than a correctly valved fully adjustable, since its just bounceing down the trail, if you could load an overly soft spring (and be able to agjust it's preload) in a stock shocks body youd have the "works" shock.....the difference between the expensive shock and the cheap one are just that, money, how nice a shock do you want? a fully adjustable, setup for your riding style, that will, allow you to fly down straights and hang on, corner like a slot car and a have not so plush miss timed triples, not result in a trip to the emergency room, that would Be a more expensive shock, so you do kinda get what you pay for.....i could make a shock in my garage that would rival the cheap works shock.........
  11. depending on who made them, the piggy back will have a larger valve to the piggy back rez than the 1/4" line to the remote rez.....making the shock run a pinch cooler
  12. id go with the barnetts...run 3 stock springs, 3 barnett......it will be a little stiff but tight as fuuck
  13. run 20cc domes johny......you will be safe on pump fuel...even with a +4 timing advance...
  14. i race district 37 in cali......
  15. only a moron would put a +4 swing arm on a yzf450...no wonder you beat him.....
  16. jims motor will pull the shit outta that 16.......i can do third gear wheelies, not even trying with a 17/40....it pulls so hard from way down low......try the 17 or 16 up front you can allways change it f you dont like it......the 17/40 will do about a 100 mph...... for trails and mx i think you will dig it ........i can jump on the track and stay in third, with a little clutch for the slower corners....
  17. jims a good guy youre bike outta fly when yer done
  18. thats exactly what ive been saying....
  19. thats all i could find also.......you'll need a 4 bolt hub....i looked high and low myself......and moding a 4 bolt to 6 will work but is a pain and isnt the prettiest looking either.....
  20. see thats your problem got1..... i had to take a 4 bolt 38 tooth sprocket and lay it out against a 6 bolt and drill it, kinda a pain in the ass, and it has to be dead on, or youll throw your chain....the motor reacts a little diff to a taller front than a smaller back also......ask some of the guys with high horsepowered shee's if there snapping chains......you could go to a 530 pitch instead of 520....
  21. True, HP dont mean jack without torque. Thats probly the answer to whoever lost to a yfz cuz the yfz got ahead and he couldnt catch the yfz..The two bikes are totally diferent i bet a 60-70 horse yfz keeps up or even beats 80-90 hp banshee's this is kinda how im seeing it go down myself......if you put both bikes on pavement, or sand you could even things up a bit........and thats why 60 horse 450 stays with my 80+ 350 cause im shooting a 20 foot roost while he's just kicking up a little dust....
  22. no offense takin mooney, im racing them in the dirt not in sand, and on a MX track......i wouldnt go so far as to surmise my bikes slow, but a shee with just a pipe wont take that 450 with a pipe in the dirt, well at least the 1/2 dozen shee's ive seen race them wont, little things like traction have a shit load to do with it.......id love to state its a fact the shee's faster, but i havent seen it yet, i can line up with that 450 and 4 other piped only shee's and when we pass the 300 foot mark that 450 is the only bike within 40 feet of me.....race one on a track, you'll see what im talking about......
  23. yeah but your riding a stock bike......a 15 on your bike is like a 13 on mine.....sometimes you need to gear up......
  24. Thanks, that is alot better....and it don't take a hell of a lotta smarts to speak or spell, i see at your second attempt at it, you got a lot closer, if you go back to 5th grade, you wont need to worry about a car......
