  3. To be honest I havent even opened my airbox on the yfz. I want to buy that Dr. something slip on exhaust for it and do the cam mod. But right now its just a gas and go bike. When I got it, the guy at the dealership told me to turn it on and let it idle for a couple mins and while we were talking we noticed that the exhaust pipe was glowing red, like molten steel red. He said oh yeah they all do that. Even though mine runs hot, the fan has only came on one time in all the abuse I put it through.
  4. My electrical system is fine too, I just like to keep things very simple. Like kick start. The tranny on my yfz reminds me of my old craptor tranny (clunky, hard to find neutral). my banshee tranny is seamless and neutral is easy to find. I like a lot of hp and the yfz can't get above 60 wheel hp without extensive engine mods. A ported shee can easily make that. I dont have override tranny, because I trail ride too. I personally dont like the sound of four strokes. They sound like helicopters kinda. The bolts that hold my skid plate on, plastics, and one of engine oil supply bolts came off and squirted oil everywhere. my yfz is bone stock and I bought it for my wife to ride. I was just letting him know what I like and disliked just like he asked. They are a top notch machine. I am just really hard on things, thats all. Oh and mine runs hot as shit, dealership said it was normal.
  5. I have both and the yfz is great but not worth getting rid of a ported banshee for though. The yfz is a good addition to the shee, but cannot replace the shee. jmo likes: fuel economy, looks, handling, can do nice slow wheelies dislikes: elctrical system, slow, transmission is clunky, sounds like shit, bolts keep coming loose

  9. 200 gallons is a long time, when you rebuild a cheetah you just replace the pistons and rings, you dont send it away for a bore and hone.
  10. shit,yamalube 2r is pricey compared to what I use. I run suzuki cci, its only 4.85 for a quart. I have been running it since 1995 in all my two stroke applications. 32:1. it is so underated, and it smells good too.

  13. If you want to save money, then just wait and get the cubs, I was too impatient to wait for the cubs so I got the full grown cheetah. You will not be dissapointed with either set up.

  15. When your getting on it can you still pull in the clutch with a lock up? I heard that they make it very hard or impossible to pull in the clutch at high engine speeds. I have a direct drive and some 36 pwk's on the way but I dont have, nor do i want an override tranny.
  16. oh that stuff may be different that the auto zone junk. read the ingriedeints, if it has toluene or xylene as the first ingriedient then it may be the real deal. Another thing if your compression is not over 155 or 160 and you run over 93 octane you are effectively retarding your ignition timing because of the burn characteristics of higer octane fuels.
  17. the octane boost at auto zone is a gimmick. if you want to boost your octane safely with out race gas you can go to Lowes and buy a gallon of xylene. It is $10 but it is 117 octane. 4 gallons of 93 and 1 gallon of xylene would be around 97 octane. If you read the bottle of octane boost it says it will raise your octane by some number of points. They mean decimal points not full whole number points. ie 93 would go to 93.3 not 96. If you want to figure out how much race gas it takes to achieve a certain octane level you take (octane of race x number of gallons) + (octane of pump gas x number of gallons) divide all that by total number of gallon so 1 gallon of 112 and 4 gallons of 91 would be ((112x1)+(4x91))/5 = 95.2
  18. yeah you must be way too rich, your spark plug wasnt brown when you checked it because its so rich and cant burn all that "petro", it was prolly wet when you checked it.

  20. Wow, that engine looks tight chromed out like that, do you do 300 ft drags? what are your times, do you run race gas? Have you had it to the dyno before? looks real good man. you must have super killer low end with those power valves.
  21. If you rode it all day with out over heating, Im gonna say your rich, but if the plug is not showing signs of richness then I dont know.
  22. 34 pj, cpi inframes. that's what Dan said to use. His jetting advice was spot on, I couldnt believe it. It started right up and pulls clean from bottom to top. The low end power is unreal, it has more bottom end then my yfz and still has amazing top end. I was just breaking it in and racing my nephew on the yfz and I didnt have to rev it up and dump the clutch like usual, I just took off like I was at a stop light or something, and it will jump ahead of the yfz bad. Even with ported stock jugs I could smoke him in a drag race but he would get me off the line, but now it is not even close, not even in a short race. It does awesome wheelies too, I can bring it up going slow (with no clutching), just like a 4 stroke. I am so happy with it, I just wish I would have known about A&S before.

  24. I just got a ported 421 cheetah from Dan at A&S and it is awesome. Dan is the man, he knows so much about going fast, it is unreal. If you want to go really fast, hit up A&S for sure.
