  1. Ditto on my end, pipes and case save just as described...painless + keeps the lines of communication open!
  2. Look for some loose stuff floating around inside the case. Something similar happened to me right after I split my cases. When I went to change the oil I found what was left of a screw stuck to the magnetic drain plug. It also managed to break a tooth off of one of the gears which was causing it to pop out of gear under load. I say change the oil and see if you find anything; if not, no big loss as you will most likley have to do more than an oil change anyway.
  3. Check this shit out... Two trip ago I was heading back to campat night and my friend was leading us home. I hit a bump and the rear end locked up and almost threw me off the quad. What was it? A fucking bed that somebody had drug out into the middle of the dunes and burned! It was wrapped so badly around my axle, tires, and swingarm that there was no way I could have unwrapped it by hand. Luckly I managed to get a hold of my girlfriend who was back at camp on the two way, and she was able to send my friend back out after me with a pair of snips. It still took 10 min of cutting and pulling to get that God damn mess out of the back of the quad. Let me tell you, a burnt up bed buried in the sand is not something that I would expect to see in the middle of the dunes.
  4. In Arizona it is legal; the hardest part is the emissions. To my knowledge there were only two counties that required the test, unfortunately it was the two counties that made up most of the population of Arizona. Good luck trying; if you factor in the hassle the cops will give you even though you are legal it's going to take you about 4 hours to go 5 miles.
  5. How far Northern are we talking? I am currently in Sacramento.
  6. I used to own a newer body s-10 and I tell you the best thing that ever happend to it was those people who cut infront of me and totaled it. That thing was such a peice of shit I thhought that it had a 4 cylinder in it, boy was I surprised after about a year of driving it popping the hood for the first time and counting 6 spark plugh wires
  7. spent way too long getting my mechanical engineering degree and by the time I graduated I said, no fucking way do I want to do mechanical engineering. As luck would have it I landed a sales engineering job for the HVAC company Trane Commerical Systems and I love it. I sell and help design the commerical sized HVAC systems for large applications.
  8. I am 110% satisfied with not only the work done, but the customer service as well. For some unknown reason in this industry there seems to be a rather large ammount of people who just dont give a crap about their customers. Customer service and support goes a long way.
  9. And to think, all of that shouting contained one period but 8 different sentences. That must have been one hell of a time, didn't even have time to stop and take a breath.
  10. I have the Shearers. The silencers should mount right up to the stock location using a couple of washers as spacers. As for expansion chambers I was able to use one of the stock mounts, the other was a little bit off and was never able to mount it right. However, given the fact that the pipe springs are most likley never able to come off, I'm not too worried about it.
  11. Im not even sure what to say at this point, this is probabaly one of the most disturbing things that I have heard in a long time. I can only extend my deepest apologies towards you and your family. I hope that you can at least take solace in the fact that they are now in a better place, and there is the support of the whole hq community behind you. Once again, I am truly sorry and may God be with you in your time of need. thebloker
  12. Let him take you to court, see what the fuck that he is going to charge you with. A citizens arrest of driving recklessly? Take him to court for recklessly driving half the flow of traffic and causing three-mile long pile ups. Seriously, I can not think of one thing that he could take you to court for. Whenever people get pissed off, they say dumb shit like, 'I am going to sue you, and we are going to court over this'. etc. etc. I am 100% positive that you have nothing to worry about. That is unless he starts claming that you are giving him physical and mental anguish.
  13. I paid the same ammount for pre-mix last time out as I did here in town, the only thing that I see as overpriced is anything form the Glamis Beach Store. Now you want a good ass pounding, go ahead and buy your stuff from there. The only thing reasonably priced is the shitter, which is still a buck a pop.
  14. You guys are all way off. I'd say five, maybe six, but that's the absloute topps.
  15. I don't have to work today.
  16. For some reason or another, it seems like nobody made an aluminum case saver for the Banshee. I know other places made Al ones as well as the polyethelene ones, but none for the Banshee. This one is pretty cheap compared to the cost of poly vs. Al (Less than $30.00). I ordered it from them a while ago and didn't have any problems with delivery or fit and finish. Check them out at www.modquad.com , thought some people find that site usefull.
  17. I just got done dealing with a similar problem that my bike had always had since the day I picked it up. It seemed to get worse, and then better, and then worse again. I tried everything, switching the CDI, carbs, coil, plugs, plug wires, intake boots, and so on and so forth. What ended up happening is that the pickup coil was off by 20 thousands or so. I would have never thought that was the problem because it only happened on the left hand side; and I thought that if the pickup was off it would happen top both sides, but that was the deal. Before you try pulling all of your hair out and selling the quad, go ahead and check the gap. I believe offhand that it should be 20 thousands or so, about the thickness of a matchbook cover.
  18. Well, seeing as nobody has specifically said a location of where they are, I camp in the washes so I don't ever make it past Olds, and there are 2 sand drag locations, then yes, I might need some help finding them. Anything else useful that you want to add to this thread????????!!!!
  19. if you see a yellow and black Warrior, a red 400ex, and a silver and blue Banshee, stop by and say hi. I will be easy to spot at night, as my flag has a red/blue blinking light at the top, and about 6 white led's shining straight down. Bloker out.
  20. thanks for the info, I've already got it programmed into my GPS. I'll make sure to actually make it out there this time, there is a lot of stuff to see in Glamis. Be on the lookout for those long travel rails cartwheeling into the croud.
  21. It sounds like you guys are headed in the right direction. Hel, I personally belive that you should spend at least the next year, researching, training, and searching out sponsors for this event for the 2006 race. It requires a massive ammount of time and resources to even make this thing possible. I know that the Banshee is king at being able to tweak out the most HP out of the smallest motor, but even something as simple as fuel economy can screw you in the end. You can try to counteract that by carrying more gas, but it is still not going to change the fact that if I had to put my money on the most reliable, fuel efficient quad to finish the race, it would not be the banshee. I love my Banshee, and I love being able to smoke pretty much everything out there except other Banshees', but I have come to grips with the fact that if you screw with something that is already tempermental enough as is, it is just going to give you more problems in the end. Once again I would like to re-iterate that I am not against this idea of entering this race, I just believe that if you are going to do it, do it right,; and I do not believe that one years worth of time is encough to prepair a team that to this date has never formally met. I wish the best of luck to everybody and if you need anything, except money because I am a cheap bastard, feel free to contact me. I have am still in shcool so I have access to a rather expansive machine shop, plus I know quite a few mechanical and electrical engineering professors who I might be able to con into soing some extra work for the good of the cause. Take it easy, thebloker
  22. I bet that the easiest place to meet up would be at Bordmanville, it seems to be the only place where therre is a decent concentration of people without it ending up like f---ing Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. That makes it almost impossible to meet up with anyone, anywhere in Glamis. The only problem is that I am not sure when I am actually going to go there. The easiest way to find me at night would be the banshee with a large, blinking, red-blue light on top of the flag, and about 7 white L.E.D.'s shining straight down. I know Justintoxicated is kind of hard to miss at night. Other than that, I think it is almost impossible to find anyone by description alone. You end up seeing so many damn rails, bikes, quads, golf carts, truck, etc. etc., that they all begin to look the same after you first couple of hours there anyway. But, yeah, to make a long story short, I'm down for a meet-up. Let me know the place and time and I'll see if I can fit that in to my daily planner
  23. Sounds like a good time, but you seriously need to get everything in gear as of yesterday. It is going to take several chase trucks, each with about 2 spare parts for everything that you could possibly think of. This is a huge task to undertake, especially since not one person has ever raced something of this magnitude before. I know there is a certain ammount of prestige in racing the big daddy, but wouldn't it be better to start off with something on a more managable scale, say the Baja 500? I'm not trying to rain on anybodys parade here, I just think a team with no experience in Mexico racing might want to get their feet wet with something a little bit smaller. Either way, more power to you as to whatever you guys actually end up doing, I know that I would love to participate in that sport. Hell, who knows, when I finish school next semester, I just might be on one of the R+D engineers out there trying to figure out what the hell went wrong; you guys have your dreams and I have mine. At any rate good luck and I would like to see this pan out I think as much as you guys want to make it happen. Below are some links that I just quickly pulled up, maybe they will be of some help, www.score-international.com website is giving me issues no matter what computer I try, but at least the proper contact info is there. www.baja.net/articles/2001baja1000win.html www.score-international.com/ baja1000/images/04B1000entryForm.pdf
  24. It's about time that somebody started a thread that was within a reasonable time range. I mean, yeah I was getting excited to go to the dunes over thanksgiving in the late Sept., but there was no chance that it was going to stay at the top of the list for a couple of months. At any rate, I will be there either really late Thursday, or early Friday. I'm gonna try to meet up with Yamahammer. I am sure that I will see somone either on the hills, or at the bar, just gotta remember to bring some extra cash for the overpriced beer and 2hr wait time for chili-cheese fries at Bordmanville. I am thinking that we will be in the whereabouts of wash # 4, closer to the dunes, but still not too far away from the porta-potties.
  25. excellent NYUK, thanks
