Offhand does anybody know the size socket(s) you need to take off the swingarm pivot bolt with? I've got to put on this chain slider that I bought last year and the only thing holding me back is that I don't have a large enough socket to loosen up the bolt. Thanks in advance for the help, it save me from multiple trips to Sears, take it easy, thebloker

I managed to clock 4285 mph in a bowl at Glamis, and I had the picture to prove it. Something tells me that I think the GPS was having a fit that day, I think that I would have remembered going mach 7 in the sand.

I NEED A CR500 MOTOR and a 250r rolling chassis

Thats pretty sweet that you get to choose whatever you want. Do you guys have an allocated budget, or do you have to fund it yourself? We got $2000 for this project for Raytheon to design something that can be built for $2500 at a production of 5000 units, go figure. You ever heard of producing a prototype for less money than the actual production run cost? -
Right on, thanks for the info guys, I just like to have everything punched into the GPS before I leave. It's not like I have a month or so to get all of this data into my GPS

No, shit, you guys get toselect your own senior design project? I am assuming that you are a mechanical engineer; we had a small list of projects to choose from, and most of the projects blew. After I got switched around from several different projects, I got stuck on one that I didn't really want to do, and now several months in, all of the tech spec changed. How come you guys are getting such a late start? (well, at least for me, we started on this project a couple of months ago and it isn't supposed to be finished until May). -
Does anybody have a GPS location of the sand drags at Glamis? I was going through my GPS and updating important locations that I might want to check out this season becuase I either forgot to punch them in last year, or i didn't have a chance to get to them. Well, it just so happens that the sand drags didn't make it on there and I am having trouble finding a location for them on the net. Any help would be apprecieated, thebloker

well, I found out how to get the pipes on the cylinders, just let them sit for about a week and let them think they forgot about you. I went out to the garage today and when they wern't looking, I popped them right on. I think it was because it was cooler outside, I wasn't pissed off, or maybe an act of God, but they went on with no trouble at all. I see what you mean about the pipe springs though, it looks like there is a mile between the two places to put the hooks on. That task will be taken on at a later date, thanks for the help guys, Bloker

A couple of us are going to be at wash 4, should get there some time early Friday and we are staying through Sunday.

It is my understanding that painting them is what they are used for, that way you can have a custom paint job just the way you want it. Rather than starting out with a base color, you've got a clear base to start from.

I'll try the grab bar trick, but I am going to have to have an extra set of hands b/c I have a six pack rack on there. Gotta have something to cool off while I'm out crusin' I just think that it is out of control how hard it is to get these pipes on with the Yamaha rings on, I mean they get so close, yet still it's so far away. Maybe I'll have the old lady hold the bike while I prop it up. Afterall, I did buy her a quad, the least that she could do is make sure mine doesn't fall on me while I am putting on some new pipes. Anybody else got some suggestions? thebloker

I just switched my bike from pro-circuits that came with it, to Shearer inframe pipes. The Shearer's didn't come with o-rings, and the ones in the pro-circuits are unusable. I got the new o-rings for the pipes but now I can't get the pipes on. They slide right on without the gaskets, but when the gaskets are in place, it is almost impossible to fit them to the cylinder. I tried heating the pipes with the oring in place with a torch and it still would not slide all the way on. I am running out of ideas as to what to do. Has anybody had any expierence with this before, any input would be greatly apprecieated, I really would like to get these pipes on as soon as possible to try them out. Thanks for you help guys, thebloker

Sweet, I am going to ride twice as much and drink three times that, if that is all possible over a three day weekend. I just got around to attempting to put the shearer pipes on my quad, we'll see if I can get the pipes and cool head on in the next month or so; I'm not sure how may fingers I can spare busting on my frame. At any rate, we'll be there one way or another. Yamahammer I'll PM you my number tomorrow so we can meet up, I wouldn't miss this shit for the world. Oh, yeah, don't worry, you wont be the only ones being camping, we just bought a David Koresh compound tent at Sams Club, so in case anybody wants to ride inside, tickets are only three bucks.

We will be at wash 4, hoping that my friends truck doesn't get hit by some random 3-wheeler. I think that I still have your phone number. I'll post more info seeing as I am late for my lab class right now. All I can say is I cant f--ing wait for T-day at the dunes, I think my girlfriend is just as excited as me and she has only ridden a quad one time before. Hell of a place to start learning if I do say so.

I'll be at was 4 also, ended up picking up a Warrior for the lady, and some new pipes for the Banshee, now all I've got to do is put the thing back together and finally figure out what the hell is making it run like crap.

You might just have to cut the bearing out with a dremel, or even drill down the side of the case where the bearing sits. I couldn't get mine out and had to take it to a machine shop. I tried everything, heating while freezing the bearing, slapping it, pulling on it with everything I could imagine, and it just wouldn't budge. It eventually was cut out by drilling down the side of the case. Getting it back in was just as hard, I tried to freeze it with dry ice while heating the case and even that didn't work. Had to take it back to the shop to have them press it in and they didn't even get it all the way down. You would be surprised at how big of a pain in the ass that little roller bearing can be.

if you see fit chicks, what would you do to impres

you would would be shocked how little any female gives two shits about what you can do on a quad. I don't think any woman ever has been impressed by how far somebody could wheelie on anything. It is just a formula for disaster, someone trying to show off for a girl and in the end they just end up laughing at you because you wrecked right in front of them. Trust me on this one, my woman rides and she just really is thinking inside her head everytime somebody tries to pull off a stunt < "god I hope you wreck, you would look like such a tool" I am not trying to bring you down or anything, women do not really give a shit about this stuff; you may think that they do, but they don't. -
I think their simple lack of mastery of the english language plus their justification of pissing off hundereds of people is simply amazing. Think what would they would say if you did one thing to piss them off and simply told them it was an expression of art. Do you think that they would have the same understanding that they expect you to have for their piece of shit noise makers? Thank god I don't live in the ghetto is all I have to say.

that thing is so close to what the ghetto has, finally a bridge between the two, http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=bubbrubb.wmv

This thing would ba a bargin at twice the price, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=42610 and if I ever have the desire to figure out how to post a link, I will; but until that day just cut and paste

Go with the shearer's pipes, you can get them really cheap, I just picked up a set on ebay for 300 bucks.

At least the driver in front was courteous enough to use their turn signals. Im not sure how much the driving like an asshole negated the saftey aspect of the turn signals, but at least it was the thought that counts.

jesus yamahammer, you still have the blaster Actually I am looking into getting one for the lady, it is either a blaster for her, or I am going to have to buy either a 350x or 250r trike and hope one of two things doesn't happen. 1, shee tips the thing over and kills herself, of 2, I ride the trike and she ride the banshee. Either way it doesn't look good. By the way, what does one of those blasters go for out there, the market for those out here in arizona is kind of dry/overpriced. Oh. and by the way, I finally developed some of those pictures that I took last season over thanksgiving, let me know if you want any of them. You can actually see you head in one of them, and I think Chris as well, although I may be mistake on the name. Just trying to give you a little fix before dune season starts up again.

My lights went out last trip so I took off the wiring harness and got rid of all the extra wires. The quad is still backfiring though, and I have yet to get into that problem yet. I spen most of my time/ money saving up for our Vegas trips, although this summer we managed to fit in three, and that is one more than ususal. I will have the thing fixed by Thanksgiving though, one way or another. I like the idea of meeting by the olds on the right hand side, that place was perfect, you could see the hill but you were still far enough away to be easy to pick out from the rest of the madness.

Nope, I'm still around, although a virus had my computer down for a couple of months, so that kept me away for a while. Still working on the bike, actually it's more like every day I go outside, look at it, and then decide it's too damn hot to work on the banshee. Although, tonight I may actually make some progress; I just now have to find what the dogs did with my bucket of bolts. Either way I am gonna make it out there with at least 2 other people, hopefully more.
