Claude, for most of my cold weld repairs I prefer the original 2 part JB weld. It works very very well for most applications. I only deviate from that kind in two situations.

1) If I need something more solid for a dry apication I use one part JB weld stick weld. Example, filling a hole in an engine block overhead. Often, standard JB weld will slowly drip out of the hole creating a crevice.

2) if I am in a hurry like at a ride and need to patch a hole in a case and get back to riding I use the JB weld 2 part kwik set. It works very well but not quite as good as the original.

Nothing beats the original if you have the time to let it cure.

In the jetski world, it is usually either original JB weld or Devcon aluminum Liquid for filling case voids, extending sealing area, or for case porting.  The original JB Weld thins and pours nicely when warmed and is typically cheaper.  Just be sure to overfill the area a little as there will be shrinkage as the epoxy cures.

no there are multiples but the original works the "best" for this. but only works for a little while. if you have zero money in this sled then go for it.. but for patching a crank case id be tig welding it

What do you mean it only works for a little while?

petroleum breaks down jb weld after time. turns it into a play dough like substance.
