i finally got my fmf fattys on this week and went for a ride on some local trails. my jetting is close but my low to mid range has a bad bog which sucked in the trails. i had to ride mid 2nd the whole time. wot is spot on untill sometimes when i shift in 6th. i have fmf fattys and k&n pod filters. elevation is around 600 and i'm running 330 mains 25 pilots and 1.5 turns out on the air screw. the needle is on the fourth clip down. i did a plug chop and it looked good but was light. what do you guys think?

forgot to add i started at 310 mains and it was worse and wouldnt even get in power ban with air screws 2 out

did you do a WOT plug test to see what your plugs look like?

as for your bottom end, i would be running a 27.5 in that. almost every non-stock piped banshee ive ever seen required a 27.5 pilot.

i did do a plug chop and the ring around it was about half a dime thickness that was dark but maybe 4 dimes thick light brown about that. i hear that klotz leave lighter rings but it was light about the dark one. also my shee is stock besides the pipes and filters. my chops kinda says i'm on the leaner side but my jetting says richer for just being piped and filtered. should i come in on my air screws a lil?

I jetted in my bros bike with 27.5 pilots and 300 mains needle (middle clip) 3rd clip from pointed end. air screws were 2.5 turns out.

Mods were T-5, K&N pods and some TDR epoxy reeds on stock cages with stops.

Like Loco said.. I'd jump up the pilot.. and check needle position.

yeah, i kinda have the same low end bog that you have. i have same pipes too. i have 27.5 pilots in it now, needle on 4th clip from flat end, 2 turns on air screws, and the bog has gotten smaller. i'm going to try a 30 pilot today and see if the bog is gone totally. kinda weird, cause plugs show way rich (look like you dunked 'em in black paint), but the way it runs with that little bog tells a different story....especially how the bog is going bye bye when i'm richening things up. i forgot to say that i have 360 mains right now, but i'm also ported besides.

Kind of a stupid newbee question, but is a 25 pilot leaner than a 27.5? I kinda have the same little bog with 27.5 pilots, but it gets better when I backed the air screws out 3 turns. Wouldn't that mean I should put my 25 pilots back in? I am running T-5s K&N pods on stock motor at sea level on the dunes in Coos Bay. Thanks Oh, needle in middle position.

I had a bike with DG pipes, stock silencers, K&N pods and used Mossbarger reed cages.. and I could barely get the thing going with 27.5 pilots.. I put the air screws to 1 turn out and its alot better but it could use a 30 pilot. And this was after I did a leak down.. I still can't figure out why this thing needs a 30 pilot.... I guess it just goes to show ya that every bike is different.

well when i put my new plugs in and went wot and pulled them they didnt look real rich. they were normal light brown and i chopped them and the ring was normal just really light. i just rode it a little bit ago and tried pulling the choke open a little bit and it wanted to kill out. so if the 27.5's dont work out tomarrow i will have to play with my air screws

well, i tried a set of 30 pilots today and it got better. needle 1 clip richer than stock too. bog still there, but close to gone. i'm going to order some 32.5 pilots and try them this week. yeah, you ain't a kidding that every bike acts different......i wouldn't have thought that i would be richening the needles and going so big with the pilots, as most others on here don't need to perform this drastic of a change with their pilots.
