907banshee Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 please help i have a stock 1988 banshee and want to know what is better straight 110 octane or premix?!!!! Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 It all depends on the compression on your motor. Adding smaller domes or advancing timing will higher the compression, therefore, the need for race gas. As of right now, if you don't have much of that done to the bike you can run just regular gas without any benefit from race gas or mixing 50/50. Quote

jbooker82 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 110 octane is the yellow number on the gas pump. It is a rating on how much the fuel resists preignition. Regular fuel is 87 octane Premium fuel is 91-93 octane Race fuel ranges any were from 105 to 118 Premix is what is called when you have your oil mixed with your fuel. The oil is Premixed in the gasoline vs having an oil injector and just putting regular non mixed oil in the tank. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Pump gas is usually 93 octane that you can buy at the normal mini marts and gas stations. Usually the premium gas. 110 octane is race gas, and a banshee doesn't need that until the compression gets higher to help prevent detonation.\ It can be purchased at ATV shops, hot rod shops, drahstrips, etc. In your case, just use the good preium pump gas from a gas station until you choose a cool head and dome. When you do that, the size of the dome will decide what gas is needed... Quote

TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Yamaha recommends 24:1 I believe with their Yamalube You will be ok with 32:1, 36:1, 40:1 with any good 2 stroke oil. I use Klotz Supertechniplate. Many others do as well. Castor 927 is another popular oil Good luck and stick with Premium pump gas Quote
LS1Inferno Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 yeah the most common mixture is 32:1 and i used to use castor 927 but i switched to the mobile 1 fully synthetic from autozone i like it better. but as said earlier anything above 91 Octane is a waste for a stock banshee Quote
BURRITO Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 40:1 Torco GP7 with 110oct Thats what my ride gets every trip... Quote
