rb0804 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 i just installed the shearers huge difference in power from the previous pipes. i purchased mine direct and didnt have any problems with fit or finish. i can actually adjust my left carb without having to take it off (it was all jacked up into the pipe before). mercury65 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 i put a set on my ported 03 and i still cant belive how long the power band is, i had t5 before and i can say they do give a little on the bottom/ come on a little later, they pull so much more rpm's, i dont agree with many here on low end. higher rpm's = more power period. if i wanted low end i would ride a 4 poker. the fit on mine were not so good, when i look at my bike from the rear one pipe is lower then the other, that i did not like but after a few rides they were well worth the bad fit. no leeks, chrome is good, dont think i would run any other pipe, IMO the cpi's have a funny looking shape, but i also dont like the look of cut fenders. bottom line i would never give up the rpm's these pipes give, for a little bottom end no way. just wnated to add, you can go down 1 sprocket in the front and still go the same speed in any gear vs the t5. going down 1 sprocket will give you better pull and the pipes give you back the speed. more rpm's = more power. i have a video of 185 lbs me on my 03 racing my 125 lbs son on my 04 with the t5 on it i missed a shift and still took the 04 by 3-4 bikes, let me know if u want to see the video. KEVSWS6 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Cascade has some very nice Shearers. The chrome is outstanding. Now if Sand Toyz is doing the same thing I would go with them. Haven't seen a pair from them yet but John is a top notch guy. If says they are good you better believe they will be. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Jons chrome isnt like Cascades. But the price is MUCH lower with Jons Quote

TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 I was doing some research and I came up with a few conclusions... 1. Most of these pipes come right from the factory not fitting right. The left side doesn't clear the head, or other things at that. A bad thing. 2. They keep pulling, but come on much later than the CPI. That's a bad and a good thing. 3. As of now, Cascade would have the only Shearer I would put on my bike until I see others, and hear other feedback, from Jon's. 4. They leak alot. I did a search, and read alot of pages... 95% of people complained about leaking. Another bad thing. 5. You never know what you are going to get. If ordered from Cascade, quality can be good. But others have got them with no o-rings, etc. As much as I would love the pipe, there isn't much positives in me getting it. It comes on latr than the CPI, and that is not good. They leak which I would tweak about. Not fitting would be bad. The CPI is a much better fit for me I think. I would lose alot of power in the range that I need it if I went with Shearers. No timing adjustments would clear it up if they come on as late as most claim. So now I am officially decided on getting the CPI. Bikes with similar mods, and a bike with CP and Shearer, the race would come down to the rider. That's a good thing too. The only thing I will have to do with CPI's is cut the front fenders, which I was going to down the road eventually anyways. Thanks everyone for your input... I appreciate it. Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Why not just keep the Trinitys and spend the money else where? Is a little more top-end worth it? Just asking, cause I have the Trinitys also and have been happy with them. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Why not just keep the Trinitys and spend the money else where? Is a little more top-end worth it? Just asking, cause I have the Trinitys also and have been happy with them. I would like some input on where "elsewhere" would be on my bike... nothing else I can do. I love them, I really do. But if you think they pull as hard as other pipes, you are wrong. They pull hard but not as hard as others. I am looking for a pipe that pulls hard on top, but still gives some mid power to get me started on hills. I am very upset because all other pipes are going to suck because they are chrome... this pipe is so nice. I wish other companys would do this with stainless. CPI is a good fit. I can get a good chunk of change for my trinity's, so I wreally wouldn't be spending money. Edited August 12, 2008 by TeamRealtreeHD Quote
tedd1 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 The flanges? As in what connection, the exhaust port out of the jugs or the connection where they meet the silencers? I don't want leaky pipes. I get very minor leakage where the pipes plug onto the head. I did not put silicone there, only the o rings and the pipes have been taken off and put back on several times using the same o rings. I wipe everything down and clean up the whole bike after every ride so it's not a problem. I guess I got lucky because mine fit very well. Again, no spacing anywhere. Kevin supplied all the parts for my cub. He recommended Shearers........ Rick Quote

But if you think they pull as hard as other pipes, you are wrong. They pull hard but not as hard as others. I was thinking $uspension, atleast that will be my next BIG purchase. And I know our Trinity pipes are no CPI or Shearers but they do outpull FMF's, Pro Circuit's, Toomy T5 & T6's, and that what a majority of the banshees I come across have around here. I am very upset because all other pipes are going to suck because they are chrome... this pipe is so nice. I wish other companys would do this with stainless. I'm with ya there, biggest selling piont for me. F#CK chrome, gimme stainless and billit all the way. ...anyway, good luck. Let me know how it works out for ya. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 Kevin recommended the Shearers too... but he did say the CPI's would be a good alternative if Shearers were not chosen. I believe they suit me better with the mid power they offer, but still are a drag pipe, so they have the top end. I am not a lucky guy. When it comes to hunting, or fishing, I'll get a buck every year or get a big fish very often. But with vehicles, no... I will get Shearers, they will leak all over the place, they won't fit, etc. I love how they look though, I think the head pipes themselves are a sweet curving piece of art. And the silencers are pretty neat too. But if they will take away from my low-mid power, which isn't a ton right now... but enough to get a start at the bottom of these hills out here and then get on the top end... I doubt the Shearers can give me what I am looking for. I need a pipe that will pull like an SOB in a drag race against my buddys... but also a pipe that doesn't rob me blind everywhere but the top. The CPI is a good candidate. The trinity's are good, they really are. I love them. In fact, I might end up keeping them. pabansheematt and xXBlessedWithDeathXx are right down the road and own CPI's. If they would be nice enough to let me rip for a minute or 2 with their CPI inframes, I will know if I will either keep the Trinity's or make the switch to CPI's Quote
