1quickshee Posted July 3, 2008 Author Report Posted July 3, 2008 nah. I got another banshee did i tell you? looked just like your drag one. I found some other kid that wants to trade me for the 450r 2 is better then one Nah hes got pipes, port job and pistons but on stock bore Quote
skylor Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Compression test is always a good idea to make sure it isn't gonna blow up. Check the wheel bearing by movin the tires back and forth. don't skimp on looking it over like a did turned out my axel was screwed up. I'm sure theres more things but other will help too I'm sure. Keyser Soze Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 If its a shee its been ragged on. Thats what I bought mine for. Just depends on how its taken care of. One thing that I didnt check before I bought mine was the tire rod ends, strearing stem, U joints and most of that bit me in the butt. I was so happy with the way it ran, little junk like that tho just nickled and dimed me to death. Quote
bansheesmoke Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Ask him if you can do a compression test and if the bikes fine then he shouldnt disagree to it. Do a compression test. See if its hard to start warm or cold. and when you have the plugs out look at them hopfully there not white...unless there new. Ask him what the jetting is. TEST RIDE IT!! ask him about how many hours are on the topend..or if its stock how many hours are on the bike. I got kinda screwd over when I bought my banshee...I didnt check the compression or ask him about jettting. HE WAS RUNNING STOCK MAIN JETS WITH T5'S NO JOKE. I almost burned my banshee up the day after I got it. Just some ideas.... Hope this helps. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 I agree with everythnig here... don't feel like a goof looking over the whole bike. I usually loook at the cosmetics, then I go over little stuff like the bearings and seals. Then I would definately push the kicker or do a comp. test. Alot of guys want to sell a banshee because it is losing the compression and ready to go = they are too lazy to do the top end. Then they sell it. Just check that out maybe, and I would check the chain, and definately stuff like the axle and a-arms for signs of being bent... And oh yes.... take it for a burn! Quote
dajogejr Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Sell the 450 outright, buy the banshee and you'll have extra cash... Why not build the banshee you have to the gills, keep the 450 for trails and fun....? Quote

I hate to agree with him but its true.Banshee aint no fun in our riding spots. To much mud and water. And all the REAL street racing has completely stopped for now.So right now I see no point in a banshee unless you wanna build it to set a goal and stare at it.Maybe it will get hot again when christmas comes back but nobodys been racing recently.you do want it to build it right? Titan up Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Sell the 450 outright, buy the banshee and you'll have extra cash... Why not build the banshee you have to the gills, keep the 450 for trails and fun....? Exactly what I was gonna say. Having a Banshee and a 450 is the best of both worlds. Quote
mdhc500 Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 This is all good stuff... Just look around when you go to look at it. Look at the guys other cars, bikes, quads, and house. If he is smart he will have the Banshee all bright and shiney, but look and see how he takes care of his other stuff... Also ride it and see how it rides... Compression Check if he will let you, ask about what pre-mix he runs, about the jetting and see if it matches the setup (i.e. Pipes, Air Filter, Reeds, etc...) look at the plugs, chain, sprockets, check suspension, bushings, check the tranny fluid, coolant level in the radiator and reservoir, etc... If its a piece of crap you will be able to tell... Good luck... Quote
250Rho Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 best way i know is to look er over real good then when you test ride it run the ever livin hell out of it and keep your eys and ears open for nouise and broken parts sry splng sks i hate lap top keyboarss Quote
