Shifted up only! then jammed####

I was on for maybe 4 minutes went up the road whaccked it and it would only then shift up and not down. then i pulled off the clutch basket and now it wont break free. the lever does move freely but it does not catch at all. let me know this petty shit is hurtin me thanks

have you tried messing with the shift linkage, it may have gotten bound up or off track and only allowing you to go up...maybe that will help

did you check the shifter rod??see if it pushed all the way back in....you might just have jamed it and when you pull the clutch basket off you may have free it...that happen to me...if not you may have bent it.........

im sure you broke off the bottom piece of the shift shaft. It makes a c shape and it always breaks off. piece of shit. Everyone should carry a spare

If the shift drum wont turn, it sounds like the forks may be messed up

or the trans shafts are in a bind and wont let the forks move. :shrug:

Can you rock the quad back and forth?

what gear is it jammed in? if its fifth you could have locked up the gear on the input shaft. the dog ears on the gears jam when this happens.

Did you try turning it with something other than the shifter??? (channel locks, etc.) If the external shift mechanism is bent it may not move far enough to actually "click" the drum all the way into the next gear. What happens exactly when you try to down shift..is there play in the shifter, or is it firm?

Surely it's not the forks on a stock tranny, but who knows.

I think that it was in 4th when it would no longer shift while riding. then i shut it off and i may have clicked it up once but not possitive. the shifter its self does move up and down. does not feel like its engaging or ne thing but will move up and down not in a something snapped matter" thanks guys but im mindboggled.
