Midway USA Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Any one running Bosch Platinum in their Banshee? If so what number? I have a .020 over stock Banshee with aftermarket carbs and exhaust. What Bosch Platinum works with this combination? I have fouled a few plugs here and there and a friend told me if I ran Bosch Platinum plugs I would not have this problem any more. I did several searches on this forum and on google but never came up with a definite answer. Thanks in advance for any help. Quote
jbooker82 Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 the reasoin why your fouling plugs is because your jetting is off or your running way to much oil. Changeing plugs is no the solution to keep from fouling plugs. I run all year on a set of standard ngk b8es. If your dead set on trying a different set of plugs try NGK BR8EIX it is a fine center iridium electrode plug. Quote

It hasn't fouled any plugs the last two times I went to ride. The weekend it did foul it was 45 degrees out and I had my kid on with me putting around the trails. The guy I bought it from supposedly has a jet kit, stock carbs, and exhuast that he is going to give me. If I can get the jet kit I will try to lean it down a little and go from there. Thanks for the reply. Quote
Animalman294 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I just run the NGK - BR8ES............. Quote

turbostang52 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 yeah dont run german plugs ina japenese engine..please... SOOOOO TRUE! I admit I'm very new to banshees as I've only had mine for a month but I'm a mechanic for Toyota and I wouldn't run bosche plugs in anything! What a total garbage plug. They have caused so many misfires in toyota's it's not even funny. Stick with NGK's. Quote
dajogejr Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 It's not the fact that it's German...it's the fact the Bosch Platinum has a TEENY, Tiny electrode which can get dirty and foul easier. Some of the fastest and best bikes out run the standard run of the mill BR8ES or BR9ES plus... Quote

Some of the fastest and best bikes out run the standard run of the mill BR8ES or BR9ES plus... 4016 is the plug. My GasGas bud at the local Yamaha shop hooked me up with it. Still need to jet it down. What jets do I need? I have a fairly fresh .020 overbore, aftermarket Mikuni carbs, FMF Gold series pipes and FMF Power Core II mufflers. I am running 32:1 mix of Yamalube 2R. I had the carbs apart but was in a hurry to get it running and didn't look at the jetting sizes. I know bad, bad!! It seems to bog a little off idle but when it hits the power band it runs great. I live in Eastern Kansas with lots of humidity, if that helps. Edited May 6, 2008 by Midway USA Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 careful with the Bosch plugs. They tend to have a higher resistance so the coil has to work harder to do the same amount of work. They have also been known to take out coils. I wouldn't run a Bosch if you paid me... Just my .02 cents... Quote
