Ok just fishing for opinions, hopefully this is visible enough for now... I'm going out to do a plug chop here in a little while so I'll post that too but for now I just wanted to see what you guys though of this?

It's so close you can't really tell the color but it's a chocolate brown on the DARK side.

Was that a new plug that you ran from 1st -5th/6th? Your plugs should not look like that after one run, that is extremely rich if it is!

How did you go about doing your plug chop?

Posted

No that wasn't an attempt at a plug chop, I just went out and really ran it for the first time and checked the plug. I'm doing a plug chop later today or tomorrow. I figured it looked rich.

It was kind of falling on it's face a little up at WOT and the top of the gear, that tends to indicate "rich" correct?

Oh ok, my bad,lol.

Warm the bike up on those plugs, then switch to your new plugs and go out for a run!

yeah I think it is probably rich on one or more of the circuits. I always have trouble because it matters where or how I am riding. Cause if im not able to get on it all the time I might mainly be riding on the needle circuit and then when I shut it down that is what is showing the most. But based on what I have read and done, you should look at the metal ring around it not the ceramic and it seems like it has a good over all jetting.

Dont know if that really helps anything, but a plug chop will tell you for sure.

Hey Tate, here is what mine looked like after riding with you today for a comparision...

This was also after a lot of WOT runs on the pavement

Had fun, we'll have to ride again soon!

Yeah thanks for coming over man! I think I might be safe coming down 1 size but I'm going to go out and run a plug chop today on some fresh plugs and see where it's really at.

I'll post the results.

Ok so did the plug chop and I'm pretty dern close to being right on. I could probably go down a size on the main and probably be ok. My left cylinder (left plug) is a bit rich so I think I need to mess with something but not sure. I have a feeling the left air filter might still be a little clogged with fresh oil or something causing it to be rich.

whachya think?

you could go down a size on the main but if there is no noticeable bogging than that should be good

Yeah the only bogging I need to dial in is on the bottom end (needle) and it's a little hard to start sometimes. Other than that it pulls really well on the 3/4 to full throttle.

as long as it's smooth 3/4 to full throttle, don't drop the main any more. play it safe and stay on the rich side.

I think that looks perfect Tate!! I wouldn't change them! As far as the hard starting, do you still have the 25 pilots in there? I stepped mine up to the 27.5 and it cured my hard starting problem.
