njbanshee Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 i'd like to know the answere to that one too? Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 last year I put a piece of rubber between the pipe mount and the peg. this year I just double nutted the bolt and left it alittle loose so the pipe can move and not break the mount. Quote
Stellar Performance Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 You always want to use some kind of rubber mount. I have busted both aluminum and steel mounts. Metal Tech offers a nice rubber pipe mount for $18.00 each. And if your pipe mounts do not line up properly with your foot pegs, go buy some 1"x1/8" Flat bar and cut it to the length needed. Drill 2 holes and a quick paint job. You could de it with aluminum and polish it...but I keep finding the aluminum to end up cracking. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I use stock front pipe hangers, angle them as neccesary. On my CPIs, they stick out quite a bit...so, I measured the gap, cut a piece of copper tubing, put a washer on either end, long bolt and lock nut. Rubber is key...it's gotta have flex. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Rico Suave....I can take a pic of my ad hoc pipe mounts at home, if you like....they're hanging in my rafters... Quote
bigboybanshee Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I used 1/4" flat steel, bent it as needed to make the pipes line up and drilled two holes in each brace, and used two rubber grommets on each bolt for cushion. If you look at the inside of the pipes you can see the little brackets Quote
theshee Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I did stuff similiar to travis. Used aluminum strap to the footpeg, with rubber on both ends where they mount for cushion. worked really well... Mine were both out one side though so I only had to have one. RDZ has a really good rubber mount Rob sends with the pipes for the mount too... Quote
kawiking Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 i need to fig. something out, i e-mailed cpi and they said they sell just the brackets for $28.i do need some good rubber mounts for sure. i love the sound of oof's.... !!! Quote

dajogejr Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 is ur bike still apart , dave ??? Oh yea.... but I left the hangers on the CPI pipes. I'll be running the Shearers for sand/strip. I only put the CPI on because I didn't want a metal stud to chew through my nice Chrome Shearers. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Rico ever heard of Fastenal, they have everything just tell them what you need or your idea and they can whip something up for ya. Quote

I'm running all of mine without any rubber support..no problems so far, but haven't ridden any of then much. Quote
