downNdirty Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 A friend of mine bought the bike back in 03 as a leftover 02. He rode it a few times. Rode it like a baby. Wouldnt ride through puddles or mud hell I was told he never got past 3rd gear. So after about 10 hours maybe of time on the bike he parked it. Till I bought it Sept of 07. He would start it up once in awhile. Took it to the dealer to have the bike serviced and the carbs needed to be cleaned because at one point it sat for over a year without starting. So I gave him 2500 for it. Why did I pick a Banshee? Seriously I really like the look of a Banshee. And I knew someone years ago that had a Banshee and said it was one of the best bikes he has ever riden..... Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Yall are gonna freak out when yall read how i got mine. It started with a friend of mine selling a YZ125 for 800 bucks well after almost killing myself getting on it drunk every now and then i seen my other friend on myspace selling his 2004 banshee for 2500 bucks. I wrote him a message thinking he wouldn't do this but i said i'll trade you a YZ125 for it straight up. He ended up coming to my house rode it a little bit and then traded with me title for title. So there i had a 2004 banshee for 800 bucks with title....lol I've know that guy since i was 7 years old though he's a good friend of mine. But it's crazy!!! Quote
Fireroad Express Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 started buying parts off here , Ebay and some other site  . didn't have a frame yet, just started buying miscellaneous parts. pipes, a stroker crank, intakes, carbs, etc. after a few months, i finally found an add for a J-arm banshee in the paper.i wanted an a- arm frame but figured the "J" would make a good parts bike. i drove way the hell out in the middle of nowhere to pik it up. i checked out the bike and it wouldn't start. (obviously a basket case.) the guy selling it ,was going back to school and needed the money fast.i told the guy i'd take it. he mentioned he also had a few left over parts to go with it. so i got the complete j-arm banshee, 2 a-arm frames, another J-arm frame, a set of rims and tires, a set of pro-circuit pipes, and two boxes full of extra parts , for about $1700. it was quite a trailer load! i sold everything i didn't want and used the money towards upgrades and performance parts for the build.i picked the best of the two A-arm frames and started construction.the engine turned out to be badly trashed, with one squeaked piston and a few teeth missing on the front gear set in the trans .this is an expensive way to build a banshee, but you sure learn alot in the process! oh yeah, major props are owed to the "BHQ" and its members for answering my questions and making good deals on parts. i appreciated the extra effort and trust it took to ship parts accross the border to canada. it made the build go a hell of alot easier and cheaper! anyway, heres a pic of where it all started..... steenasbanshee Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 bought both my banshees on impulse at dealers. i had a hard time finding any in my area and i would often check a local dealer and oddly enough i walked in and they had one that just came in a few days earlier sitting outside, bought it right there. the 2nd one i bought on impulse also. after i sold the 1st one a few years ago i found this site and wanted to get into this recreation again. i couldn't find anything local until i searched the net. found one that was pretty close, i went a few days later telling myself "im just gonna look", lol, after i started it and rode it around the lot i became intoxicated and took it home Quote
scooter6101982 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 i bought a 01 raptor off my cousin that needed a starter clutch got the raptor for 1200. i wanted to fix it sell it make money on it but the tranny started goin 1st gear not the the typical 1st. so traded it for a 99 banshee that was all stock had it about 1 and half months and blew it up now its got some work done and ill never go again with out owning atleast one banshee if not many Quote
jamebo Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Bought mine close to the end of 05. I had always wanted a Banshee, and one day my Dirt wheels magazine came in and had an article in it saying that they would no longer be available after the 06 model year. Now, I've grown up riding 2 & 4 strokes,..... but there ain't nothing like a two stroke coming on the pipe, and I knew a twin 2-stroke had to really be wild! My wife was very supportive of me when I found a good deal on one at a dealership. I had never ridden one, but discovered the light switch powerband when I went to drive it through the parking lot to my trailer. Went to take off and I guess it was still a little cold and bogged down a little. After doing this twice I decided to really give it some gas so it would go,...... and boy did it! It stood up and snatched my hands off the bars and I came real close to busting my tail right in the dealership parking lot! I've had it a little over two years now and I'm still crazy about my Shee! ClimbAnyHill Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 I got it from the Repo Man. I guess payments hadn't been made for a while. She was found stashed in a garage! Then I came along and bought it. First thing i did was buy new wheels and paint the T5's. Here's a pic and the sig shows what shee looks like now a days. The motor has also changed since then  Quote
SHOWTIME Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Yeah...climb any hill...it looks just a little different now! Well I used to ride a 1992 LT 250R. Probably one of the nicest ones around, but it wasn't a banshee My bro and my dad both bought banshees and did alot of work on them. My LT had a ton of gnarly work done to it, so it would keep up with them lol. Problem is that I didnt want to keep up with them, I WANTED TO BEAT THEM!!! So i sold the LT and got a freaken sweet deal on the shee. No regrets...I love it!!! Heres a pic of the LT: Heres a pic of the shee: Quote

I had a buddy with a LT500 with motor work and it still wouldnt really run with my bike. It was fast but in a drag Id tear his ass up. He had Duncan I think port it. Fun to ride though. Had alot of TQ. Quote

dragbanshee Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Well after having an 88, 98 and 03 I thought I could live without one, so I bought a rhino, well you all know how a 4 stroken rhino runs or can imagine, not quite your speed demon. After a couple months I just couldnt handle it any more, started lookin for a cheap fixerup and found this all stock 97 from a dealer for 1800. I have almost totally redone the bike with parts from you guys and ebay. Its pretty cool that every time a Banshee gets sold, BansheeHQ gets a new member! AWSOME SITE  Quote
