rubberneck Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Well, I had assumed that I leaned her out and blew a hole in a piston becuase it dropped like 35 degrees at night and we went riding. Well got her torn down this week and I dont think thats my problem LOL check it out. This happened so quick, and really didn't make that much noise, i just assumed piston not thrown rod. Im not sure if the rod let go and that caused the crank to separate, or vise versa, but crank is separated quite a bit and im assuming blown out of phase. All I need to do now is get everything cleaned up, do some work on a couple of spots inside the case where the rod marked it up and then I can start putting her back together. Have a 4mil long rod crank trued and welded going back in with a cub top end. 39PWKs with billet bowls and shearer inframes. Cant wait to feel the power. Quote
rubberneck Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 Oh yeah, and that pile of molten crap, I believe is what is left of the rod bearing. I found that rattling around inside the pipe.LOL Quote
shovelhead Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Holy shit! ....oh well, you know you wanted more power anyway! LOL Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Nice work!! That connecting rod will make a good addition to the trophy drawer. Quote
rubberneck Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 Holy shit! ....oh well, you know you wanted more power anyway! LOL True that. I had planned on tearing her down after the summer anyway and building a new motor. This just rushed my plans. Quote

rubberneck Posted March 8, 2008 Author Report Posted March 8, 2008 whats the big deal? nothing some WD-40 and Duct Tape cant fix. slap it back together and your ready to hit the dunes! im a portagee, we use bailing wire on everything. duct tape is too high tech and expensive. lol Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 You guys get wire!?! we still get twine! Holds alot of stuff on the farm together! Quote
rubberneck Posted March 8, 2008 Author Report Posted March 8, 2008 You guys get wire!?! we still get twine! Holds alot of stuff on the farm together! The twine is what i use for non-critical fastening jobs. You need the wire for critical stuff like suspension parts, engine components and frame mending. LOL :yelrotflmao: Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 multi purpose as hell! So what cha gona do with your jugs? Quote
rubberneck Posted March 8, 2008 Author Report Posted March 8, 2008 multi purpose as hell! So what cha gona do with your jugs? Keeping the jugs. They are on stock bore and actually didn't get scarred up. i think i could hone them and reuse. Honestly, I dont know if i am going to like the CUB. I dont drag race, I just want a hot duner. If i dont like the cubs, i am going to send the stockers off to be dune ported for my 4mil crank and sell the cubs. I just wanted to try the cubs, plus, they are available right now. It seem that most of the porters have quite a backlog of work right now, and i am in a bit of a hurry. If i do like the cubs, i will probably have them dune ported for stock stroke and throw them on my bros bike. Quote
