Well, I have to store my Shee outside. :( I've tested the coolant, it's supposed to be good to -25. It's been around -30 here a couple days this winter, and I'm kind of worried about my coolant. It's fine now, it's not frozen or anything, but then again it's only about -10 today. I'm just kind of worried that it might have frozen before, and then thawed again. If I did freeze, how can I go about finding out for sure? And if it did freeze before, what would it hurt?

when it freezes it expands and typically will crack metal.. (cyls, rad) if you lucky it might not actually crack things.. just try to mix it so you get max level of protection.. then cover it with a tarp and or blanket to help with windchill factors..

You can add A little more atifreeze to it and that will help a bunch. but if you want to ad some insurance to it go to A hardware store and get some heat tape put around the engine and plug it in thats pretty extreme! but you could sleep at night. LOL

put a blanket or whatever over it and get a heat lamp or simple light bulb it will provide some heat to stop total freezing.

like other said just drain it. works also.

Your confused on wind chill factor. Wind chill is the acceleration of a objects temperture to the ambient air temperture.

Some times when you antifreeze is good to -25 it wont actually freez solid. It might get some reall thick and have some Ice crystals form but it wont freeze solid. You could just drain a little out by taking a cylinder bolt out and then add some straigh antifreeze.

if you're not running it at all, just drain it. if you don't want to drain it, at least take the cap off of the radiator. if it does freeze at all the ice will expand and that's what cracks things. if you relieve some of the pressure by leaving the cap off at least the coolant will not build pressure so bad and will have somewhere to push out rather than crack something. it's like a bottle of water in the freezer. if you leave the lid on it it will crack the bottle, if not it just swells up a little or pushes out.

I've left straight water is my banshee by accident over the winter and the worse thing to happen was some asshole trying to kick it over and broke the plastic impeller gear. No motor damage at all. It get REAL cold her too.
