MarineNYC Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I need a new drivetrain. What do you guys recomend? Should I stay away from that sidewinder set up? Quote
suzuki2903 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 i need a new chain and sprockets too. normally i would use sunstar sprockets on my motocross bikes and a renthal chain but what recommended for banshee's? what tensile strength should i look for? ty ty Quote
brugal Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Sidewinder are said to be the best, and most expensive. When you change the chain you should change the sprockets also. The only time I heard of somebody breaking one of those chains was on a bike with a mountain of horse power. For the most part it should be the last chain you'll ever buy. locogato11283 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 dude, i have been running primary drive sprockets for years. ive run them on stock stroke motors, 4mm and now my 10mm. 7 bucks i think for a front and 15 for a rear. i use DID atv chain. never had an issue and i pound on my bike when im hillclimbing. you can get them at RMATV. ClimbAnyHill Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Sounds like loco asnswered your question. I would say as long as they're steel sprockets. I got the JT front for $5 & run the DID as well. I wasn't sure what gearing I wanted for the rear so decided to wait. It backfired at Glamis this weekend. Chain started skipping at the drags, ended up at KD Cycles for a new one $45 Quote

I should have told you that I also use Primary Drive sprockets and their Xring chain from RMATV. Quote
MarineNYC Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 So alloy sprockets suck? Whats the advantage of alloy vs steel. Quote
lonestar Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 I think all depends if you ride in sand with paddle tire's with a high output motor start worrying about chains. 1 year ago called sidewider wanted 365.00 tri-moly just for the chain. 140.00 rear sprocket tri-moly, front sprocket 47.00 you gotta be kidden. That's $582.00 their outta there minds. Quote
Michael Jackson Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 rocky mountain ,primary drive all the way, $7 for a front, $20 for a rear (steel of course) Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 So alloy sprockets suck? Whats the advantage of alloy vs steel. Steel will last, you'll shred the alum in the sand. Look what happends to steel, just imagine alum ones. Quote
Michael Jackson Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 ive seen a couple of those $60-70 renthal rear alloy sprockets get destroyed within days by a piped raptor 700, i would never use them Quote
lonestar Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 If your mind is set on saving weight & you deside to go alum PBI is the best that I've tryed. Last the longest Quote
