civicfrk1 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Share Posted November 18, 2007 My banshee has FMF fatty with powercore silencers. boost bottle. 280 mains. no airbox lid stock filter today it started running like shit. and its backfiring from the right side only. but it does this alot. and there was a bit of sand in the plastic tube that leads to my carbs from the airbox. wasnt alot though. i took apart my carbs and the bowls are clean , no sand , i cleaned it all up and turned it on and it was backfiring like crazy from the right side. My right side spark plug looks a bit richer than my left one , my left one actually looks perfect.and the right one looks black. i think that the air/fuel screws might be a BIT differnt but barely. maybe by like /4 turn if that. Check to see if the vent tube that connects the stock carbs together is in place. I had the same problem a long time ago.......dicked with it forever. Ended ub being that the vent tube between the carbs was not seated all of the way, letting more air into one of the carbs. It backfired alot, and surged wuite a bit also. When you cleaned your carbs, did you just spray carb cleaning into them, or did you actually use compressed air afterwards to blow everything out? I always give my carbs a heavy spray down with carb cleaner, then take a air nozzle with a rubber tip on it to blast out all of the vents, jets, etc. That has always worked for me. Coupelx Posted November 18, 2007 Report Share Posted November 18, 2007 (edited) You are going to probably dismiss this as not likely but i would be willing to bet that your head gasket (or in my case, an o-ring) is blown, however slight. the plug on the culprit cylinder, no to mention my brand new dome, looked exactly as you say. after looking into this to make sure i wasnt going to have a this happen again i ran across several people who had this problem and kept pulling their hair out over it. how is your coolant? it doesnt have to necessarily be using any but pull the cap off and kick it over/start it up and see if the water bubbles alot. the tube that AZCUSTOM is talking about is actually the choke tube and bad things happen when its not connected Edited November 18, 2007 by Coupelx Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think my only option is either a headgasket, like mentioned above , or that hole , or my carburetor is just fucked up beyond repair because ive basically taken it apart twice and it seems perfectly normal. would the float heigh affect this?
