I just put the bike together. Installed new pistons, rings, cool head and jet kit. Started on the 3rd kick

BUT, when I was cleaning out the crank I put about a quart of regular oil on the crank so it would runst. It sat for a week or two. I forgot to dump it out before installing pistons, cylinders, etc. I ran it for aboout 5 min and it smokes like crazy. Less at the end. The plugs are all oily. I hope I'm not the person stupid enough to do this :banghead:

How do I get the oil out?

Will it burn out throught the exhaust when going through the break in/heat cycles?

Should I take the pipes off and tip the bike forward with the piston all the way up and it might come out one side at a time??? CHIT

I just want to know if it will blow out any seals, etc...DAMAGE ANYTHING

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i wouldnt have put the oil in there in the first place , but it should be fine if you run it. just change the plugs once it stops smoking, if they dont foul before then.

might be a good idea to clean the carbon off the head after burning all that oil

wow, i dont know what to tell you. Ill be keeping an eye on this post to see what the pros say....

You could get a mighty vac type deal and run the hose through your intake and through the holes in your pistons and try to suck it out....

Holysh%&. You wanted to make sure that crank was lubed huh? Well, since you have already run it, I would do what is about and run it out and change the plugs. Also checking the carbon after is not a bad idea either but should not carbon up in that short amount of time. That usually takes higher engine temps and prolonged oil use. You will not hurt the bottom end or blow any seals but I bet the neighbors will love you.

get a mighty vac at your major part store. pull the carbs off and put a small vacuum hose through the piston into the crank and pump the oil out. If you burn it out you load your silencer packing full of oil and after a while under heat could become flammable.

Or you could pull the top end back off and stick rags in there to soak the oil up.

When I did mine I dumped some Klotz in there. than soaked it up before install.

ok first off your a tard for putting 10w30 in there, you dont need to put anything how ever on new cranks its not a bad idea to pour a little PREMIX oil on the bearings for the rods. do your self and that motor a favor and take it aprat and drain it out and flush it. that oil is not ment to be burnt up like premix. your going to make huge deposits of carbon and probly shorten the life of the motor by being lazy. open her up and fix it and just be done with it.

Yes, it's 10w30. Thanks for the input everyone. Any more? Is there a way to clean the carbon off the head without taking it off?

Yeah, it's about 10:30 PM here and I was running this thing. Looks like a fog swept in.

haha some people pay good money to get exhaust flamethrower kits put on their cars

unless you let it burn all the oil out you shouldnt have much carbon. if for did let it burn all off and have alot of deposits you can try cleaning it off with a green scotch brite pad but its going to take alot of elbow greae to break it free.

Carbon build up is from combustion of the gas, more so than oil.

sorry bro but i have to shoot you down on this... burning oil makes carbon build up 100 times faster then gas ever will. there are more minerals and junk inside of the oil that wont fully burn off.

I agree. You are going to have replace your packing in your exhaust now. and it is gonna smell like burnt oil for a long time. Have you ever seen what burnt oil looks like on a roller bearing??? it gums it up and creates hot spots.

I don't doubt that one bit  . But in a Banshee engine, I would think that the carbon that is on the pistons is more from the gas than the 32:1 oil. 4-pokes have tons or carbon on their pistons also (unless the jetting is on the lean side, or 100% perfect.)

Also, I would think that in this case, some of the oil would escape unburnt, reducing the possibility of deposits. I could be completely wrong on this, however :shoothead: .

Any other opinions?

Yeah...

Take the pipes off, tip the bike on it's front end and remove the spark plugs, kick it over and get that oil out.

You guys ever hear of hydrolocking a motor? I realize it'll burn...it could also pop a crank seal, etc...

Get that shit out. We all make mistakes, just tip it up an kick the bike over without plugs for a few minutes to try and get as much of you can out of there....
