jaredvh Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I pulled the caps and what I believe is the spark arrestors off of my stock pipes today just for fun. It sounded really cool and seemed to be more peppy too. Now, what I'm wondering is if it is alright to run my banshee like this? Is it going to start a fire?? Quote
dekker Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Honestly its not gonna give you any more performance. And unless some freak thing occurs you are not gonna start a fire. Quote

It sounded pretty neat, and I thought I noticed more performance but maybe it being louder just made me think that. :ermm: Quote

The spark arrestors in the stock pipes are located at the front of the silencer. Only way you could remove them would to cut the silencer apart, remove them, then weld it back together. The pieces you removed are just the end tips. Quote

So there is no potential hazard of removing these end caps then. Wil the change in backpressure cause any problems? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 By removing the silencers you just began the beginning o the Armageddon!!! Good going DICK!!! ok but for real.... you can remove sparkys and be fine but pipes that are designed to be used with silencers need to have them in tact. Quote

I would love to just buy some aftermarket pipes and call it done, Power and cool sound in one shot BUT... I'm a student and Banshee exhaust is soo expensive so I was just trying to find a way to get some effect of aftermarket pipes without the pipes themselves. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 you can usually get some used pipes for pretty good prices... Quote
nunyabinness Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 yeah, if you look through the FOR SALE section you can probably find a good set of pipes for CHEAP!!! and you will get a hell of a lot better sound and performance than them stock pipes. Quote
