I do alot of flat riding.. maybe go for 5 or 6 miles pinned.. i was wondering what some crazy gearing would do... honestly i dont care if it takes 3 miles to hit 90 but is it possible with gearing? is this realistic.. what size gears could do it?

here's a file that'll help with the gearing. type in the rear tire size, sprockets and go from there to see what will give you what.

from what I can remember, with 20" tires, a 15/38 or 15/39 should get you there. mine with a 15/38 was clocked at 88 and I still had a lot of 6th to go, I should've been able to hit 92 or 93 and maybe a little more.

try doing a right-click and "save as" deal. it should save it as an excel file on your 'puter and then you can open it up. 17/38 would "technically" do it but the higher the gearing (larger front / smaller rear), the more power your going to need to pull it. I don't think you can pull a 17 front sprocket through 6th gear with your mods, unless it was perfectly flat or a tad downhill but even then it'd would take FOREVER.

although i didnt read this post i did see you said you ride for 5 or 6 miles pinned? thats not a very good idea once you start building that motor up... at relitivly stock you will be ok but once you start making that thing suck the floats faster then they fillup your going to lean her out and pop....

heres another converter that will give you mph in all gears.. Banshee Gearing

ok, thats not really true. a properly tuned banshee could be held wide open forever provided fuel flow never stopped. a fuel pump would be an easy fix for this. and on the subject of stock vs modded, id rather take my 10mm cub motor 5 miles pinned before a stock cylinder motor.. cub cylinders are much more reliable than stock cylinders, especially when it comes to transferring heat. the water jackets are much larger than stock, allowing cubs to stay cooler.

im not talking bout realiablity issues or cooling issues... im talking bout sucking the bowl dry... theres no way in hell id run my cub wide open on stock bowls for that long, they cant keep up with the fuel the motor needs...properly tuned or not, if a big motor needs more fuel faster then the bowls can fillup then your going to eventually run them dry and lean the motor out

I would say try a 16t front sprocket and see how things go. It's gonna take u long enough to top that out IMO. This stuff is greek to me. I prefer acceleration. I'm ported and i dont really care for 15/41. Kinda too fast.

do you think i can pull 17/38 with my stock motor?

start small and work your way up.. stock is 14/41 so try 15/41 then 16/41....

one tooth in front is close to 2.75 (guesstamit) in the back.. so you will make more drastic changes but changing the front one tooth..
