202banshee Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 (edited) In process of buying first shee from a friend. Told him I wont pay till I get it running right LOL. I have done a chunk of searching and reading on here and have learned a ton about the carbs and the tors setup (all new to me).He bought it used so isnt real sure of all the mods. Heres what he knows. FMF fatty pipes Pro design cool head 20cc domes KN filter with lid off boost bottle He says the kick start went down on him so he let it sit for 8 months or so then took it to a shop and had it fixed but they couldnt get it to fire up without pull starting (also meathead left the old fuel in it). So the first thing I noticed was that the elec plug for the right carb was unplugged and noticed the choke crossover was off. So I drained all fuel and replaced the spark plugs. Went ahead and unplugged the left carb and the tors box (left side up under tank). Filled the cyls with fuel and it fired right off but revved to the moon. I know my buddy and if it wont start he grabs a screwdriver and starts turning everything in sight on carb LOL. So I do my best to get a good base setting to start with. Kicks right over again but still revs to moon. I plug the box back in and the carbs and she runs without revving but the right cyl only fires every so often and no idle. The idle screws seem to do nothing. I know the carbs need cleaning but was just trying to get that right cyl to fire full time. So I know were I am at before I tear into them. Also why would unplugging the tors make it rev uncontrollably ??? Any help PLEASE ???? Edited July 18, 2007 by 202banshee Quote

Pull the air filter and verify that the slides or one of them are stuck and go from there. Brandon Quote

Brandon ahha Maybe a good reason why I cant feel the idle screw touch slide is cause it aint closed LOL If one is stuck whats a good methed for unsticking and making sure it dont happen again. Quote

dawarriorman Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Everybody else seems to have you covered, but I had to say one thing. Don't take it to that shop again if their idea of "fixing" is "it runs if you push start it" Quote

RagunCajun Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Sometimes the slides get stuck on the idle screws. I had that problem. I backed the idle screws out just a hair and problem solved. I used about 2 cans of spray carb cleaner between tapping my holes for the idle screws, rejetting etc. My damn carb are freakin spotless lol. I didnt want any dirt or metal shavings going into my engine. Quote
Satsol67 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Also make sure you put the slides in right and on the right carbs. Your buddy might have also had the carb tops off and didnt put them back right. Just something to keep in mind. Quote
