2strokeme Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I put on an adjustable timing plate this past weekend and after getting everything back together I tried to fire it up but it wouldnt start. Everyone out there will laugh at me but i used a claw type puller on the flywheel. Noticed it did leave a little impression on the flywheel. Not much but it did. Wondering if this is why it wont start or is it just a crazy coensedence ( ) that something else is wrong. I checked for spark it's not getting anything. Plenty of fuel/ Everything was running perfect before i done this. Could it be the stator. I checked it over and everything looks good. Someone help me. My local Yamaha shop said 2 weeks before they can look at it---cant be away from the banshee that long!!!!!!!!!! Quote
fastrthnu Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 good chance you messed up the magnets on the flywheel. use a flywheel puller next time eh Quote
dajogejr Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Buy a new flywheel...you trashed the old one and you already know it. Then check your wires, set the air gap between .015 and .018...and be done with it. Quote

luv2rideaz Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 a flywheel puller costs like 15 bucks or less. about the marks on the flywheel, did it mess up the magnet on the flywheel, next check the gap on the pickup coil (little black box on timing plate). measure it when the magnet on the flywheel is acrost from it. it should be between .015 to .020 (about the same thickness as a match book cover) here is a link to help http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/elecfaq.html Quote
dawarriorman Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) The danger from a claw puller isn't the marks it leaves, but the fact that its not going to pull even, and will warp the flywheel. Buy a new one, and get a flywheel puller next time. Edited May 29, 2007 by dawarriorman Quote
2strokeme Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 flywheel on the way, even comes w/ a tool. Hope this is why it wont start!!!! Quote
