The taper boring is a bunch of BS if you ask me. If you are going to get the carbs bored, straight boring is really the only thing that makes sense. Unless you are doing the machine work yourself, boring your carbs is probably not worth it. The Keihin knock-off carbs CPW sells are certainly a much better deal. On the other hand, depending on what you have done to your bike and your future plans for it, carb boring can make some sense in certain situations. :geek: Quote
'99350t Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 i definatly need more intake, i got t5's and some mild porting, shaved head and v-3's. maybe i will just buy bigger carbs, i would like to keep mikunis because i got so many jets. (almost 20 sets of mains) and a couple pilots Quote

64xracer Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Yep, thats the same thing that happened to me only it was LS Oklahoma so not as far of a walk!! ................and then some asshole (me) decided to bore the throatof his carbs for larger slides in addition to a largwer bore and wound up with a large hole in his right carbn out in the middle of nowhere in Glamis. :shoothead: Quote
itsaripper Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Ok so some of you have had bad luck with bored carbs. I bought a set of stock carbs taper-bored to 27.5 and they were like putting the after market pipes on. It was a whole nother level of power. I would only have a reputable shop do the bore, like LRD in Portland. Now looking ahead that is as far as you are going to go with these carbs. So the PWK 28 style will give more top end and still be good if you port more. Quote

I actually had a set of carbs that were bored to 30mm in the bore and for a 28mm slide. I did all the work myself. Where is LRD in Portland? Quote
